Hello. I just want to introduce myself. I am Artie i have been vaping since last April but now have decided to quit smoking. I am also thinking about getting into rebuilding drip atomizers. I was thinking an IGO W to start. My question is what gauge Kanthal would i use for an Ohm range of .5 to 1.5?

I've been vaping and smoking for 3 years. Just quit the cigs and moved to dripping last week.

I'm not great with all these wire gauge things so hopefully someone else will come along to answer you. If not, a coil calculator may be able to answer your question.

I haven't tried the rda you are thinking off but I have bought five others. The fishbone is my favourite but the one I recommend for someone starting out would probably be the velocity. It is super easy to build on and very flavourful.

Hi and welcome Artie. Congrats on your new year's resolution. I only started vaping in December and haven't dived too deep into coil building. I recently wrapped a 1.3 ohm coil using 28AWG Kanthal A1 wire with 7 wraps. I does the job.

Hi and welcome. If I were doing it, I would buy both 28 and 32 ga for that resistance range.

First thing you need to decide is whats more important, flavor or clouds. 1.5 ohms is in the flavor area with very decent clouds. .5 ohms more clouds with less flavor.

I like more flavor a adequate clouds so I'm at: 6.7w @ 2 ohms/32ga. 5 (single) wraps Magma deep well RDA.

.5 ohms less flavor??..not in any of my 20 mods. RDA's or RTA's. Got every type that's hit the market. Vent control has a lot to do with it.

So my first impression is not good lol i am at 1.5 ohms running 6mg juice that is 70vg/30pg and for some reason is really harsh. Not sure what i am doing wrong.

How many watts are you using?

I only use 3mg nic in my dripper as I find anything over that to be quite harsh but that's just a personal preference

That certainly doesn't sound excessive.

I think it may be my throat it is very sore and i just tried my Nautilus tank it is harsh as well. I wonder if i am just getting a sore throat or maybe a side effect from quitting smoking it has been like 11 days. I have tried a 3mg and a 6 mg juice both 30 pg/ 70 vg

with that pg/vg ratio and nic level on the nautilus it seems like it is your throat, not because you quit fags but a flu, I am just recovering from that myself
