Whats ups, my name is Cale and I have been vaping for many years. I am just now getting around to joining online side of things because I am opening a shop two hours from my house and was wanting to get more feedback directly from people about products and things they want to see in vape shops. I cant wait to be more active in the community and get to know you people some more.

Welcome to ECF, Cale. Before you start talking shop you may want to go over this post https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/threads/ecf-suppliers-terms-of-service.255780/ but welcome again to the regular side of the forums here. So how long you been vapin'? How long did you smoke?
Okay will make sure to follow rules. Dont have anything open right now so wont be talking to much shop. But was never a huge smoker, started when I was around 16 but quickly moved to vapes. Its been about 9 years vaping so far. Have tried all the little things cant wait to get to know community a bit more.

I wasn't too huge a smoker either I guess. I could stretch a pack out for a week if I had to, but it wasn't uncommon enough for a pack to last only a day.. I was in my low mid teens when I became a 'regular' smoker. I certainly wasn't quick enough in making my move, it took me more than 30 years to do it, and for close to 8 years I've been wondering why it took me so long..

Welcome Cale. I wish you the best of luck with your vape shop.

Because of the continuous vaping ban attempts, I suggest including non-nic flavor concentrates, party supplies, bath products, candy and gum, candles and other general supplies, as much as you have space for, along with vaping equipment and liquids, to carry you to the next iteration of your business if the need should impose itself.

to ECF Calethegreat (heehee, love the name) and so glad that you are here. Sorry, my welcome is late but congrats to you on the vaping and any of your new journey.

I have only been in two vape shops but from my limited experience, I would suggest having knowledgeable employees. I went in one not too long ago and I honestly do not think they had a clue.

Good luck to you and make yourself at home. Lots of wonderful people here so we are glad you joined.

I would second this. For the most part, it seems like vape shop employees are salespeople first - they just want you to leave the store with something purchased in your hand.

Also, I'm sure the profitability of disposables is probably the highest, but I don't feel like this is a sustainable, cost-effective solution for transitioning smokers. The build quality of most disposables is horrendous, not to mention absolutely terrible for the environment. If you're looking for advice from this forum, these are some things to consider in how you stock your inventory. You're not going to find much support for disposables. Vape knowledge however, is plentiful.

    Hello CaleTheGreat

Like you I wanted to open a shop after I realized how good vaping is to quit smoking. Unfortunately, the more I looked into it the more I realized regulations and the current state of affairs threatened the huge investment which would be needed to run a shop in PA.

Where are you located, and do you have a lot of shops nearby? Just curious.

Amongst my travels for work and vacations I frequently stop by any shops I pass along the way to get their perspective on the industry, get their quit story, and find out how they deal with the regulatory situation. Just curious what your take is on the current marketplace.

It feels like resisting the tide of disposables is futile. It feels like disposables are what government and the dominant industries want. I really only believe in open systems for permanent smoking cessation, and I try to remain optimistic, but it's difficult as you see "we will notify you when it's back in stock" on your favorite equipment and liquids. I tried to hoard some more Aspire BVC coils I used to get for around 5.00 for a 5-pack, and they are becoming hard to find. One of the online sellers said they were no longer being manufactured, and wouldn't ever be back in stock.

Open systems allow new vapers to experiment until they have it the way they want it, and are comfortable vaping instead of smoking, in terms of pg/vg, nic strength, flavors, equipment form factors and function. I honestly think our government wants us all dead. The worst travesty is all of the smokers who do not have the same pathways to permanent cessation that were open to all of us, and may never be saved.

Check FastTech. I bought a 25 or 50 pack for the Dovpo Abyss at a reasonable price. Not quite $1 per coil, but like $1.50.

And yes. It's watching how these kinds of things go down, where you start to get a glimpse of how much money runs the world. It's not actually about kids, safer alternatives, or health at all - nothing is. It's about how the wallets at the top can profit the most. Find every terrible thing that exists in the world that was created for our "benefit", and there's someone at the top making hand over fist from it. Social media, medications, insurance, make-up/augmentations, money (the irony), etc. I hate it all.
