More recently box mods are starting to get a lil more artsy.
I have only a few regulated mods and more mech mods than I'll ever be able to use. Like you, I love the look of a nicely made mech mod.
Do all the research before using.

Here are a couple of my beauties

Why is that?

Target on my single battery Mech's is 0.2 with SS Fused Claptons which I'm pulling around 19-20a, perfect Vape.

Now to the OP, to get into Mech's your really need to be experienced with building. For that is what it's about with Mech's, building for the Battery, Mech and device combination.

My advice, get established with building on RDA's and RTA's. Once you get experienced and know what you're doing then get an Unregulated device. Play with that a bit and then you'll be very well prepared to move up to Mech's.

I love Mech's, for me the pure simplicity of them along with the unmanipulated DC power provides for the smoothest Vape. But the thing is that you have to know what you are doing and how to build.
Ohms law... you cannot get 60 watts or better out of a single 18650 running a .3 Ohm build.

That said, don't build to achieve a certain wattage. Build to get to a comfortable level of heat and vapor. I find I'm happiest around a heat flux of .25 w/mm^2. To that end, I build a simple 6 or 7 wrap, KA1, 24 AWG, 3 mm set of contact coils that come in around .28. Starts around .25 w/mm^2 and when it starts to get cool, the batteries down to around 3.4 V...

To the OP, if any of that sounded like gibberish, you're needing a bit more study before setting up a mech.

With Mech's focus is on Ohms and Amps to provide the vape you want, really could care less about the Watt's ;)

Hi Ted
What I would suggest is to go for regulated mods for every day vaping, carry in your pocket, banging around, etc.
Then get yourself a nice collection of mech mods and use them carefully and appropriately, and at home where you aren't going to accidently do something like have them fire off in your pocket. I've got 3 mech mods, still in boxes & never used as yet, but maybe someday I'll get to playing with them.

And if you look for it someone had a post a couple of weeks ago showing pics of beautiful customized mods. Some of them I'd truly love to own just as conversation pieces.

Dear e-cigarette forum, hello!
I have been vaping for 7 months now, and it's the only thing that's ever worked for me to give up smoking.
I've tried a number of different devices, the most advanced so far being an Innokin Coolfire IV and a Smok Stick One Basic.
I am starting to research mechanical mods and am just starting to buy parts for my first. I thought I'd sign up here to research more.
I hope this forum can help. Feel free to give me any advice or point me to parts of this forum I may find useful.
Ted.
Welcome and glad you joined.
Might want to try the search function in upper right hand corner of this post. Could type in "mechanical mods pros and cons".

Hello once again!
Happy to be here.
