I'm an Old-Timer on this site, quit smoking 11 years ago with the help of Smokeless Image and my pretty Volts. Now I've been sneaking hits off friend's cigarettes and my daughter's juul.
I love the idea of the small, extra simple juul. Can anyone tell me about similar brands, pros and cons, prices?
Weird to be back here, can I blame it on Covid?!
Thanks.

I dont use these pod systems, but if you are looking for something like the Juul with replaceable cartridges, I've heard that the Vuse Alto is the best. If you would like a pod system with refillable juice, there are dozens of good ones on the market. Since there is a imminent (in fact, overdue) shipping ban with USPS, you might be better off visiting a local vape shop. That way you will be able to get replacement coils and juice, even after the ban hits.

Welcome back! Definitely blame it on Covid - extra stress doesn't exactly help.

I don't know much about pod mod models (pod mods being the wee Juul-like mods), but I expect you can find some good advice in the Pods subforum: Vape Pod Systems. It'll be new since your time.

I can offer a few points about pod mods in general:
    • Beware the Juul. It often comes with a super-high nicotine level (50 mg/ml, a.k.a. 5%, if I recall correctly), and several people have reported it playing a role in renewing their nicotine addiction. There are a lot of other pods with more moderate nicotine options that might be a better choice.
    • Since pod mods vapourize a much smaller amount of juice than other mods (of this era, at least), they do tend to use higher levels of nicotine (though not necessarily 50 mg/ml). 20 mg/ml (2%) - 30 mg/ml (3%) is common. Excessive throat hit from the high nicotine concentration led to the development of nicotine salts, commonly called salt nic, (Regular nicotine is referred to as freebase nic.) Concentration-wise, they're about the same, so 25 mg/ml is 25 mg/ml whether it's salt or freebase. The main difference is that the salt nic will have a much lower throat hit than a corresponding concentration of freebase nic. Many mods claim they're 'designed for' one or the other. This is bunk. You can use salts or freebase in any mod, just as you prefer.
    • Pod mods can come with prefilled cartridges, like the Juul, or with cartridges you fill yourself. Prefilled are more convenient while fillable are less expensive and offer unlimited flavour choices.
Best of luck in finding what you need to stay away from cigarettes!

As far as another small pod set-up (even smaller than a Juul)...IMO, the JustFog Minifit pod set-up is a really good one. Quite a few of my friends love them, too, as well as many ECF members. Most of us have bought a "stash" of the starter kits and packs of the replacement pods...because they're such a great pod system set-up. My friends and I all use our regular strength eliquid in them (3mg/mL - 15mg/mL), not the salt nic eliquids that are much higher mg/mL like in the Juul and many others that are pre-filled. Anyone can use whatever strength he/she wants to in them though.

They come in 2 versions now: The Original one - is only 70mm long x 21mm wide x 15mm thick, and has a 370mAh battery in it. The pods come in a 3-pack and can be found on sale sometimes for $5 or less per pack. The capacity of each pod is 1.5mL and they have a 1.6ohm coil in them. The pod is refillable, and it's easy to do that. There are You Tube videos that even show you how to rebuild the pod with a new coil and cotton, if you want to do that. I still have my first pod that came with the kit, in use, and it's been a long time. The Minifit isn't my main set-up, but I take a few hits off of it each day, and it's my "go-to" set-up for quick trips into town, etc. There are several members though, who have mentioned that either they, or their spouse, use a Minifit as a main set-up. They just have several in use at a time, usually with different eliquids in the pods.

The 2nd version of the JustFog Minifit is the Minifit Max. It has a 650mAh battery in it (so it lasts much longer than the original one, before needing to be charged), takes the same replacement pods as the original, and therefore has the same capacity and same 1.6ohm coil in it. The size is about 1 1/2" longer than the original, and it gives the same great vape, IMO.

nothing wrong with small devices, cig-a-likes, pods, egos, etc....if it works for you that's all that matters....
are you wanting just a disposable device/pod or a refillable pod

as territoo suggested, as a device alto is nice but you are limited to what flavors they carry (same goes for any disposable pods)

I rather liked the drag nano but it was more of an airy device not really a mtl (tighter draw)

would help to know a few things
    1) do you want only disposables or would you be interested in refillable devices
    2) are you only looking for a pod device, or would a small mod with a tank be acceptable?
    3) are you a mtl (mouth to lung) or dl (direct lung) vapor? do you like a tight draw like a cig or an airy draw or somewhere in between?
    4) I'm sure there's probably some other questions

My preference would be for a pod you can fill yourself, and that has a submitted PMTA on it, because stores will be able to carry/will carry replacement cartridges on those longer...

Your fond mention of Volts brought back memories.
I started with Smoketip and I remember loving my Bloogs :)
I'm at year three with Juul and god bless them.
I haven't touched a cigarette since moving to Juul.
More money than most vapes, but it worked for my 45+ year cigarette addiction.

Agree. They work great and are very reasonably priced. My only issue with minifit is they are so small I constantly lose them. But the pods last quite a while, and the charge does too.

I recently got a Vaporesso Luxe Q that is an outstanding pod. It’s a little more airy than the minifit, bigger, but holds more luquid and the battery lasts me most of a day.

I like the Luxe q too. Although it is a tiny bit more airy then the Caliburn G and Nfix. but I love the slim mouthpiece.
