Hello guys
So im pretty new to vaping, started about a month ago. The first vape i got was the surion vagon, i honestly really enjoy it and been having a blast with it but..... i want to start going into the whole mods and tanks and coils, ive done some research and here is what i think i want to get, for the mod i want to get a Smok species 230W tc box mod, and for the tank i finally picked the Freeman Fireluke mesh sub-ohm tank, now I HAVE NO IDEA if these go together or if its a good combo or not. I want somewhat big clouds with a above average flavor and any suggestions or any other mods or tanks you guys think would be better please let me know and the help would be greatly appreciated.... also batteries, im looking for a rechargeable batteries and dont care about the price for that gotta have good batteries!! I just dont want to get the wrong batteries and mess everything up..... sorry if my post is all over the place but dam vaping has A LOT of confusing parts to it
Ohh and last thing im gonna be vaping 0mg of nic if that makes a difference or not

THANK YOU :)

Best quote ever :thumb:

Here’s where I’ve recently started buying my batteries

18650 Battery Store | 18650 Lithium Ion Batteries, Chargers and Wraps

Also can’t go wrong here

Earth's #1 source for IMR 18650 Batteries, Chargers, Cases & Wraps | IMRbatteries.com

Input overload here, but tons of great information

Mooch's Recommended Batteries | E-Cigarette Forum

I’m not familiar with the tank or mod you're considering but lately I’ve been enjoying the Aegis Legend

Geek Vape Aegis Legend 200W Starter Kit | Limited Edition - Vape Kits

It comes with a sub ohm tank but I’m using it with a Serpent Elevate RTA, it is rebuildable, which is a whole new rabbit hole, but IMO gives you much better flavor.

Hope that helps some, welcome to the forum :)

Wow, quite a jump, from a pod to cloud chasing!
"So I rode my nephew's mini bike for a minute yesterday, and decided I need a Harley. Do you think the Low Rider or Heritage Soft Tail would be better for me?"

Sorry, had to do it. ;) Have you tried something at least similar to the Fireluke? I don't do big watt sub ohm/ clouds, but whatever you buy, you should be sure it's going to deliver what you want...or is at least in a category you like. Tell us what you tried, and what you've liked or disliked about it, and you'll get more helpful responses. And I guess you've just taken up vaping, and aren't using it to quit smoking?

And yes, I rated Foggy's post as funny (because it was), but it's also true. You'll be hard pressed to find many around here that will recommend a Smok product, due to a poor quality record. To be fair, though - part of that may be because they sell so much. Seems most of the new introductory posts here tell us they started with a Smok because that's what their local vape shop sold them.

I've heard good things about the Fireluke and bad things about SMOK. Nonetheless, they will work together. Provided the SMOK works at all, of course.;) The problem with SMOK seems to be quality control/reliability. You may have a decent mod or you may have a dud.

You are wise to ask about batteries. There are a number of things you need to know to use them safely. Two excellent resources are:
The key thing to know is that just because your mod says it's a 230 w mod doesn't mean that there are any batteries that will let you vape safely at 230 w. Batteries have a CDR (continuous discharge rating), and the CDR of your batteries will determine your maximum safe wattage. Baditude and Mooch will explain it all in the links above. In any case, my understanding is that your tank works better at 30 - 40 w than 230 w, and there are plenty of batteries that will get you there.

Another note is that it tends to be better to charge your batteries in an external charger than in a mod. Like the batteries, it's important to get a good one. Baditude and Mooch are once again ready to help you pick one:
Good luck!

Welcome and glad you joined.
Nice to read about a new vaper who know what they want. I'm a minimalist, so I can't really make any equipment recommendations other than pointing you to good reading articles:

In General lower ohm coils/higher wattage vaping:
More Expensive
Heat The Coil Faster
Produce More Vapor, can mute taste (coat mouth/build up)
Drain The Battery Faster/shorten life
Use E-Juice Faster
Produce A Warmer Tasting Vape
Shorten Coil Life
Shorten Wick Life
May Produce more Dry Hits
Uses more liquid
May be less healthier - higher temps.
May Produce Spit Back
More PV Maintenance/Issues
More irritation to non vapers (tends create more negative comments regarding cloud production)
More exposure to carcinogens at high temps

Not a fan of any SMOK product myself.

I've been looking for new tanks that fit my vaping profile, as the tanks I currently have were first manufactured a few years ago and their coils are starting to become scarce to find online. The FreeMax Mesh pro is one that I'm researching. I have the Geekvape Cerberus tank and I'm quite pleased with it and its mesh drop in coils.

Thanks to all who linked to my blog articles. ;)

Concerning batteries, with a regulated mod the amp rating of the battery determines how many watts you can coax from the chip.

Are you using a single, dual, or triple battery mod? In the interests of keeping things simple:

-If you use a good quality 15 amp CDR battery like the Samsung 30Q or Sony VTC6, then you are good up to 45 watts per battery; 90 watts using two; 135 watts for three batteries.

-If you use a good quality 20 amp CDR battery like the LG HG2 or Samsung 25R then you are good for 60 watts per battery. If using a 2-battery regulated mod, you're good for 120 watts as you have two batteries. If you are using a 3-battery mod, you're good for 180.

-If you use a single 25 amp CDR battery like the Sony VTC5A, then you are good for 75 watts per battery, 150 watts for two batteries, and 225 watts with three.

-If you use a single 30 amp CDR battery like the LG HB6 you are good up to 90 watts; with a pair of 30 amp CDR batteries you could safely do 180 watts.

Personally I would go with the Freemax Mesh Pro or the Freemax Pro (coil compatible with each other) before the Freemax Mesh. The Pro & Mesh Pro have many more coil options available.
coil compatiible:
Fireluke
Pro
Mesh Pro

Good middle of the road tank power wise I'm trying out is the Innokin iSub B. Several coil options including the plexus coils (their version of mesh coils). Pretty happy with it so far. Flavor is spot on and coil is holding up well.

As far as mods I just can't recommend a Smok due to QC. Smoant, Aspire, Eleaf, Vaporesso, GeekVape are a few brands that would likely last you longer.

I order my batteries from Liion Wholesale, great vendor.

Vaping for fun? Nic or not, inhaling chemicals into your lungs is not a healthy thing to do imo

I like Smok, overall.
They make innovative products. They are not a tobacco company playing at turning away from the dark side.
I wouldn't buy any but many customers are happy enough. It's not like anyone has a perfect track record since Provari tried and ultimately failed, More's the shame. Enjoy it. Try another make of coil if you can find one. I use 2 Smok products (free gifts) and use Vapesoon coils :)

Yeah, I'm out too. Can't be a part of helping somebody start a habit like that. My son never smoked, started vaping zero nic years ago for fun. Eventually added a little nic, up to 3mg. Now 6 years later he's dropped the sub-ohming, and addicted to Juuls. Not a good idea to do it for fun, with or without nic.

Welcome Shiraz...

I use for my daily vape a vaporesso polar with the cascade tank which is best IMO with the mesh coils. Good trusty easy to use product. But as has been said think about the health issues before you continue....but if it's a choice between smoking and vaping definitely stick to the vaping.....good luck :)

Lol my bad.. what i meant by fun was not seriously vaping all the time, noting hardcore, and i get that even vaping is bad for you but it helps me out when im stressful, i just occasionly vape when i want to, i have enough self controll to stop when i need too, never smoked or drinked in my life, and i dont want to start no. Thank you for your concerns but im gonna be ok :)
