When I first got mine I set it up with dual coils and it worked a treat , fantastic vape . No leaks no gurgling . A few days later I took it apart to clean it out for a different juice and recoiled it and cut the silica a bit shorter ( my original ones were about 8mm longer than in the videos ) started gurgling a lot ,not much taste and leaks . If I give it a good hard draw the tank empties itself .
Just rebuilt it again with longer silica and its all good again ,not sure why that makes a difference. The gurgling has gone completely and hasn't leaked at all and the taste is fantastic again

Yeah, as far as I can tell: these designs are NOT "MrKrinkle" friendly - you run the wick over and down, just short of the rubber-bumper.

Why not? My Herc doesn't give me a bit of trouble set up this way.. ;) Perhaps it's the XC-116 ceramic wick I use. BTW: I'm losing track, but I think this is starting the 6th week of use with no rebuilding. Just as long as I dry-burn every 3rd tank, the flavor and vapor production is still very good. :)

EDIT: Also, the 2 2.0 ohm ready-wires I used for the 1.0 ohm dual-coil is still reading exactly 1.0 ohm on my ProVari after all of this time, and taking multiple dry-burns well. I'm going to keep er' going until either the flavor drops off, or I pop a wire. The XC-116 (properly heat-treated per 3M specs) is some amazing wicking material for certain. :)

Stormy announced she will be getting more extended-length ready-wires made with Kanthal R wire soon for those who do not like the current Nichrome.

techno: I'd need to see a pic of yer ithaka/MK build. I tried it for the first week, and had a LOT of issues.

Since accepting the long wicks running nearly to the o-ring, I've had no issues at all - except all that wick.

It's just 2 small pieces of XC-116 across....Nothing special really. I was in the middle of a dry-burn anyway, so here are a couple of pics. Take into consideration this build is going into 6 weeks, and still cranking-out vapor. Excuse the dusty stuff.. I'm not finished with clean-up yet. ;)

OK, well.. *sigh* Oddly enough, I had to delve into the Ithaka after I wrote the above: Dropped the whole shebang off the floor, and my CA'd clear tank dumped a whole load of juice all over me thereafter.

After disasm, dawn/cleaning, more CA and a quick exam.. Well, the X coils are blackened, but no where near 'gunked' - and still nice and juicey, so... I won't be changing this for awhile yet!

Vapes Great! Less Filling! ;-)

So everyone, what's your favorite setup for FLAVOR? I've built single and dual (X config) so far, it's still not clear which one is winning.

i started with a single coil, quad 2mm wick setup and the flavor and vapor is great! haven't seen a reason yet to try anything else... i will down the road though when i have more time, just because ;)

That's exactly what I'm running now, certainly easier to build than the dual setup. I had the dual in before, but the ohms came out at 1.1, preventing me from running it on the mod that I wanted to.

I ordered my fasttech clone on the 7th and it won't be "ready to ship" (what exactly does that mean?) until the 20th. I've watched all the reviews and builds I can find on YouTube (the ones in English anyways), and read through this whole thread. I only have experience in rebuilding clearos and my aga t2, vaping for just over a year. I think this build is actually gonna be easier than ss rba's. I guess ill just keep reading up on it, and I know I'm gonna giggle like a school girl when it arrives.

After trying dual coils in a couple of configurations and single coils, I've found that the best setup for me is running an "X" pattern wick setup, but only coiling the bottom wick.

I use a 1.8 Ω ready-wire on a 2mm Ekowool wick for the bottom and a 1mm hollow Ekowool wick crossing over the top. Both wicks run down to the bottom of the ceramic just short of the bottom O-ring. The top wick acts like a "flavor wick" on steroids & keeps the coils nice and wet without over-saturating them.
Blowing nice clouds & seems to smooth the vape out....I don't care for a lot of throat hit (I quit smoking over ten years ago), so I like this setup a lot.

Works for me.

Ooooh ... I like that! Definitely going to try that when it's time to rebuild. I kind of believe in the flavor wick concept. I rebuild my Protanks all the time with micro coils / cotton, and lately I'm getting the best flavor with cotton in the coil, with a THIN silica wick right over it. Something about the vapor being pulled through that wet wick soaked with juice ... does something.

Hi guys

I have ordered the fasttech ithaka clone, but i wonder if i can use a drip tip on that mouthpiece? if not, what are my options for getting to use a drip tip on it? Thanks for any help

Tried to find it for you but didn't have much luck... I went with this version which is a bit more, but has a nicer finish, and comes with both mouth pieces:

Ithaka Rebuildable Atomizer - Stainless Steel
