Help suggest the right device for me?

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I want to get into vaping, and the holidays are coming up I have no idea what to get.

I know that I don't really care for egos as they'll just die after a certain amount of charging cycles. I don't really care for anything that I can't pop a new battery in so that it can work like new again. I'd rather buy a million batteries than have to buy new devices.

I've been eye'n the Joyetech eVic for a while, it looks the most user friendly, but its a bit on the large side & pricey. I have terrible luck with electronics, I wouldn't want to spend all that money on a device and have it crap out on me, having to send it back, wait for a replacement -- such a hassle.

I've also been thinking about mechanical mods, since they seem to be just what i'm looking for although safety is a major issue for me, I'm scared to death of a battery potentially exploding and hurting me, causing fires etc...how safe are these mechs exactly?

I'm looking for something small, takes batteries, and will last me a lifetime. Is that even possible? Lol. I'm not going to be into any of that extreme vaping, cloud chasing stuff. Just all day normal vaping.

Can I get some suggestions? Also trustworthy sites to buy from? Thanks in advance

ego batteries's last 300-400 charges..about 1 year..I have some older..ego is the best way to begin, and is always reliable and very inexpensive...later U can pay more and try something else if U wish..many people use ego' forever and love them....and U must always have 2 of everything, batteries, chargers, tanks etc, in case 1 does fail...that's life in the Ecig world..

Yeah a friend recommended I get an ego and a pro tank. I just hate the thought of it dying after just one year. But it looks like the direction i'll be going.

Also, are usb passthroughs safe? I'm mostly stuck at home so something like this V looks very appealing to me

eGo batteries are more like 250 - 300 recharges and will be holding a charge for less time half way into that time frame.

You are not going to find a good featured "small" APV with replaceable batteries. If an 800 mAh battery will work for you (7 - 8 hours) and the APV has really good features (variable watt, battery check, ohm check, etc) and it is smaller than an eGo twist, I would look at the iTaste V3. If you want want replaceable batteries, then look at the Vamo or Zmax. Here is a very reputable supplier for the iTaste:

If you have not vaped I would suggest beginning at the beginning. Start small and work up you learn a lot along the way. Just make sure it's bigger than a cigalike .

Id get something simple to start with, you can get all freaky later with mods, batteries etc. You will need a battery, a tank and some juices for now.

If you learn about making your own coils - which do take some care cuz there is a learning curve - you will get very satisfying vapes compared to most stock coils.

I use Kanger mini protank II tanks, and I make my own coils/wicks. The draw is good, no gurgles unless I made the wick too thick (or too thin) and the vapor is pretty heavy.

I use a Kanger EVOD VV battery, so that I can adjust the voltage and get a hotter vape (or more flavor for some juices, or just burn it all to a crisp if im not careful, lol...typically I have them set at about 3.6v or a notch above that...)..

vape dojo has a basic starter kit for about 20 bucks. you should be hitting up local vape stores to see what juices they have too. I dont have any within 75 miles of me or more, so ECF and the fine folks here have lots of opinions about juices and Ive followed up on a few vendors - havent really had any crap ones yet.

I use: Alice in Vapeland, Nicoticket, and Ahlusion.us for juice.

Later Ill start doing my own juices..simple stuff like single fruit flavors w/ 12mg nic in a VG/PG base...lots to learn about that. but that can save money too, so I can sneak off and get a bottle from Nicoticket or Ahlusion.

Good point and id like to add to this: in the..oh 18 months? think so...of lurking here, Ive seen the tech change a LOT. A LOT A LOT.

So whats hot as hell now...might suck tomorrow. Just worry about vaping for 6 months, and then see where that gets you.

MVP and lots of other gear is on this page, it shows deals from all over. Im considering an MVP, since I have 2 of those Kanger EVODs I want something with longer battery life than just about 4-6 hours of vaping a day. The MVP does NOT have a swappable battery but folks on here (most of em anyway) rave about it.

There are other devices that are similar but do feature swappable batts, but guess what? That all costs more - device, charger, batts...and you still need tanks.

On my first kit I took a chance and spent my whole monthly cig budget -needless to say I got screwed over but I learned that it would work and I needed to get better info. ECF is where I found it. Take your time and unless you understand ohms/watts etc, start with a good spinner/twist variable watt battery and a protank or vivi nova from a good site. Cheaper is not better get good equipment.

oh yes, +1, +1 to that...get gear that you CAN count on.

I think Ive seen dozens of stories on here where folks get something and just HATE it and then have to start over. Use the forum! Folks collectively know a lot more than any individual (ok except Baditude, holy crap does he know vaping...ok him + lots of others ha ha).

Some veterans at this actually go BACK to using eGo batts, too...there is really no predicting what is *your* best vape experience until you really dive in and pick a piece of gear.

And simple + reliable doesnt have to be expensive.

Just bear in mind that coils get gunked up and suddenly your vapor is really nasty, so that will require some maintenance no matter what.

Welcome to ECF!! As you probably noticed you're not going to get "the" answer to your question. No one can tell you what will work for you unfortunately. They will give you some REALLY good advice though. Elfy always has good advice and I agree, whatever Baditude says is always good. You should probably get ready to spend a little more than you have stated though, it can be done on the cheap I'm sure, and some have probably done it. Not many I think though. Good luck and enjoy the vape, a little cash and a lot of patience and you will be a happy vaper!!

and if you are not going to go with the ego twist vv style get the 1.8 ohm replacement heads and save the 2.5 ohm that comes with the protank for emergency back up (a light vape is better than no vape and no vape is still better than an analog)

It depends on which ego's you get. some are better than others. Make sure you check for suggetions before you buy.
