I have been using 2 mechanical mods for just over a month now. I usually use either 28, 26, or 24 gauge wire. I have gotten my ohm's down to 1.5 but I am having trouble bringing it down lower. If anyone can help with the gauge wire and number of wraps needed that would be appreciated.
I am using a PANZER by MCV with a sony vtc5 and a Plume Vail dripper by aether tech. I also have a telescopic BEAUTICIG same battery unless I shorten it then I use a efest 3.7v 800mAh or a AW 3.7v 700mAh both IMR 18350 high drain batteries. With a STILLARE dripper

Classy is right on. Sorry I seem to be stalking you today dear...

Welcome to ECF, MillCity...

At the very least, buy a build box/ohm meter... and preferably, that and a digital multi-meter (DMM). With a DMM, you can test voltage, resistance and continuity, quicky and easily.
There are plenty of coil modeling calculators available - Steam Engine being my personal favorite, but... unless you can verify your build, guessing is not only poor form, but potentially dangerous.

It also seems that you might benefit from reading the article found via my first sigline hyperlink... give it a read and gain some knowledge. Cheers. ;-)

That's a really, REALLY great tool for coil builds. If you have a basic digital caliper, it's even better - the more accurate your input information, the closer you'll get to the desired output.

EDIT: Here's a real quick and basic 1.0 ohm with 28 guage Kanthal, and assuming you have something pretty close to 2mm.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!
To answer your question yes I use an ohm's meter but I am new to this and learning as I go. I did end up getting my meter to read 0.09ohm's and its working great actually a bit to good I have to drip all the time but I finally got the clouds I wanted. I also been messing around with making different coils like reg Micro, Agro, and Clapton coils. I really like the agro coil using 30, 28, and 26 gauge wire twisting it up with my drill. I just got a variable wattage setup that needs to run around 0.60 - 1.00 im using 30 gauge wire with 7 wraps to each coil. I tried to lower the ohm's but quickly realized that is not how this setup works. But running around 0.60 with the variable gives huge clouds of vapor with a great flavorful taste. It goes from 7-30 watts im using a sony vtc5 I believe it's a 2600mAh 3.7v battery but even on a half charge at 30w its putting out 5.5v it was a good purchase I do not have to drip as much as my PANZER or BEAUTICIG. still need to fully learn about having variable wattage and what is ideal for running it

The reason for using a variable regulated mod is consistency and safety. Where you set it is what you get until it's time for the battery to be recharged where a mech you're vaping straight from battery voltage which is 4.2ish right off the charger but will drop as it's being used as will your vape experience.

You also need to be mindful if using a mech and not let the battery get to low in voltage, batteries will last you longer if you don't let them drop to to low but you'll probably notice the vape experience dropping as well and want to charge it by that time. With a regulated mod this is taken care of for you as it will let you know when it's time to recharge.

The DNA30 will let you build from .5 ohms up so anything at .5 or above is fine. Where you build is preference and you'll just have to experiment with it and since you can adjust the power you can set the output to your sweet spot so you can be a little higher ohms with your build and just up the wattage to compensate.
