Hi Everyone, my name is Anna and I just started vaping through this past weekend. I'm 27, from Canada and I've been smoking for almost 10 years. I smoked half a pack a day of menthols and a friend of mine suggested I take up vaping. I found a store a few km from where I live and picked up a starter pack from them. I'm so confused when they speak to me as I'm hard of hearing and generally communicate in sign so I thought reading would be easier. The starter pack they sold me consists of an eLeaf iStick 30w and a nautilus Mini. I'm set at 10w, and I'm getting a horridly burning feeling in my throat from it, it's almost too much to bear. I was wondering if there was any way to resolve this or if they've sold me bad components.

What nicotine level is your e-juice? It's possible it's too much nicotine for you. Your setup is a good setup to have.
Do you prime the coil? Put some juice on the coil and let it sit in the tank for a few minutes for the cotton to absorb the juice?

Canada is a beautiful place, I've been trying to work out moving up there to be with my fiance.

I exchanged the coil in mine with the spare that came with the Nautilus. The feeling of it seems to be fine now! Thank you so much Reckless2015. Do I need to change them every other day? I'm sure that the gentleman at the store told me but as I said, I'm hard of hearing and I was already feeling embarassed asking him to repeat himself the first few times.

You really ought to get more than a day on a coil. I use an iStick (I have 2 of each 20W, 30W and one TC40W) with the GS Air M tank and average about 2 weeks on a coil. Believe me...I vape a LOT, my juice is 85/15 PG/VG, and I use 1.5ohm on 6 watts, as a rule. I probably go through maybe 120 ml. of juice in two weeks on one coil. (Yeah...I'm a chain vaper... smoked 43 years, and while I've gotten my nic down to around 2mg, I am still hooked on the hand to mouth thing. Quit smoking 4 years ago using vaping. Plan to go down to 0 nic, but can't promise I'll quit vaping...).

For the average vaper, I would think a week is a reasonable life for a coil. You'll get duds sometimes. Guard against burning and be sure to prime prime prime!

I am wondering what you vg/pg ratio are, when I first started vaping I was started out at 70pg/30vg, it was very hard on my throat. Some have a very hard time vaping pg, there seems to be a new trend to higher vg %'s.

Welcome to the forum BazzB!
You have an excellent setup in that combo. Sounds like a good shop giving sensible advice.

Priming the wick in a new coil and letting it soak in for a few minutes before firing is hugely important. Without enough juice the wick will be scorched and it's no good after that.
Another thing to try would be turning the power down to 7 watts or so and then turning it up a little at a time until you hit the right level. Some juices do best at very low wattages.
Best of luck to you.

Thank you guys for all the welcomes and the answers to my questions. I've set my watts to 9 and it seems to be doing a lot better.

I'm using 50/50. Would higher vg be better? I heard that it can "clog" the tank.
