hellllllllooooooo! [:

i am not actually a smoker or a vaporer?vaper? but i js purchased some vaporking ksomethin`808d1?`s today for my mom & my boyfriend.

i`m kind of wonderin` if it was a premature decision now though b/c i left this v4l dedicated forum area and travelled to the health forum & read about all the horrible side effects that people seemed to experience (some for as long as 6 months!) while switchin` from analogs to e-cigs

i would feel horrible to have my mom go through all the trouble w/ the dry throat & muscle pains & heartburn & blood pressure spikes 8-o

i was hopin` to hear a more specific vapor4life experience on makin` the switch.

it would be great if everyone here never suffered at side effects & js loved the e-cigs w/ their first vape

a girl can dreammmm. haha

but yeah are there any tips to avoid these side effects, personal experiences specifically with vapor king, and how long these horrible symptoms generally last?

Hi,
I think most people get a dry throat when they start to vape. I got chapped lips, too. You have to drink more water when vaping to avoid that aspect of it. That lasted about a week for me, chapped lips, then it healed up and I've been fine ever since, but I do drink more water now, which can't be a bad thing because most people don't drink enough anyway.

My blood pressure has dropped, my resting heart rate has dropped 22 beats per minute, I don't cough anymore, I can get results at the gym now but when I smoked I couldn't seem to move upward on the fitness level at all. I am way more active than when I smoked cigs and can do a LOT more physical labor and I don't even think about the stairs in my house anymore, no more getting out of breath. I haven't been sick once since I started vaping and usually have colds frequently and haven't had the flu either.

All in all, a great experience and I plan to continue, smoking was killing me. I was starting to wheeze at night, that is gone now, too.

I also wanted to add that a lot of the symptoms people have reported in the forums are simply symptoms that happen to people when they stop smoking, even if they don't start vaping. Check out some websites on smoking cessation so you'll know what they are. There is a lot of crap in cigs besides the nicotine and it's all affecting our bodies as well, I think there are also other addictive substances in cigs besides nicotine, but I don't know what exactly they are.

i get dry mouth but no worse than i did while smoking, really... other than that i have had no side effects... none that i'd complain about anyway.. my only side effects have been more energy, better sleep, increased sex drive, and an all over "better feeling" did i mention an increased sex drive?? that one's my favorite... so all in all a little dry mouth is nothing!! i usually have a soda or water with me anyway!!

good luck!!

I agree the first week was the worst for me as well. But dry mouth was due only to ecigs the rest was due to my body trying to get rid of the 4000 chemicals that are in smoking regular cigarettes. The body will do some crazy stuff when trying to get rid of an addiction of 13 years and 2 packs a day by that point.

So if your mom or BF is trying to quit cold turkey they will get the same effects reguardless if they use the ecig or no ecigs. Because like stated above the body has to filter out the toxins and that can be painful for some. Flue like symptoms, stomach problems, and bad nightmares can happen when quitting either cold turkey or using any quitting smoking products. I know this because I have tried cold turkey before and other quitting methods. And the coughing they will experience for the next few weeks will be due to the lungs getting rid of surface tar.

And if they succeed in quitting smoking for 7 - 10 years they should have a completely rebuilt lungs (depending on the damage done from smoking) due to the bodies healing and rebuilding process.

I think you made the best decision on getting a VK for your family. And if they dont do well with PG caritmizers try the VG caritmizers that Smilen now has... Some people just dont like PG... VG seems to be a lot easier to vape for those who can not tolerate PG. I hope this helps.

Other than the dry throat, I believe the other side effects you mentioned have to do with getting too much nicotine or simply vaping too much. I had problems myself initially, but it would been totally avoided had I used a lower strength liquid to begin with. In rare cases some have a sensitivity to PG, but I stress rare.

What strength cartomizers did you order for your folks? You need to base it on how much they smoke and by what type (i.e. regular, lights, or ultra lights). It's better to err on the side of caution initially by using a lower strength, then increase it if necessary to ease cravings.

I experienced NO sideffects unless you would call increased energy a side effect. I had a chronic cough for months that disappeared after I started vaping. It's different for everyone because everyone is different! My advice is to not second guess yourself, you made the right decision. They will see how much you really do care for them

If they are computer people steer them here so they can get support and advise on their transition! I get the dry mouth/throat but that is about the only vaping issue, unless I overdo it in the evenings and can't sleep. Lots of water and not letting my self chain vape before bedtime and I'm good to go!

On the plus side even when I get a cold the nasal congestion goes away in less than a day, usually it's a week or more for me! I've woke up a few times with that stuffy head cold feeling and vaping seems to dry it right out.

I experienced very minimal side effects - a little dryness, but nothing that drinking a little extra water doen't alleviate. And a little heartburn from time to time - I think maybe I was swallowing some vapor. But overall I feel much better - wouldn't trade that for a few minor discomforts at the beginning.

that actually was the tricky part. i sat in front of the computer for 3 days tryin` to find an exact conversion table or guide and was devasted to not find one 8-o

after havin` the order ready to go at 24mg for a day or so i emailed the customer service @ vapor4life & they suggested at least 18mg but probably a 24 if they are heavier smokers

but the odd thing is both my mom & my boyfriend smoke pretty strong cigs (mom = capri menthol 100`s & bf = marlboro reds) but they`re not exactly heavvvyyy smokers though they both have been smokin` for a veryyyyyyy long time. my mom takes 3 days to finish her pack & my boyfriend can make his last for a week but come the weekend & the alcohol & the boys and his pack doesn`t stand a chance.

so i got them both 18 mg cartomizers (menthol, cowboy) & 36mg 5 ml correspondin` juices so they have the choice to up their nicotine intake if necessary

& supposedly i can purchase PGs or VGs? at a local drug store or market so in the case that they can`t handle the 18`s i can rush over there & fix it for them

Not sure if it helps, but I have been vaping since Thanksgiving, I thought I was a "moderate smoker" 1.5-2 packs a day average and I went with 18mg, not anywhere near enough, 36mg works for me.
Dry mouth/throat was a huge problem with me. I drink like a fish and have never taken in enough water and still do not. IF I were to increase that intake my problems might lessen, but that's me!
My blood pressure has spiked, but is now settling down, I fight boughts of insonmnia, that are getting better. A lot of that could be stress related as I am laid off and trying to get income in any way I can now.
I have had indejestion/constipation from the start, but it's tollerable and slowly settling down. Again, more water intake and lower stress levels would probably decrease this.
Even with the side effects, and even if I knew they would continue, I would still choose vaping. I feel better, I don't cough in the morning, I don't have to run out the door first thing in the am for a smoke. I can breath better and I don't have the shortness of breath. I also know in the long run I am going to be better off!

Ive been vaping since april of 2009 and honestly I am very happy with vaping. Every time I go to the gas station I see people buying smokes and I give out V4L cards and say please check out the ECF forum. Sometimes I see the person again and they thank me. They may not go with V4L but they were happy that they weren't smoking anymore. You cant go wrong with cartimizers... they just give the best flavor and long lasting vaping.

I haven't had any side affects either, other than the occasional dry throat. Which dissapeared with a little extra fluid intake.
I agree that some of the side affects you are reading about happen when you stop smoking. Regardless of whether you vape or not.
And remember, you were reading posts in a forum specifically for people having side affects. So it may have looked overwhelming!

hahahaha i will keep tryin` to help my mom understand how to use the computer though we`ve been at it for a couple of years now and all she can manage to remember is that the very big button turns off the machine.

i don`t know how she does it but anytime she comes around to my old study room at their place to clean or whatnot technical issues develop with my computer such as it not turnin` on, my screen goin` blank, my keyboard keys not workin`, etc.

she`s now more terrified than curious when it comes to technology.

but that`s my main concern that she`s so wary about substitutin` her much needed cigs with a "stick toy" & i keep tryin` to explain to her that the battery isn`t like a normal AA battery & that it absolutely will not leak battery juice into her mouth and poison her. i think upon the first signs of any negative changes she would think it was "battery fumes". :|

The side effects from Vaping are nothing compared to the side effects from Smoking! I think most people don't have any bad side effects. The minority that do are more likely to post about it so the apparent frequency is really skewed.

The one common side effect is a need for more water while the body acclimates to it. I have started using more lip balm and moisturizer to counter act the slight drying effects. Not a bad trade off at all for being able to breathe freely in my opinion!

;)
