Hello to all,
My name is Susan. I am new here and new to vaping. I went to a store in Carytown Va. And bought a mini ego and some juice and have not had a real smoke since.
I have been having a few problems. The first day i could taste the flavor. Now I dont taste any of them. My nic level is 1·8 . It has been about a month. I am also having a tight chest. So after reading I put in a order from
Mt.vapors I am not sure of name but got it from here with less nic and more vg in it. I don't know why I cant taste any of the juices. They now seem to taste like dish soap. Sorry if this long or looks funny but this is not my. Computer and I am lost on this tiny thing.

Hello Susan and welcome.
Sorry to hear about your issues. I had the exact same issues when I first started as did many other vapers. The steps I took which seemed to help somewhat was to brush my teeth often and used a tongue scraper. Also ate pickles, olives and hot peppers (this seemed to help temporarily). As Retired1 stated drink plenty of water.
But I believe it was time that helped most of all, after 2 weeks could taste those fabulous flavors again.
Hope this helps.

Welcome!

I went through this too. Couldn't taste anything for about two solid weeks. Didn't matter what I did. Just push through it and when you come out on the other side you will really appreciate your flavors...even more subtle ones.

Drink a ton of water. Have a sip for every vape you take. When you get your Mount Baker juices you will probably need to let them sit for about two weeks before they reach peak flavor. So don't think they are bunk if you try to vape them right away and they don't taste like much.

I can't help you with your tight chest but I hope it is nothing serious.

Good luck and keep with it. You will be fine. :)

Welcome Susan. I'm a relatively new Vaper also and I personally find that menthol based juices do tend to deaden some other flavors also. I've solved the problem somewhat by switching up between the Menthol based flavors and the fruity ones. And as a special treat for me I do a couple of tanks of cinnamon based juices a week also. Be careful not to use a plastic type tank with cinnamon based juice though. Again welcome to ECF. It's a great place and you'll learn a lot here.

If your clearomizer has coils you can change then it's time you did that. If it's a disposable you can't do that so bin it for a new one.

For the tight chest it could be a sensitivity to PG. Getting juices with higher VG, maybe 30/70 PG/VG or even 50/50 could ease that a load.

Welcome to ECF btw ;)

Yes it is a great place to learn and talk to other people. My chest being sore is something i have had at times with smoking. I have inhalers that I had to use once in awhile. Mostly sore in morning and before bed. I drink a ton of water and always have. I am not given up. This is still better then smoki g. I just have to find what is good for me. With the help here I will get it.

Susan,

The tightness in your chest might be the congestion that's finally getting a chance to clear up. I was about a PAD smoker (menthols) for around 25 years. I could tell my system was "purging" some of the built-up gunk from my smoking. Now, I don't wheeze when I take really deep breaths :) I also had a run where tasting flavors was pretty "meh" I started rewicking my coils with cotton, and eventually started rebuilding my own. I think it was mostly time, however, that allowed me to taste more cleanly now.

You might try some straight-up menthol (not tobacco menthol) and take a couple vapes of that when you think your other flavors are diminished. I've also seen on the forums to sniff coffee beans. That supposedly "resets" your senses of taste and smell. I drink coffee in the mornings, so I let that be my "sniffing" ;)

I still have some stock coils (silica wicking) that have popped into rotation every once in a great while, and I can tell a little bit of difference in flavor and draw (the cotton is so much smoother and much more flavorful.) Those get rebuilt pretty quickly! I do save the flavor wicks, just in case I don't have quite enough cotton in a wick (VERY rare for me - I probably tend more the other direction) and my tank leaks/gurgles a bit. That saves me until my next cleaning/rebuild.

Welcome and enjoy the vape :vapor:

Hey Susan,
I too went to that store in Carytown and pick up 3 flavors and can say those were the worst flavors I've gotten out of the 25+ I have picked up from different places. I wouldn't recommend their juices to anyone. I've since switched to ahlusions and bryce's juices and have been much happier. Ahlusions is a little bit more expensive but you definitely get what you pay for. I found my all day vape from there and if you order $20 worth you get a free sample which is always great :)

There is also a shop down in Chester that is pretty good. It's where I actually bought my tank and stuff and their juices were much better. It's called Voltage Vaping. People there are really nice and helpful too
