Long story short: have not vaped for a year.

Literally quit cigarettes today b/c I got my Pico Kit, etc from VapeNW.

I know how to prime coils, I'm not a freakin newbie. I even set up a new friend with a Nautilus Mini to get HER off cigs.

Anyway, I set everything up correctly. Brought the Vaporesso .9 coils up gradually from 20 watts up. What I've noticed, even after temporarily swapping the Melo stock coils in, is that the tank gets RIDICULOUSLY warm. Like it stays warm for a bit even after shutting the Pico off! My Subtank Mini never acted this way. I've only been using 3 and 6 mg e-juice and I'm having coughing fits due (I assume?) to the warm and strong throat hit. (I sure as .... hope it's not ceramic-related). I literally can't lung hit on this, it's that harsh. (fyi, the juice I'm using is 70/30)

I don't know if this is a battery issue, a mod issue, or a tank issue. (the stock coils were even worse than the Vaporesso, so I think I've safely concluded it's probably not a coil issue).

IS THIS NORMAL? And if it's not, what do I do? VapeNW is notorious for having a crappy return policy, and I should note that when unboxing the kit, I noticed white smudge marks (that finally came off with wet paper towel) and a small carve mark on the bottom coil base part of the tank. I don't know if I got a lemon, if that's just low-level cosmetic damage and if it's completely unrelated to the problem, but it's a genuine tank. I also noticed the LG 2 battery was slightly marked up as well. I filmed my unboxing so I can prove it all came like that.

Any thoughts?

UPDATE FOR ANYONE WHO CARES AT ALL: had friend stick her naut mini on, no heat issues. not a box or battery issue more than likely. im thinking tank issue, connector issue, maybe coil issue (doubtful).

Good luck quitting this time...

I would:
1.Put a Nautilus Mini on the pico
2.set at 10-12 watts
3. ??????
4. Profit!!

Cheers

the good luck sounded sarcastic..."this time". REALLY hope it wasn't. it's not luck, it's preparation meets opportunity pal.

anyway, I hate the mini - I hate bottom tanks and not enough vapor. plus too small.

I also want interchangeable coils to still go with my melo (assuming someone here can actually determine for me if it's a lemon or not) which I will only use for 0 nic. I'm thinkin about the triton 2 actually. can still use those on the melo and has 1.8 coils...plus 3 ml Capac.

But you only mentioned wanting more battery life...I didn't see you mention any dissatisfaction with the mini or I would not have encouraged you to continue with it.

huh?

I never once mentioned battery life...

It's YOU.
Firstly ceramic atomizer heads DO get hot, it's the nature of the beast.
Secondly Melo3 is more of a lunghit tank meaning if you try to mtl you DO get harash hits.
Also the third thing is you just quit, sure as hell it's gonna make you cough.

no, d ouche, it's the ceramic, which you LITERALLY just confirmed. and then another poster confirmed BELOW YOU. that is the DEFINITION textbook of hypocrisy and irony.

secondly, you're an idiot. melo3 can take 1.8 ohm coils and definitely is capable of MTL, in fact it's one of the few on the mark that DOES do both.

third, I was coughing because of the hot vapor and harsh throat hit...d ouche.

fourthly, you're definitely a d ouche for getting aggressively butthurt over someone's dilemma that doesn't affect you AT ALL. c unt. go complain to the mods.

I tried a .5 ceramic today for the first time... had some that came with my protank 4... yeap nope not staying in my tank... sure I sub and it gets hot, but that was way too hot for me to be comfortable with... maybe in the dead of winter I can use it to help warm up my truck...

lol see! this chick literally defies what that jerk had to say above. ceramics get hot AND ESPECIALLY in a small ... tank. that's what I realized the problem was. got a triton 2 now and much less warm even with my vaporesso in.

but you are wrong in a way - in my case, it wasn't the ceramic, rather the melo mini is just crap for ventilating. it was WORSE with the SS stock.

sure it's 22mm, but it's also a 5 ml tank, the base kept leaking through the airholes, it got hot enough it was like water... I like long drawn out hits...6-10 seconds. it was a really bad idea.

that's not the coils then hun. that's your tank. I don't know what your particular problem is then, that's weird. you're a kanger gal right? I will say from prolonged experience that kanger is hit or miss with leaking. they're finicky as .....

try changing your drip tip to delrin or something better for absorbing heat, idk. also depends WHICH ceramic you got. I have vaporesso at .9. wouldn't do .5, too harsh.

but yeah, when it gets hot like that, it sucks. my lips felt like they were getting scalded.

nope was the coil and the liquid getting too hot... I'm vaping a .5 Clapton 30w, not as hot and no leaks, didn't leak with the .3 Clapton duals either 25w...

the ceramic vapes hot to begin with... it's a 35-70w... I rarely vape above 30w anyhow.

the driptip this comes with ois one that can be vented, has its own airholes, it wasn't hot, the base of the tank going up was, starting from the coil area.

still could be your tank bud. some aren't suitable for ceramic for w/e reason.

anyway, no need to challenge me on your stuff. I'm offering sugggestions. what i can say is either you got a bad coil, or a bad brand. I've had zero leaks from vaporessos.

the problem then is that you need(ed) to vape higher with ceramic and that probably started the problem. too high wattage. I'm going back to SS anyway.

I like ss and kanthal anyhow, they're what I build with.. I just thought, what the hell give it a go since I was about to change coils anyhow. I'm going to stick with what I like, besides I have a pair of dripboxes to play with tomorrow, they should arrive by then... canuck store, not FT hehehehe.

kanthal .5 got REALLY hot for me. like i said, depends on the tank, the coil, the brand, everything.

i stick now to aspire tanks and eleaf mods.
