For its first "regulated" Mod, the Chinese company Hellvape has decided to invest in an ambitious project, that is to combine the robustness of a "one-piece" CNC-machined body with the lightness of the most commonly used Ergal (7075 aluminum alloy). in the aerospace industry.

Thus AREZ 120 unibody Mod was born, this device is compatible with a single 21700/20700/18650 battery and can deliver up to 120W.
On the front of the device is a large 0.96 "display that can be customized by the user with seven different background colors.

According to Hellvape, the chipset is provided by a Chinese company of the first level that has tested it for a long time before completing it, do you think that the control buttons would have passed the test of 100,000 clicks.

Arez 120 First impressions:
In the rather compact package you will find; naturally the Arez 120 mod contained in turn in a protective cellophane casing, the user manual, a warning card, a USB-C charging cable and an adapter for the 18650 battery hidden inside the compartment / battery.

Arez 120 is currently available in 3 different color versions; Blackish Green, Gunmetal and Matte Black which is the version of this test. As usual I have got luck and got my favorite color (thanks Hellvape).
Hellvape has also posted some other potential additional colorways on social media. Some of these look really fashonable if they are ever made for the market.

Reading the features and construction materials used to make this Mod you will immediately understand that it is a robust and at the same time light product, and it really is! With only 100g net, the Arez 120 slightly exceeds the Pico75, the latter is one of the historical mods often used by vaper's as a "comparison" sometimes improper for what concerns weight and handling comparisons with other Mods.

Arez Mod has achieved this extraordinary result (in terms of weight) with the use of an ultralight material such as 7075 aluminum alloy (Ergal). The only SS steel parts are; the top plate and the battery compartment cap. Hellvape wanted to create something special for its first regulated mod, so it was a really good choice to use the aeronatutic alloy (Ergal) due to its lightness and high mechanical strength.
Don't you also think it would be nice if all manufacturers used ergal instead of zinc alloy? Personally I think so.

Arez 120 CNC Machining:
Particular attention was also paid to the design and precision of the finishes, so starting from a single block of 7075 aluminum alloy, 9 milling techniques were used combined with 1,800T punches for forming. This allowed an extraordinary precision of the shapes with tolerances in the order of ± 0.001mm. In the next phase, the metal is subjected to two polishing operations with superfine sandblasting through very small glass spheres. Finally, a high protection surface finish is applied, called 7H. The attention to detail is amazing and the different processing stages of Arez 120 Mod are available to anyone through some interesting videos on the official Hellvape Youtube channel.

Arez 120 Lightness and feeling:
Arez 120 is really compact, it is very comfortable and light to hold in the hand. The edges are smooth and perfectly rounded, the grooves on the side panels together with the two protrusions above and below the recessed front section offer the thumb and fingers a stable and secure grip.

Arez 120 Front and back:
Unusual but convenient also the arrangement of the "+" and "-" buttons located at the top above the display, just below the "Fire" button. The 3 buttons are protruding and easily reachable, they are free of any imperfection or abnormal movement, you must press them firmly otherwise it may seem that there are activation problems, however you get used to it quickly to exert more pressure.
You can also safely forget to lock the "+" and "-" adjustment buttons because they will hardly activate when you put the mod in your bag or pocket. The best thing is always to turn off the mod when you are not using it and this applies to all devices.

Below the buttons, there is the 0.96 "color OLED screen, the interface adopted by Hellvape contains all the information useful for vaping. The characters are well readable and bright, especially by setting the background to green or white. .. A smart feature of the Hellvape chipset, is to display the current voltage (volts) of the battery even when the device is not in use. After activating via the Fire button, the real voltage (volts) used by the coil is visible .

The small and unobtrusive white logo in the lower part of the handle area also contributes to the super clean, sober and elegant appearance of this new Mod. This logo consists of the word "Arez" and the wording below "Powered by Hellvape".

Arez 120 Above and below:
In the upper part there is a sandblasted plate, but of a different color and material (stainless steel). This part has been pressed into the "unibody" frame and is held firmly in place by 3 torx screws.

The plate has the 510 thread directly obtained on it and comfortably accommodates atomizers up to 26mm. The 510 thread is slightly raised to avoid scratches on the surface when screwing / unscrewing the various tanks. The thread is smooth, the 510 pin is plated / gold and spring loaded.

In the lower part of Arez 120 you will find the screw cap of the compartment / battery, with 4 safety vent holes. On the outside, the cap bears the writing "Hellvape", the disposal logo and the C E mark. Also on the bottom, shifted to the side is the type-C charging socket with the small "Made in China" writing next to it.

Arez 120 cells 18650/20700/21700:
The battery cap is internally marked (-) negative pole. Then on the bottom of the compartment / battery is the "unmarked" positive pole (+).
The thread cap is quite smooth, oversized 21700 cells such as the Golisi can be installed in the compartment without any problem. The considerable spring excursion of the positive pole eliminates any noise of the batteries inside the Mod.
Required to install a classic 18650 cell, the supplied plastic adapter.

There is a battery selection screen when you turn it on, so you need to confirm the type of cell you have installed. If you install a 18650, the power is limited to 80W, if you choose a 20700 the limit is 100W while if you use a 21700 you can take advantage of all the power of Arez Mod which is 120W.

Arez 120 & Tank's:
I find the possibility of using atomizers up to 26mm in diameter a very balanced choice, mainly because Arez 120 is a compact Mod and on the market there are very performing and small RTA Tank for DL / RDL like those of Hellvape; Dead Rabbit V2, Destiny, Rebirth, but also the interesting RTAs for MTL; 24mm MD Tank or 22mm Vertex Tank which once installed both fit perfectly into the compact Arez style.

Probably some "MTL" users could turn up their noses since from 5 to 10W the power is adjustable by 0.5W at a time and then by 1W at a time. It would have been better for these users if the setting of 0.5W at a time had been extended to at least 20W.

Arez 120 Chipset:
In the introduction I had anticipated how the company that supplies this card to Hellvape had made severe durability tests, and above I also described how the power steps from 5 to 10W and from 10 to 120W occur. Someone could also object to the fact that this is a card that uses only the power mode (VW) and that in such a beautiful and interesting Mod it is a bit too "Entry-level" detail.

The chipset for what it offers works well on average, manages the battery discreetly and has all the necessary security options. Furthermore, if out of curiosity you want to look at the board, just unscrew the 3 screws on the upper plate and extract the entire electronic unit rather quickly.

I have noticed that the chassis heats up slightly if you compulsively vape, however the aluminum dissipates the heat quite quickly, while the steel parts like the battery cap and top plate always remain appreciably cool.

• Power on / off: 5 clicks on the Fire button in less than 2 seconds

• Theme colors: Press the "+" and "-" buttons together, you can choose between: Green, White / Black, Blue, Red, Black / White, Orange, Blue.
• Power regulation: from 5 to 10W with steps of 0.5W at a time and from 10 to 120W with steps of 1W at a time.
• 18650 cell: Maximum power 80W
• 20700 cell: Maximum power 100W
• Cell 21700: Maximum power 120W

Final Conclusions:
During the review I hope I have best described my feelings in front of Arez 120 Mod unibody, but before leaving you with the "Highlights" I would like to congratulate Hellvape for designing something "different" and for having used extraordinary workmanship and quality materials to maker this beautiful product attractive!

I just received one two days ago that I purchased and started having problems with the fire button firing the device already. However, Hellvape was very responsive and have promised to send a new unit from the new upgraded batch.
