Hi Guys,

First time poster, long time lurker here :)

I hope someone can help me with the following...

I started vaping about 5 months ago and decided to go with SmokelessImage because of the great reviews on here. I used to love my batteries but in the last five months 2 out of 3 batteries died on me. Is this normal?

First manual died after a couple of weeks and this new Volt X2 just quit yesterday. They offered to replace it even though its out of the 3 month warranty period so I really like the customer service, however I am thinking of switching to a more reliable battery.

I really love my T3 clearomizers.. great throat hit, great taste, no leaks, etc. Is there another battery I can use them with?
Please help! I am currently using a small manual but I miss my x2 so much!!!

Thanks!

Fanny

If you've been vaping 5 months it might be time for an upgrade in your equipment.

And btw congratz. 5 months is awesome!

You might be ready for some 510 compatible devices. They are more standard than your 808 devices. 510 threading will offer you more options all around.

My first upgrade was a Kgo 1100 mAh battery. It lasted me 1- 1 1/2 days between charges. I got 2 batteries in a kit for about $42 & they worked great for 9 months. You will also find the Ego Twist & the Spinner out there. They are supposed to be good batteries also. I would recommend that you go with at least a 3.7 volt device as the regular Ego batteries are lower voltage & a 5-month vaper will probably be unsatisfied with less than 3.7-4.2 volts.

PS I think they make the T3 clearo that you like in a 510 thread.

my ego style batteries dont last me very long either and i try to take care of my things. ive gone through maybe 3 to 4 ego styles and i even ordered some as backups. i think they are good for only that...backups.

a valid point that brought me to purchase an apv was that if an ego style battery breaks, you'd have to toss the battery and buy a new one. where as other products will be a bit more reliable because of an external battery. i purchased the vamo at the end of jan from exhale and ive been using that ever since. its very sturdy and ive accidentally dropped it from about 5 feet to asphalt with no problems. the vamo has ego threads too, but the t3 wont fit because it has a wider base than most ego clearomizers.

granted youre probably not going to get the same service, but at least you wont be replacing your gear every couple of months

Unless youre using a different VAMO than i am, VAMOs dont have eGo threading.

Its time to upgrade, OP - a VAMO is a very good choice, buy a 510-eGo adapter and you will be all set.

I used one of these last night on my vamo. i was surprised it worked too because i also thought it wasnt ego threaded.

its an ego f1 clearomizer. the threads are on the outside and not on the actual atomizer part. you can see it on this picture better

my vamo does not fit my ego threaded kanger t3s because the base of the t3 is too wide and wont fit.
got my vamo from exhalevapors. chrome version with the new fatter spring. if that makes any difference

You got some good use out of those disposables batteries. 5 months is a good run. The Ego's are only rated for ~250 charges, same as the ones you have now. If that concerns you, then you should buy something that HOLDS disposable batteries (which are cheap and last ~300 charges, but hold a charge much, much longer). Someone suggested a Vamo, I like mine but it is a backup to more durable models I have.

Good luck finding a system that works for you!

Welcome Fanny!

Everything in the vaping world is semi-disposable, that's something you just need to get used to. All batteries have a limit on the number of times they can be recharged, all atomizers have a limited number of burns before they burn out, all clearos and tanks have a limited number of refills before they leak, etc etc.

Certain activities will shorten that limited life. Low resistance heads burn out quicker and need to be replaced sooner, LR heads also drain your battery faster which equals shorter vaping time between recharges which equals more recharges within any given amount of time, certain flavorings will crack or melt your clearos, etc etc (again!)

Items that typically have longer lifes are usually more expensive. There's usually (but not always) a valid reason why a particular battery may be $30 while a clone of that battery might be $17. The same concept applies to clearos, tanks, and just about any other component you can think of. ymmv

It's always worth trying alternatives until you find the cost/product life combination that you feel comfortable with.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and replies!

I didn't know batteries were disposable :(
I would totally pay more to be able to change batteries at a lower cost so I'll research that option - Thanks!

I am still having difficulty understanding all the vaping jargon from your comments but I'll start researchin right away because I miss my x2 so much...

I'll probably update this thread later today with more questions :p

I had this same problem. My first battery on an (I think they call it an 808 style?) automatic volt stopped working a few days after I got it, but smokelessimage's customer service is awesome and they sent me a replacement. Then I bought a X2 about 2 months ago and now it has died and I have to return it. I don't think this is normal but smokelessimage's customer service is pretty outstanding and they are going to replace it.
I found this thread because I was in the same boat. A lot of good information here.
