Morning,

Glad I found this forum. My name is Tim and I am a smoker, its time to quit. I have been smoking about 20 years.

There are so many choices out there for vaping and I am over welmed. I think I have it narrowed down to a Provari or Evic and a Vivi Nova. Just not sure what I need for this system, I am I missing anything? IS there a better system? Any advice would be great.

Tim

I agree with Boneshark. Don't start with the high end, expensive gear, just in case you don't take to ecigs.

A Twist or Spinner, cartos or CE5 / Stardust tanks, or a Vivi, and a variety of juice. Test the waters before jumping in :2cool:

The advantage of cartos is that they're cheap, and allow you to have several going at once, with different juices in them. If you have a brick and mortar store in reach, they'll usually let you sample different flavors on the spot.

You don't say how much or what you've been smoking, but I'd recommend 24 or 18 on the nic level.

I started with 18, and for me it wasn't enough. After the first week of vaping and smoking, I switched up to 24, and haven't had a cig since. YMMV.

I'd been a smoker for some 45 years, the last few, because of exorbitant tobacco taxes in Wa rolling my own (shag cut pipe tobacco, no less!) and about 1 1/2 packs a day. After I got the nic level right for me, I haven't looked back, and haven't missed it.

Good luck!

HI Tim and congratulations on trying to quit smoking .I started with blu cigs an expensive yet useless way to go.Still smoked
6-10 analogs a day .When I got my ego it dropped to 1-2 a day and then dropped them altogether .then went to variable voltage
much better . if you can afford it go for the provari . You will not regret it . I've wasted a lot money on other things only to
start thinking about getting a provari just now .I could have saved a lot money. But found it rather expensive only to find out
that I would have been better off. good luck on your journey and BTW welcome

Hey Tim - I've only been vaping for a couple of weeks but in that time I tried 510Ts, EGO C, EGO Twist and a ProVari Mini with a Vivi Nova. For me the ProVari Mini is the right choice. It feels sturdy, it gives all the information I need and the vapour production is awesome. I'm about to purchase a full sized one for times when longer battery life is important and because I want two ;)

I'm glad I tried the others though. I needed that comparison to appreciate the ProVari as much as I do. My hubby has tried all those others too, and my ProVari Mini but doesn't like the weight or the size. He uses the EGO Twist with a Vivi Nova.

Good luck with it!

ETS: I just noticed you are in Red Deer - I'm about 2 hours away near Edmonton. My favorite Canadian vendor is CanVape for prices, fast service and stock. Here's a link to a great starter kit with lots of variety and a great price:

Agreed that the available options are overwhelming. I did 24 hours of serious research and then jumped into a starter kit with two eGo 900ma batteries, 2 Ce4 clearomizers and some juice. Against the advice of the sales rep, I ordered additional juice all of the same type. I didn't want to deal with flavor options until I'd become comfortable with vaping. Advantages of the eGo clearomizer system I got: high vapor, excellent battery life, cheap refill compared to buying pre-filled cartridges. Also, I didn't want my device to look like a cigarette, as I've already heard "sorry, you can't smoke here" enough to last a lifetime, and want others to see that I am not smoking.

I started with ego twists and vivi novas and was satisfied with that for a long while. Eventually I bought a Provari and it really is better. Now my twists are backups.

If you can afford it, go for the Provari. Get a few full size vivi novas so you can have different flavors going at the same time. They're not my preference but you may also want to try a carto tank - some people prefer them.

If you don't take to e-cigs, you can always come back here and sell your Provari in the classifieds... They resell quickly for about $20 less than what they cost new.

Good luck and I really hope it works out for you! I'll be a year cigarette-free in May and I couldn't be happier. I'm never even tempted to smoke :)

Hi tim!! welcome and congrats on you decision i been vaping 2 weeks now and is so easy so far for me as a heavy smoker for 24 yrs 1 pack a day on good day. any ways my experience getting the wrong kit was with lost of up and downs cause I head the worn kit and there is so much info that your head spins and you want to go with the bigs shiny stuff. I can say that I started vaping with out a problem with an ego-c upgraded battery 900mAh kit thats last me for 36hrs i got it from https://www.ecigbestsave.com/ and pls get lots of juice that you can not go wrong.

I can tell you that 1st week was so disappointed because I had 2 of the wrong kit (was not my VAPE style) and not enough juice. I was vaping and smoking.

Provari is made in the US, and evic and most of the rest are made in China. Provari has a year warrenty, and you can purchase an extended warrenty for another year. Even after that is up, you can get repairs done for set prices. Love my Provari, and never had an evic. However, from what I know about them, the variable voltage is the same, but Provari is more durable and better made.

I really don't need the higher voltages and it's quite large although could use the Mini. I loan it to friends who are thinking of Variable voltage to see if they want/ need VV. A Mini Vivi Nova on a 1300 mah Spinner @ 4- 4.5 Volts satisfies me. Be forewarned though and all IMHO with all the inexpensive VV PVs being released I wouldn't be surprised to see an upgraded Provari out shortly.

Thanks. Vapoor eyes why dont you use yours?

Thanks. Where to buy Provari in Canada?

I bought my first one at Vapour Solutions in Victoria because it was the only ProVari retailer I could find in Canada. I noticed yesterday that they are very low in stock for the units themselves and practically no accessories. I'm going to order my new one this week directly from ProVape.

Things to note - The ProVari is designed to use a pretty specific 18490 or 18500 1100mAh battery. if you want to use a larger battery 18650 2000mAh you need the extension end cap. If you want to use a 18650 2200mAh or a 18650 3400mAh you need the extension end cap and a clear silicone o ring as those big guys are just a titch longer. A good quality charger is important too.

Also be forewarned..."most" vapers enjoy building an arsenal of PVs and assorted gadgets if you really think this may be your one and only PV purchase. It's also very important to have a backup PV in case the Provari has issues and must be sent back for repairs.

If I could have a do-over. I would get the twist combo from mvs. The 650 battery stainless and EVOD bcc. It's $70. Two batteries, charger, two kanger EVOD bcc. Also I would order additional heads. Only $1.50 a piece. Easy to rebuild them yourself and a good start in diy. Found with thinner liquids additional 2 pieces of 1 mm wick are needed. The set up is small enough thatyou won't feel like an a$# in public with this giant battery. You can purchase additional larger batteries down the road. Then mods,dids....it never ends...but,that would be my starter kit...
