I would consider maybe bringing that up to your doctor, actually. There are some really good treatments for sinus maladies, my favorite being Flonase. It's OTC, it DOES work better for seasonal or environmental allergies, and it won't make you sleepy. I recently had to resume using it, as every time I move I seem do okay for a while, then develop an allergy to something IN my new environment.

With that said, it could be something else entirely, hence the doctor's visit, but it's good to consider all possibilities. I think it's equally possible you are sensitive to something in your new juice though, and if the doc clears you, you'd be better off figuring what it is (VG too high, flavors, etc.) than trying to treat it, honestly.

Good luck with the doc, gotta make my yearly physical appointment today... :)

As advised( and as you are going to do ) Dr. first to rule out illness.
Cold, sinus, reflux...

Then, since you DIY, play with your ratios...
I can't use over 25% VG or I turn into a coughing fool.
I also can't use heavily flavored or I cough. I keep my DIY at around 5% flavoring.

You can also try not using so much wattage/low resistance.

Obviously it could be many things, but imo, DL inhaling at high power and low ohms while vaping hi vg and alot of juice just isn't normal...I see these cloud people (not saying you fall into this category ) chain vaping and bringing so much vapor into their lungs and thinking why? When I smoked I didn't blow any clouds, why would I do that when vaping. Hopefully you get this sorted and maybe it's not from vaping at all, but if it is, maybe it's simply to much vapor your inhaling. If you have to give up vaping due to this, try a different vaping style, where you just vape like when you smoked, mtl.....

Back in the dark ages of vaping (2011) a 2 Ω coil was considered low .....today there are those that think .2 Ω is the way to go. As the ohms went down and the watts went up we started seeing more threads like this. I wonder if there is a correlation between then and now. Just thinking out loud here :)

I am glad you are going to get this checked out. If something medical is ruled out you can then concentrate on making changes to see if the problem can be identified.

Thanks for the chat, folks! I couldn't get in to see my GP, but I got in at another clinic. Doc listened to my lungs, asked if I smoked - I said no, not for years, but I vape. She didn't say anything about that, but wrote me scripts for Azithromycin and Prednisone. Pills down the hatch!

Aside from the doctor's visit, I would check the high vg content of your juice. Did you use all vg in your previous vaping? It was a few years ago, and lately tends have been moving to high vg, big cloud mixes.
Yeah, I've always been a high-VG guy. Never really liked using RTAs because I've never been able to get heavy VG juices to wick well. Personal thing I guess. I know others have success, I just haven't.

Well, lighting things on fire and inhaling them isn't exactly normal either. ;) It's just all about harm reduction - and hey, if I can have fun while I'm at it, then great!

Hopefully the pills with kick the pneumonia like symptoms and I can continue contributing to the ongoing humidity problem in Arizona. :D lol

Well, I'm glad you are getting it treated, glad you went, as it doesn't sound vape related.

I DREAD valley fever. For a while we thought my kiddo had it, but he didn't. He was just allergic to 19 things. 19 THINGS! We did allergy shots for 5 years (never missed a shot, despite travel and etc., it was a total PITA) but so worth it, he has NO asthma, migraine, or allergy sx anymore. He responded really well to treatment, thankfully. Valley Fever sounds ghastly....

I hope you feel better soon and can return to Vaping Happy. :)

Wow, glad your son is doing better! So glad that worked out for him! I used to have very frequent and brutal migraines as a kid too so I very much know what he (and you!) had to deal with. So nice to hear a success story! I still get migraines occasionally, but anymore only about one every couple months. Bummer is that I am legitimately allergic to NSAIDs... so I have no realistic pain relief options besides downing a bunch of caffeine, laying on an ice pack, and hoping I can fall asleep in order to wait it out.

I do take Zyrtec and I do use Flonase and that keeps my allergies under control for the MOST part... except for spring when there's so much ragweed that I'm miserable no matter what I take. I only moved to the Phoenix area 7 years ago, but my wife and I plan on staying here permanently, so I'm thinking of looking into allergy shots myself. I've heard they work wonders for some people, so I'm willing to take a shot (bad pun... sorry... I'm not that sharp... oops I did it again... anyway, back to the point...)

Ok I'll just stop now. :D lol

PS. Oh, one of my best friend's dogs almost died from valley fever. Poor thing! He is better now thank goodness!

Anna, if you have been here for any length of time you probably already had Valley Fever and would test positive for the antibodies. Some never get symptoms and most that do think they've had a cold. However, there are a few that it hits really hard.

I just started mixing my own juices. My lungs were feeling heavy lately so used distilled water in my juice. Can already fell the heaviness easing up. That's from only 2 days of vaping the new juices. Best of luck resolving your problems.

I thought about using distilled water, but it adds a decent chunk of cost considering the price of bottled distilled water these days and sometimes I question if it really is distilled or not. It still tastes like it has minerals in it that it shouldn't if distilled. I have been considering getting/building a water distiller for my house anyway. When/if I do I will try adding some to my juice.

I would not hesitate to get allergy shots, and I will tell you what our allergist said-- the people who succeed with them don't miss a shot. So, ,we made sure not to miss one even if we were taking the vials on a vacation camping through three states, and I was finding allergists all over the place(fortunately, many of them offer "courtesy dosing") so we just used a thermos meant for insulin, and kept the mix cold.

My poor kiddo had a needle aversion, but not by the end of it, for sure . But, I think he was very grateful in the end, I know I was so glad to see his symptoms easing up. He is on 0 meds and 0 inhalers, and hasn't had a migraine since age 15.

I feel for you with no NSAIDs. I really believe in allergy shots if it's affordable, it's just so much better than taking the kind of meds he had to take-- they were HORRIBLE.

So if you can, do it, but make it so that you never miss a shot. Thank God we have great insurance.... But, the difference was night and day. You have to "ramp up" to the right dose, so unless parents are really consistent, it may not work as well....

I will say, our PCP's office was next door and they HAD a crash cart, (you need one, just in case the allergy mix triggers a reaction which is rare) and we got to know ALL the staff really well.

Good luck! I haven't had valley fever yet that I know of, I tested negative early this year (I was getting tested for everything thanks to my 18 mo of pneumonia and incipient COPD).

Distilled H20 is that expensive? My husband has like 9 industrial strength different filters under our house, because he's an engineer and he can do stuff like that. We have some of the cleanest water in our neighborhood I think. But, you must be mixing massive quantities to find 10% distilled H20 expensive....

I bought a very solid water distiller several years ago for around $80. It has worked reliably. I use a lot of distilled water for my lizards ponds - they're large ponds filtered through canister filters, so the high mineral content in our water is damaging to the pumps and wastes space in the biofilter/activated carbon.

Also I despise the taste of the water here. I literally can not drink even filtered water. So it's La Croix or distilled water for me all the way.

No doubt how ever you vape, is much much better then smoking and however you need to vape to stay off cigs is what you should do...I'm just saying if these symptoms reoccur, it may be worth a try lowering the amount of vapor...good luck and hope you feel better
