Help I Can Taste the Grommets

I pretty sure I can taste the rubber grommets on my ProTank1 and Vivi Novas. The little grommet on the atty head.

When I notch out slits where the wick touches the rubber, it tastes much better. The problem is when I twist the top on (or bottom on the PT) it usually moves the grommet and than I get that weird taste. I'm fine with any juice with strong flavor. Unfortunately my ADV is very lite on flavor so the rubbery/crappy taste is very pronounced. It also leaks sometimes on the PT and frequently on the Vivi because i've notched it out :/

Does anyone else get this taste? Is there a fix that's better than mine?

I'm sure this taste comes from the grommets because I picked up some dual coil vivi heads and they have a notched grommet on the wick and I don't get that taste.

Can anyone help?

using no grommet on my pro tank and i still get this gross flavor. no idea whats causing this.
