help with wiring - am i over looking?

was going to make a few "mods" for some friends. and i saw these boards witch allow for micro usb charging.
ive ben trying to get an answer from the forums on the site that sells it, but it seems no one mods anything.


i need help figuring where i am soldering all the connections to.

guesing the 510 is soldered to the "pins" on the top, but where does the battery get connected?

I assume the problem is (similar to your thread on FT...lol) that no-one knows what the heck these things are.

Looking at the markings on the board, it appears the charger is soldered to the battery pads? So do you somehow splice the battery into the charger wiring/circuit?

No idea on the outputs, it honestly looks like there may be another part missing or it uses some type of weird 510 with a proprietary pin style connector, i definitely wouldn't bet on those pins being just a simple +/- for the 510. Granted i'm far from an electronics genius, so someone else may know exactly have to use this.

The whole thing is weird/looks incredibly cheaply made, only thing it has going for it is the micro usb charging, if its even usable.

B+ and B- stands for Battery Positive and Battery Negative.

Now... without being able to meter one of these or really examine it... let's examine the pictures and apply a little common sense...

The only wires coming off the charge circuit or going to B+ and B-... so the output of the charge circuit winds up at B+ and B-

Other than the pins at the top, which are connected after the transistor... the only other place that makes sense (to me) to connect the battery is in the battery terminals (B+ and B-), which is before the little uController.

My concern is with having faith that the charger circuit is any good... input being 5V@200mA... that's pretty low and would be something around 4 hours for a tiny 650mAh poly.

Personally... I would feel much better if I knew exactly what Li+ charger IC that was and how I could change the settings... which is probably just through slight changes on that one resistor not used for the LED.

This looks like a fairly standard design... like the one used within the little ego batteries.

if these are for a certain product(i cant remember the name), then the pins would make sence. as the product i remember was not ego/510 threaded. but it was a small battery - almost like a cig-alike and the tank was a proprietary push fit.


so im still left guessing. where is the battery suppost to be soldered?

The only thing i can assume is, judging by the positioning of the breaks in the insulation on the charger wiring, that the batteries contacts are hard soldered onto those points in the wire, can't see how else they'd do it.

Oh yeah... you will notice the wires going between the two boards are cut at uneven lengths... this may be related to how the initial battery was connected (if these two parts even belong together), but that is a common method many manufacturers reduce the chance of un-insulated connections from shorting together. That is probably where they were feeding the battery connection into the circuit.

Technically, yes... depends on the state of the battery being charged and where you are in the charge cycle... the uController determines if you can vape based on the available voltage at B+ and B-


EDIT: B+ and B- are not connected directly to the USB Micro... they are connected to the output of the Li+ charge circuit... from what I can see.... and that's definitely the way you would want it... please don't try to feed your 4.2V Li+ on 5V

now heres another question. if i use a standard micro usb phone charger(1 amp), is it the circuitry on the board that downsteps it to 200mah? or do i need to find a specific micro usb charger with 4.2v 200mah?
