hi all used e cigs to get off smoking real cigarettes analogues.

First week 0 cigarettes and used a basic e cig. Having to inhale/drag really hard for barely any vapour/smoke bothered me so went up to a 10 watt joy tech.
After another 2 weeks again same issue.
So went 30 watt istick with eleaf melo tank

Getting in fine for last 9 days with it

Yesterday om the occassions puff of it I got a burn taste. But then it goes. My partner experiences no burn taste.

Question
Does the speed or strength at which I inhale affect if enough or to little oil gets through to cotton?
Or does coil/atomizer need replacing
Can I only use melo .5 atomizer head and we're a cheap place to buy?

That feels like I've written a life story sorry

Do you use the istick at the 30w max ? If you have been for 9 days straight depending on your vaping style / amounts you probably have gunked the coil up. Take it out and look at it, if you see black gunk between the coil / cotton is scorched, time to put in a new one.

You can find the melo 0.5ohm coils in a 5-pack for under 15 USD from many online vendors, check the supplier links at the top of the forum here.

And yes, the longer you draw on your vape (depending on wattage) you may be vaporizing juice faster then the melo coils inlets can absorb it. If its a recurring problem, try a thinner juice with more PG. Try 50/50 blends and move up the VG ratio until you find the sweet spot for that tank.

good luck friend.

It may be time for a new coil; that's usually what a burnt taste means. They're available online. I suggest you check the registered forum suppliers for pricing. And it could also be you are exceeding your wick's capacity to bring juice to the coil. That probably depends on how thick your juice is.

I have the Melo tank and have been having great luck with it.

try using 50/50 like the above posts say and try turning down the power a little.

I thought I had to have 30 watts to get my enjoyment but tried starting at 20 watts and moving up a little at

a time and was surprised at how I could get a good experience at 22 watts or there abouts.

if you use too much power it will cook the eliquid out of your wick too fast and the wicking/capillary action

cannot keep up with your puffing rate...just a general observation...

Took the atomizer head out and removed the gauze from the top of it. Upon inspection the inner half of cotton had turned black. On comparison my spare head has all white cotton.
Is the head good until all cotton turns black or is 50% the limit?

I tend to only ever use it at 20watts occasionally 25-30 maybe twice a day

What's the actual name for the part I keep mentioning so I know what to search amd buy pls

That is called the atomizer head/replacement coil------I would not worry about the burnt spots---they are caused by the

wick getting dry and the cotton burning a little.

Wet your coil head good with your bottle and put it back in and wait a couple of minutes for the juice to soak

in and then try it again.

If you notice a big difference in juice not tasting right then try replacing the coil.

The melo tank takes the Atlantis coils as well as the melo coils they told me. A local vpe shop should be able to get you set up

with a new coil for your melo.

If your puffing rate exceeds your wicking rate and your cotton get dry you will turn your new coil/cotton

black also-------just need to find a good wattage/voltage setting to keep up with the rate you are puffing at.

we all have to keep experimenting with the settings to see what works best.

If you try and get a juice that is close to 50/50 then it should wick good.

too thick a juice like 80 vg---20 pg------wicks slowly and there is a chance if you puff too fast you will

run the wick dry. Sometimes the thicker the juice the slower your puffing rate has to be to allow for

slower wicking of the said thicker juice.
Just my observation.......

I know if my coil/cotton is getting dry in my tank because it will continue to sizzle for a second after I

take my finger off the firing button.....

If your cotton is wet and doing a good job the sizzleing should stop almost immediately after

taking your finger off the firing button.

Glad to hear your back on track-----with time you may possibly run the wick dry again as it happens to us all

----all the time-----just puff a few draws with out firing the button and this will draw some more juice into

the cotton and when the cotton gets saturated enough the black spots should not affect the taste too much.

Kept the old head just in case I'm ever in tight spot and forget to order/buy new one since you said it should be ok.

Now to get some new oils.
It's cheaper than smoking but but it does still cost.

You can try soaking in hot water or vodka to clean the old head.

It's good to hear the words
"It's cheaper than smoking" !!!!!!

Back when I started 2 years ago, basically it took about a year to break even (at least for me) before I could see myself saving or at least staying even.

Anyways those coil heads do eventually need to be replaced, and that is why a lot of people eventually move on to rebuildables where you buy your own roll of wire and wrap your own coil.

Firsy 2 e cigs I borrowed from friends/family.
So when I bought my own for total of 70 that was just over a weeks cigarette money.

Then oils is 15 to 20 a week. However looking online I cam get much better value. I pay around £5 for 10 ml which lasts day amd a half maybe 2. Zues juice. Only brand in my shop I get any good taste from although it's all mostly aniseed base

I'll have to look into rebuildable. I take it this will require new tank? Or can I get a head that will fit my tank?
