Help with first tank

So I got some boge cartos last week and loved them. Go into the shop tonight and say I want a tank. Got a really cheap tank (guessing the dct) that doesn't fit with the boge. So I buy a smoke tech dual coil 2ohm cart with pre punched holes.

Here's the problem:
100% VG
Evic at 4.5v
Draws are about 7 secs

Cannot get FTV. It's all so so. Are the pre punched holes to small? First vape is decent but gets worse if I try a few consecutive draws.

If I should make the holes a little bigger what could I use just around the house? Micro screwdriver, nail,????

I am far from an expert.. in fact I'm waiting for my first "real" tank in the mail. I bought a pyrex glass tank from ibtanked.com (great reviews on here). Also, if you plan to purchase one, you'll need to buy the caps as well.

In terms of hole punching, there are tools on the market that can do this. Search for carto punch or something of that sort. I just bought the cheapo one from litecigusa.net to try with the cartos I'm planning to use with my tank. I can't speak to that either because it's in the mail as well. With a puncher, you can punch as many holes as you want... and people generally recommend 2-3 for 100%VG.

100% vg is the issue. I always have to make the holes bigger when I vape boba's bounty. But I use a carto punch

You can take a dremil and slot more holes or you can get a screw or nail and a hammer and make it bigger. I would recommend slotting it with 2 slots for high VG liquids. I use 50/50 and I do 2 slots. Also this tank is cheap and fits boges. I plan on buying some of them soon. Also I have tanks my husband has cut down to fit boges. I used to use triple prepunched cartos but even 50/50 doesn't wick so well with 3 small holes.

If you're careful and don't hit it too deep you could use a little finishing nail.

Did you fill the carto completely before putting it in the tank?

Yeah I'd say your holes are too small. I'm familiar with those cartos and 2 of their tiny holes definitely won't cut it for 100% VG.

Thanks for posting OP, was getting that same tank in a few days. I will now be prepared to get the hole bigger. Have you had any other issues with it? I here they slide off pretty easy? Was thinking of picking up a extra O ring (smaller) to place at top of tank, where carto comes out at.

I beg to differ that the laser-drilled holes are not adequate to feed the carto. I use 100% vg juice too and I have had issues only with Boba's Bounty wicking. The rest of my vg juices wick fine.

Cwinnes, try adding a few ml of water to your tank to dilute the juice.

Not saying that you didn't do everything correctly, study the following video on prepping the carto, assembling the carto into the tank, and filling the tank:



A little trick that I came up with to assist filling the carto is to plug the air hole with a wooden tooth pick. This will keep juice out. I also recommend getting a tank filling tool such as the Slap-Yo-Momma tank tool from Big Daddy Vapor.com.

Thanks for all the replies. I've seen those vids and definitely plan on getting a tool if I'm going to be punching my own. Was just curious as to a possible fix tonight. The guys in the shop filled it so I assume (we all know what that means) it was done correctly.

I will try a little water to thin first. If that doesn't work I'm going to slide it up and use a nail for tonight.

Also the cart is not crackling like it does with a boge. Maybe it shouldn't since it has all the juice in the tank? It will make a couple small pops but not like bacon sizzling on the stove

Sometimes the carto's crackle in my tanks, and sometimes not. Whether it makes noise or not doesn't have any relation to how it vapes.

I have heard vodak can dilute it and give a bit more of a throat hit.
