Hey folks. I have some good news to report. Ever
since finding a fabulous juice, I now most days go without
any analogs! But.. There are times when I still want an analog :0(
Been doing good like this for about 11 days or so. I can
breath better than I have in 20 years! Sooo why do I still
even want one? I guess I'm the type where I can't even
have one. Oh another thing, why am I not coughing up
more junk? I am so thankful for everyone being here
and helping each other in this quest! Love n hugs, your
now healthier fellow vapor, sick :)

2 things that really helped me. I haven't had an analog since receiving my PV.

1) Rather than looking at it as quitting analogs, I simply switched brands.

2) Don't pressure yourself...Forbidden fruit is always tempting.

My coughing didn't start until giving up the analogs for 2wks. Some folks the time is shorter, some longer.

Hello, I quit after 20 years the day I bought my first pv. I was still trying to wrap my head around vaping and working so hard not to go back. I obsessively read the benifits timeline over and over for days. It kept me going, staying in the fight if you will. I will paste it below, and when you are feeling the urge, maybe reading this will help you like it did me. :)

■In 20 minutes, your blood pressure and pulse rate decrease, and the body temperature of your hands and feet increase.
■Carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke reduces the blood’s ability to carry oxygen. At 8 hours, the carbon monoxide level in your blood decreases to normal. With the decrease in carbon monoxide, your blood oxygen level increases to normal.
■At 24 hours, your risk of having a heart attack decreases.
■At 48 hours, nerve endings start to regrow and the ability to smell and taste is enhanced.
■Between 2 weeks and 3 months, your circulation improves, walking becomes easier and you don’t cough or wheeze as often. Phlegm production decreases. Within several months, you have significant improvement in lung function.
■In 1 to 9 months, coughs, sinus congestion, fatigue and shortness of breath decrease as you continue to see significant improvement in lung function. Cilia, tiny hair-like structures that move mucus out of the lungs, regain normal function.
■In 1 year, risk of coronary heart disease and heart attack is reduced to half that of a smoker.
■Between 5 and 15 years after quitting, your risk of having a stroke returns to that of a non-smoker.
■In 10 years, your risk of lung cancer drops. Additionally, your risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney and pancreas decrease. Even after a decade of not smoking however, your risk of lung cancer remains higher than in people who have never smoked. Your risk of ulcer also decreases.
■In 15 years, your risk of coronary heart disease and heart attack in similar to that of people who have never smoked. The risk of death returns to nearly the level of a non-smoker

If you used to smoke outdoors, but now vape indoors, try vaping outside where you used to smoke when you have a craving. If you're used to breaking up your day by periodically getting up, getting some fresh air, and doing nothing but smoking a cigarette and now you just vape constantly inside while going about your business, maybe it's not the cigarette you're really craving, but the activities that go along with it. I know that has helped me with cravings...even something as simple as cracking the window when I'm driving makes me feel more like I'm smoking and takes away the craving.

i haven't had an analog since the day i got my 510...and it was so easy, i couldn't believe it (and i'd smoked over a pack a day for over 20yrs)...however, fast forward to almost 3 months later, and it's *now* that i'm going through what you are...

when that severe urge happens, i've been able to resist so far by using higher nic juice in peppermint or menthol (and i *hated* menthol analogs), and reading this forum for inspiration/distraction.

I'm 3 months into vaping only. That's not counting the period where I vaped and smoked cigarettes as well.

I'm like you where I haven't really coughed at all since quitting for good. I did all that while I was smoking. Now nothing comes up which I hope is a good sign.

Try to focus on those positives and use this handy little calculator to predict how good you are going to feel from whatever date you choose to see forecast:

vapersalley dot com/signature/

This will tell you how much better your lungs should be functioning.
How much your coronary risk is lowered; and
How your energy level is increasing.

When I played with it, I forecasted that I'll be at 100% within 9 months for lungs and energy, a miraculous thing, right?!

But if I go back to smoking just one, which of course will be the entire pack, I will have to start all over again, with the withdrawals, the counter, the expectations and the misery. Everyday that you don't smoke, just remember that that's taking another step further from the fire.

Edit: The url doesn't seem to want to work here so I spelled it out for you. I'm not endorsing that site. It's just the only place I know that has one.

I think it's absolutely Awesome when I hear of someone quitting the moment they get their first PV, but in reality, this only happens with a small amount of ppl. Everything has to be right for this to happen. The right ecig, the right nic %, the right time to quit (no current stressors, and ample support from loved ones helps). Not saying everything has to be perfect, but it helps.

When I actually quit about 2 months ago (after 2 years of on and off vaping), hearing everyone say it was easy didn't ever help me in any way, not to say it wasn't nice to hear though. Nothing worth having is ever easy, so what helped me (and everyone is different) was:

~Always have one cigarette sitting in a place where it is easily accessible, this may sound too
tempting, but in reality, we all want what we cant have (or what we refuse ourselves), so if
you have it, you don't crave it (in theory).

~If you do slip, crap happens, and it'll probably taste like crap, if you only take one puff, remember what it tasted like so you won't want to taste it again. If you smoke the whole thing, you'll prolly end up getting sick, remember that feeling.

~When you smoke, look at the cig while your taking a drag, sounds silly, but when you realize whats in there, and what its doing to your body, you'll think twice before doing it again.

~(This sounds gross, but it WORKS) - Take a couple cig butts that have been smoked, and put them in a container (I put mine in an old pill bottle, after taking the label off) and when your craving a cig, open it up & take a whiff. The unholy smell alone will haunt your dreams. (Keep this bottle by your one cigarette from the first tip).

Not everyone (including me) has the willpower and dedication to quit the first time, which is evidence of all the NRT's ppl spend millions on each year. But when you do it's a glorious thing.

Sorry for such a long and drawn out post, and I hope you the best of Luck!

I started vaping when I had 10 ciggies left in my pack. I never bought another pack. Absolutely zero desire to smoke. I had finally gotten what I wanted all along, clean, pure, menthol explosions in my mouth. The last three tasted like the worst things I could ever imagine putting in my mouth, but I smoked those last three. Honestly, I have *thought* about having a cigarette, but the thought is quickly replaced with a very yukky thought of that taste. Why even bother when I have something so yummy tasting right here in my hand? The thought disappears in a matter of moments.

Now, I barely even put a few drops of menthol in my juice, and that's just to smooth it out some.
