Need experienced vaper advice!

Just started vaping two days ago. I was having a bad reaction to the juice I was vaping - 16mg Menthol - it was giving me headaches and making me wired (had trouble falling asleep). So I went back in to the local smoke shop and asked for a lower nicotine juice. The guy was out of the menthol flavor in the brand I started with (4EverEjuice), and he only had one other brand. So he sold me a bottle of Voda menthol 6mg. He mentioned it has a higher VG content than the first brand, which I thought was a great idea since I was looking to try out a juice with more VG and less PG anyway (to cut down on throat irritation).

Well I tried the new juice and I HATE it. It makes my head feel thick and foggy and my throat feels the same way - like everything is "glopped up" in my lungs and brain. That's the only way I can think to describe it. Feels horrible. Is it the higher VG? Just a terrible brand? What is wrong? I'm so sad because I don't want to go back to cigarettes - I need this to work!

Sensitivity to both PG and VG do happen. If your local B&M makes eJuice, you can try several different concentrations in small batches. I'm assuming that the flavoring was OK? My first reaction, which you responded to, was the vape technique, different than smoking, of course. Second thought was too much PG, but you're still trying to find the right blend of PG/VG for you. The third thought was too high a nic content, which you also mentioned you dropped. So, try 0 nic flavored VG, then 0 nic flavored PG. Check your response. You can dilute one, with the other in small batches to see if it's the ratio, and the nic won't be a factor, until you find what works for you. Then order enough to supply your vaping requirements. Sounds like a PITB, I know, but finding the right juice is part of Vape Quest, we all go through it, it's frustrating and annoying.....until we find what works. Once there, we can fan out and explore other possibilities. Based on the information you've given, that's all I can think of at the moment. Thank you for sharing. I'm worried about you now. I hope you can get past this, and fast, and begin to enjoy this experience ASAP. Best of luck!

Yes it could be the VG, anything more than 60 % VG and I get a heavy feeling in my chest and a greasy feeling in the mouth & throat.

There are several good vape stores in AZ, some will let you try different juices before you buy.
I suggest locating a couple local B&M vape stores and leave the smoke shops alone.

Sorry, I've mis understood.

Yes and no. Ejuice with no VG can also cause this Vap mouth sensation. To be honest, I've been vaping for 2 weeks (I'm new to this also) And I still have Vap mouth sensation in my mouth, Breathing is a little tight. I try to do it less until this subsides.

I have read a few threads here about this and it goes away after a couple weeks to a month.

My suggestion would be , Go back to the other ejuice and try to vap a little less until you can get yourself a new bottle with less nic in it?

Sorry to hear.

as someone mentioned, most of us have to try tons of liquids before we find ones to settle down with, it's just the way the game goes. don't buy big bottles of a new liquid, buy small. it could be the higher vg, it could be the brand, it could just be you :) I've never heard of either of those brands

oh and I vape, I don't know what VAPing is :)

Thanks everyone! I so appreciate you guys - it helps to be able to talk it out.

I need to find a local store that has more options for sure (a real vape store!), and I guess just keep trying till I find what works. I see now that it is quite an adventure to get the set up that works for you... you have to try a lot of combinations. Geez.

I so hate the feeling of this Voda stuff - OMG my head and throat feel like they are filled with oil and soot, if that makes any sense. Yikes! But I'm gonna hang in there - I dripped all the vile stuff out of the clearomizer and put the first liquid back in, even though it's way too high in nicotine. At least it is somewhat enjoyable to vape. Hopefully this weekend I can go exploring in Phoenix and find a place that will help me find the right liquid. Gotta make this work - I'm determined!

What I really wish I could do is go to a meet up where there is an assortment of every kind of mechanism and every kind of liquid. Then I could just try all the possible combinations till I fall in love with something. There is a meet up in Phoenix this month - I'll go check it out probably... but I doubt it will be the complete smorgasbord I'm dreaming of.

I here ya, Freedom Smokes in Tucson lets you sample 5 different flavors each time to go there and I've only found 2 that I liked enough to buy so far and I've tried 15 different flavors.....Finding the right flavor is proving more difficult than I thought....AND I'm noticing my tatse are changing to where what I thought I liked at first isn't very good anymore......

Go taste testing this weekend....good luck

VWLS, Synergy Vapor Labs in Mesa on the S/E corner of Southern and McClintock have plenty of flavors you can try in the store for free... Great guys in that store as well!!! or you can try Vapor Vortex in Phoenix. I've never been to this b&m but I hear they have a great store.

Thanks so much! Mesa is really far from me, so I'm going to try to find something in north or northwest Phoenix, but if I come up short, hell - I'll make that drive )

I am very new to this, less than a week into it. I kinda had this all fall into my lap because of a e cig my wife brought home.

Did some research and found a local shop near where I live in Phoenix, Hi-Tec Vapor ( Northern & I-17 ). They were so very helpful, spent almost an hour with me, they make their own juices and let you try as many as you would like.

Ended up with a kit and some flavors, have not had an analog since I walked out the door ( 4 days now ).

If you are near that part of town, I would highly recommend them.
