Hello World ECF

Long time listener lurker first time caller poster..

Smoking:
I had been smoking about 1/2 pack to 1 pack of lights per day on-and-off for about 10 years. I quit a few times (longest was 1 year) but drinking made it hard for me to stay off cigarettes.

vaping - Stage 1:
In 2009, a non-smoker friend told me about this electronic cigarette (blu cig) he had seen. I had never heard of it and was curious, so I started googling it. I found this forum and did some research. I bought an M401 setup and used it exclusively.

vaping to Neither to Smoking:
I gradually stopped wanting to use the e-cig every break, then every day, and eventually even while drinking. Eventually, not having the e-cig while drinking led me to bum cigarettes. Then I started smoking again...

Cold Turkey to Smoking Again:
Last year I decided I was going to quit smoking (cold turkey again) for the last time on 11/11/11. This only lasted about a month before I was smoking again.

vaping - Stage 2?:
I decided to go back to vaping, which I enjoy more than smoking anyway. I just wanted something more convenient than dripping with the 401 again. The 401 cartridges didn't hold much juice, so I quit bothering with carts early on. I also didn't like the short battery life of the 401. I started reading the forums again. I was surprised to find the 401 is rarely mentioned anymore. It looks like the 510 is the most popular model now. The 510 had bigger cartridges and batteries anyway, so I was thinking that might be what I wanted...

Vaping - Stage 3:
I was surprised to find all these new cartomizers and tanks. This is exactly what I was wanting.. more juice, less refilling. That and bigger batteries. I like the eGo, but I think I want a battery/tank setup that will last all day. Time for my first big battery mod + cartomizer tank... I ordered the Silver Vein Silver Bullet (SVSB) and 2 SmokeTec DualCoil tanks:

Congrats. Good choice in the SB and quite an upgrade from a Blu!! I started with a little 510 stick battery and the SB's little brother, the Baby Bullet, was my first upgrade. It was my only PV right up to a couple weeks ago. You can't hardly wear them out. I wish they had offered the Silver Vein color at the time. Looks sweet, and it matches my bird cage!!

Thanks everyone! :) I forgot to mention, I have been tobacco free for 1 month now and will not be smoking again as long as I can be vaping! :vapor:

I found out the SmokeTec tanks slide around and was worried about them leaking. So I ordered some J-Tanks, which fit much tighter. They are still made of polycarbonate though, so they can crack. I ordered a Phiniac pyrex tank for this reason. I couldn't resist ordering a PrecisePlus 18650 and Who's Your Daddy (both sizes) tanks too.

Silver Vein Silver Bullet + J-Tank and PrecisePlus 18650 + Who's Your Daddy tank:

I am still using the J-Tanks (green one is my menthol tank). I just have to be more careful where I put them and what juices I put in them.

I am really enjoying the PrecisePlus, but don't think I'll ever get rid of the Silver Bullet.

I bought all this in the last month  I am going to try a $100/mo vaping budget now.

Wow! I really like that WYD tank. Were can one find those? They need XL cartos by the look of it?

Edit: nevermind. I found them. Yikes!!

They also have the "Lil' Mama" 3ml tanks for standard size cartos. I started off thinking I needed 5ml+ tanks to get through a day. I upped my nic to 24mg and find 3ml will last a day or two now. The WYD tanks are more than twice the cost of polycarbonate tanks, but are more durable. I have already had one polycarbonate tank crack (passenger sat on it). I would have cracked another by using an incompatible (lol) juice, had I not read this: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-juices-flavors-crack-tanks-ce2s-clearos.html

After reading that, I will not be buying anymore polycarbonate tanks!

Yeah, it's a sweet tank, but too rich for my blood. I'm not a fan of the DCTs but it's 4x the price of a DCT and twice what a J tank would cost. I don't vape many of the high crack-rate juices, and replacement tubes are available in any case, so I'll probably go with a J-Tank. At least until I already have a Darwin and a Reo an a few other PVs and just need to spend more money. :)

I just want to clarify that I first heard about the blu cig, but in researching it I discovered ECF and avoided purchasing it in favor of a 401. The 401 worked well, I liked the small size as I wanted something more "similar to a cigarette." I wanted to drip (and dip) directly on the atomizer, for flavor/vapor and sampling juices. I soon discovered the small carts of the 401 were not worth the trouble and got tired of dripping/dipping when chain vaping. The batteries did not last long so I had to carry a few spares and change them out frequently.

I am happy with the big battery mods and tanks I have now, but am glad I started on the 401. :)
