The guy told you it’s what you wanted? He may have been referring to the mod (the bottom battery bit). It’s a very versatile mod. It may also depend on what the store was selling. It may have been the thing they had that best fit the things you said you wanted out of a device.
They only sell starter kits and I said I’d like a kit that was DTL and he said this was

Ah. Well he was right. It is.
An 80w LiPo is a pretty small battery for DL. 80w is the maximum wattage it can output which is fine for DL. Battery life is measured in mah (milliampere hours) I don’t know how many mah that mod battery has. Probably not enough for an all day DL vape. Many all day DL mods are quite large dual or sometimes even triple 18650 battery removable systems which can have up to 6000-9000 mah. Energy requirements for MTL are much lower though.
The bright side is it should be a pretty good mod for MTL. There may be other coil cartridges for that tank that will work better for your needs than the one you currently have installed. Because the mod is VV it will fire at whatever wattage you set it at. Whether the coil cartridge will work well at that wattage is another question.

One thing you want to consider, the guy at the shop set up your first coil and all was well. But often kits come with two different coils... one higher resistance than the other. So the wattage the vape shop guy set your mod to with the first coil probably won’t work with the other coil you got.

If you haven’t taken it back yet, look at the box. In the fine print it should tell you what coils were included. When you get more coils, get the ones you used first that worked for you.

I do understand the frustration. Same for me when I first started. Wonky gear that worked then didn’t for no apparent reason about drove me up a wall lol.
Lol it never worked for me, straight out of the shop it was painful. One coil is mesh I believe as well. Just really turned me off of vaping y know

In general "starter" kit just means it is complete; battery unit and tank, not that it is best for beginners.

If the sales person did not show you how to get a satisfying vape before you left, he/she has failed you.
If it sucks in the shop, it will probably suck in the long term.

Can anyone suggest the perfect vape for someone who just quit smoking? One that feels like a cigarette and isn’t harsh? Cheap as well in Australia? Thanks
Heh. If only it were that easy. Tons of suggestions could be made. The problem is everyone is different. Cigarettes have a lot of different factors that a person can be dependent on. Some are more dependent on high throat hit, some are more dependent on nicotine itself, some are more dependent on the draw. It varies to different degrees with different people.
My suspicion at this point is throat hit is not your thing though that could very well be incorrect.

A pod device is perfect for starters.
But since you already have this mod, you need to pair it with a good MTL tank. Nautilus would be my choice. Zlide and Zenith are well regarded as well, but I didn't try them. Go for higher resistance coils to start with 0.7-1.8 ohms.
Strange you wanted to start with DL. The sales person should've advised you for MTL. Most, if not all, start as MTL. Some later change to DL (save your skrr tank, you might end up liking it). MTL is the more "natural" cigarette-like way to vape.
Patience and persistence pays. We all had bumpy beginnings. It'll work if you keep trying. Promise.
Good luck

G'day mate and glad you joined.
Since vaping is totally scalable, the choice you have can be overwhelming. Perhaps the main thing to remember is only you the user knows how the equipment is going to be used and it's incumbent upon the buyer to tailor the purchase to encompass the feature(s) desired to obtain near perfect optimal vaping performance/experience.
Might like to read Bad's (esp. "Mouth To Lung (MTL) VS Direct To Lung (DTL) Vaping: A Full Guide On Different Vaping Styles") opus:

You can keep the same mod that you have just unscrew the tank and my strong suggestion is to buy yourself a Zenith tank and screw that on instead. It will be more easy going on your throat.
And its readily available in Australia:thumb:

It becomes a question of what the B&M store will do for her. If they will return the whole kit for cash she can buy anything else. What then becomes a question. If she can return her whole kit for credit it becomes a question of what else they carry. Walking out and buying a zenith may or may not be better depending on what they have. If they won’t return it at all IMHO it is unquestionably the best option. That included vapresso atty is only worth maybe Au$25. The mod under it is pretty decent though.
