Help troubleshooting 510LR issues

I have been using an Ego with standard 510 atomizers for a little over a year now. Everything was great, but I decided that I wanted to step it up a bit in terms of battery life and convenience and went out and got a Silver Bullet with 510LR atomizers. Awesome! The only problem is that the attys die in a couple of days (I have gone through 7 now...).

When I was on the Ego I never really had any difficulty with atomizers at all (I usually got at least a couple of months out of them if not more).

I feel like something is going wrong here... Biggest problem is, now that I have used the 510LRs on the Silver Bullet I can't go back to the standard 510s (perhaps "can't" is a strong word, but I really don't want to go back as I REALLY like the 510LRs).

So I have been trying to troubleshoot what the issue might be and have run out of ideas... I would like to get some input from the community.

First the setup and symptoms and what I have tried so far...

I have a Silver Bullet with Ultrafire 18650 batteries (not trying to put two smaller batteries in some such) with a Trustfire Multifunction Charger and 510LR Atomizers that I got from Altsmoke. I also have a 510 to 510 adapter and a Drip Shield that I got from Empire Mods along with a drip tip.

Atty death symptoms... I will be happily vaping away, start to get dry, add a coupe of drops (I drip), put the drip tip back on, try to take a hit and everything is cold. Feels like that battery is dead. Change the battery still cold. Nothing happens from the Atty anymore. Put is on an Ego battery just to be sure, still dead. There was no pop or anything like that, it just goes cold. I am fairly certain that this has almost always occurred after adding a couple of drops of juice. Does not seem to an issue with an overcharged battery as it has, mostly, happened with a battery that I have already been on for a while. The Atty does not "fade out" it just goes from great to dead.

Things I have tried... I was concerned that maybe it was related to the Drip Shield causing it to overheat or flood so I removed that, problem persisted. Then I removed the adapter on the off chance that it might be causing an issue, no joy there either.

Other things of interest... I am a fairly long/big hitter (If you have ever watched any of the Mainely Vapor videos you will have a pretty good idea of how I hit). Though I don't feel like I am excessive (For instance, my hitting style was perfectly compatible with the Ego batteries that had the auto cutoff).

I am at a loss at this point. I would really like to keep using the 510LRs but I can not afford to go through 7-10 of them a month.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
-jason

What is the PG/VG ratio of the juice and where's the juice from? If its a thick VG juice, that could be part of the reason the coil won't heat up. I normally use carto tanks, but do drip occasionally. One of my tanks is always filled with Bobas Bounty which is 100%VG and thick, and I do drip with Bobas sometimes too, and I find if I flood the atty dripping or flood the carto bc I accidentally punched the holes in the carto to big, the coil has trouble heating up. If its only slightly flooded it will heat up, but takes a second or two for it to heat up and start to crackle. When I first starting using a tank and Bobas in it I made the holes way too big and flooded the carto really bad. With it flooded really bad the coil wouldn't even heat up at all bc the coil was just so flooded with the thick juice, and I bought the carto was dead. That sounds kind of similar to what your atty is doing. It doesn't only happen with thick VG juices, it's just more likely with them.
So maybe your atty is just flooded bad enough that the coil can't even heat up bc it's covered in so much juice. Try blowing it out really well and then put it back on the battery and hold the button for a few seconds and listen to see if it crackles.

Do you have a multimeter? If so, use it to check the resistance of the atty. that will allow you to see if it's totally dead or not.

yes, try blowing the atty out in case it is flooded. the other thing that comes to mind is the post on the atty. the "post" is the part that surrounds the hole in the end that screws in. take a pin and gently try lifting that up. screwing the atty in too tight can cause it to sink in and not connect. (or something like that, I am the least technical person on the forum probably :))

Thanks for the replys.

@Dandafixr I could not definitively say that is not happening, though I can say that that has never happened to me before after a year of dripping, perhaps I need to change up my standard methodology to compensate for being on the LR attys?

@mynameisrob I did forget to mention that I was using a 50/50 juice (been using the same juice for the last year now). I also neglected to mention that blowing the atty out, and/or cleaning it failed to allow it to fire.

I need to just break down and get another multimeter as I can not find mind in the horders like shape my garage is currently in. I will check their resistance (any chance there is a guide somewhere that can be linked to for doing this?)

@cags Not sure I understand exactly what you are indicating. Is their a guild somewhere that can be linked to that shows this process?

Thanks again for all of the replys, much appreciated!

Look at the bottom of the atty (battery side). You'll see the little post in the middle with a hole in it. If you put your finger on it you can feel it wobble around a bit. That's the part that sometimes get pushed up and it won't make a connection. You need to get something small (bent paper clip works) and gently pry it out a little bit. It doesn't take much and you probably won't even notice that it really moved.
