Hey guys! i just got a AGA T2 today in the mail and i wasted 6 feet in coil trying to get this thing to work
i gave up for today from the frustration of the hot spot's by the center post that will never go away and from Hot Spot's leading to coils breaking.
i was practicing making coils on a kanger protank for 3? moths just to get a rba and i love my coils i make for my protank and never had a problem
even if i had a hot spot issue it was fixed by just tweaking the coil here and there

now! when i made my ss mesh wick i did not have a Torch lighter
i was getting a bic lighter lighting the ss mesh untill it turned orange then put some non flavor VG on it and set it on fire. did that about? 5-6 times? in the same order

now do you guys think im making ....ty coils?
or is my wick the problem?. i only made 1 wick it fits but its a pretty snug fit,
am i making my coil too tight?
did i not oxidize my wick correctly
whats the damn resolution because i cant figure it out?

i even tried putting the top end of my wick close but not touching to the center pin

please some one help me lol

Few things to try

Really oxidize the wick like a lot until its glowing red for about ten seconds

Raise the wick so it's not touching the bottom

Make sure you have at least four wraps of kanthal

Make sure the wire is snug to the connectors (I don't use the tower pin for mesh only for silica)

Just my advice don't know if it will even help

I'm not really using my AGA all that much since getting my Terminator and Kayfun, but I'm going to try and help out here. I'm definitely not an expert when it comes to genesis style atomizers, so try to confirm what I'm suggesting before taking it as truth:

Try pushing the top of the wick a little closer to the center post to make the length of the top leg as close as you can to the length of the bottom leg. Or try and find a couple of washers to put onto the center post to move the contact point outward, closer to the wick.

My understanding, based on things I've read, is that top leg hot spot is the result of the wick hole placement in the AGA. When the wick is standing straight up, you'll notice that the top leg is noticeably longer than the bottom leg. I can't explain why, but that difference in length causes a hot spot.

If you search google images for pictures of the top decks on some of the other popular genesis atomizers you'll notice that the positive and negative posts are pretty much equidistant from the wick hole. Not the case the the AGA :(

Shortening the top leg should help. If you decide on pushing the wick over, be careful that the coil doesn't dig into the wick.

Hope this helps!

PS, if more seasoned gennie users want to chimes in here, please correct me if I'm wrong about anything--I certainly don't want to be a source of misinformation.

One thing I've learnt is to be patient with the coil. What everyone here has said, oxidise the wick well, keep it off the bottom of the tank. You can tilt the wick in but just looking at mine it is straight right now.

Try annelaing the wire first (heating it through) either with a torch or even a lighter. This makes the wire softer enabling you to wrap the coils easier. When you wrap take your time and make sure the coils are tight around the wick. If it is bending too much, use a syringe or straightened paper clip to keep the wick straight. ANother method you could use to wrap coils is the PetarK method using a drill bit in the wick hole, wrap you coil around the drill bit, remove the drill bit then gentle slide the wick in. Using this method the wick will need to be the same diameter as the drill bit you use. Should be plenty of youtube videos on this method.

Watch lots of youtube videos - pbusardo, igetcha69, riptrippers et al the Zen one is a good one to watch too. Boils down to practice and take heart that most of us had frustrations with coiling at one time or another (still do)
