Hey everyone, just posting to introduce myself here. I quit smoking analogs on Oct 13, 2015. I smoked a pack a day for 16-17 years. vaping has been a huge help for me. I've tried everything to quit and vaping has been the only thing that worked. Started off with the typical ego pen style and have since moved up to a 60 watt MVP Pro with a GS Air M tank.(1.5 ohm only vape at 14-18w) Still cant sub-ohm since it makes it difficult to breathe for me. (Mild asthma, still use a rescue inhaler) Anyway, I'm looking forward to the information everyone has here and I'm always looking to learn. If anyone has any questions for me feel free to ask. Thanks guys!

I wouldn't recommend sub-ohm vaping for anyone with asthma or COPD. Come visit the tootle-puffer thread, once you get enough posts to get sprung from the new members forum; we're friendly and welcoming. :D

I've had mild asthma for 30+ yrs (diagnosed when I was 24); as a smoker, all I needed was a rescue inhaler, but since quitting smoking and starting to vape, I've had to add Advair, so now I think it would probably qualify as "moderate asthma" -- but don't let that be an excuse to go back to smoking; asthma may be somewhat eased by smoking, thanks to the topical anesthetics that are added to cigarette tobacco, but that just masks the problem, doesn't actually improve it, and you still have to worry about future cancer and COPD, if you're asthmatic and continue to smoke.

Or, you may be fortunate enough to see great improvement in your asthma -- if you don't go in for that sub-ohm silliness and just vape sensibly.

Welcome!
Andria

Welcome aboard
My wife has asthma and only vapes on occasion now but has had episodes with her asthma that her meds can't correct. On those occasions I reminder her to try a vape. I have found that having her vape a 50/50 of higher PG juice has been effective in relieving her attack. So, you might file that info away in the just-in-case file.

Thanks @AndriaD, I love vaping non sub-ohm and I will definitely talk to my doctor about Advair. I've used it before and have seen a major improvement. I've tried high PG and high VG and what seems to work for me is a 70VG/30PG mix. Certain flavors will exacerbate my asthma as well. Mainly fruity flavors so right now I'm stuck with a tobacco/caramel flavor and so far so good. Still have to use my inhaler 3-5 times a day but I do chain vape like no other and I work mainly outdoors in all types of weather. Not to mention being inside 12-17 houses a day delivering appliances to people. So I'm pretty active and I may be over doing it sometimes.

I've found that I have to stick with 85%-87% PG; VG gives me what feels like a hairball in my chest that I CANNOT cough up, no matter how I try; when I once tried 67PG/33VG, I woke up that night with an asthma attack so severe that I almost couldn't even get a hit from my Ventolin -- that was SCARY. I went back to 80% PG the next day, but I've found that really I do best at 85%-87%. I don't think it's related to the asthma, or at least not completely, because I've heard from other asthmatics round here that they have to stick with high VG. I guess it's just my own body's quirk, rather than anything particularly to do with asthma.

Yea I'm the complete opposite. I have to have at least 70VG. I even went down to 50/50 mix and it just wasn't doing it for me. Felt raspy and all. Plus I actually like not having a throat hit. Which is weird considering I've just quit smoking not to long ago. But trust me I will never go back to cigarettes. I'm am not doing that crap again. I couldn't believe I did it for as long as I did.

Just a truth moment here

Once I made the switch from smoking to vaping January of 2015 I had a relapse and smoked a cig at the end of January. I honestly don't see how I smoked the paper..it tasted like absolute crap and I could taste the chemicals and paper...the tobacco had the taste of ammonia..

Went back to vaping after that and I still crave a cig ( only when I drink alcohol ) but it's easily tamed by chain vaping with the lemo tank and some awesome tasting juice. Inawera gold ducat.

I wouldn't call that a relapse at all -- that was a moment of weakness. After my appendectomy, I went back to smoking (and vaping too -- dual use) for a month -- THAT was a relapse! :D To me, it tasted like home sweet home -- at first -- but then it started burning my mouth and lips a lot. Since I got back to smoke-free after that, I've stayed that way -- thanks entirely to WTA.
