Hemp wick?

Okay so I have a question. Does hemp wick really well? Do I need a special kind of hemp? I read and see people using hemp as a wicking tool, but I cannot find if it is a specialty type or if it is simply just the stuff you find rolled up at a craft store. Thank you!
