Hey ECF! The wifey and I decided to join the vaping community!

We're social smokers when we drink, and after a long fun weekend, we sometimes go through a few cigs or cigars.
Sometimes we do enough and we get a lil sick :S

My buddy has been vaping for a while now, and has spoken nothing but greatness, and has lent us a spare a few times when we party. SOLD!

He's gone through a few setups, and convinced me that the following was a good starter kit for the level of commitment/tinkering we want to do:

  • ego-T 1Ah (1000mAh) passthrough
  • Dual coil tank... Came with a 1.6ohm carto
  • Picked up a 1.25ohm replacement, which I just burned like an idiot. I'll get to that later
  • shorty cone to cover the battery threads
  • some Blueberry Bubblegum VG liquid from a local retailer

I've been scouring the forums, and there's tons of info (sometimes TOO much, and a lot of other stuff that's not pertinent!). Sooo.. I have a few questions!

Is there a good place to bulk buy replacement cartos? The place I'm ordering (not sure if it's "kosher" to say where out of respect of all the competitors) is $2.29 ea, luckily shipping is pretty cheap (flat rate). But figured it could get lower if I ordered more at a time.
My buddy told me to get the 1.25ohm carto... I suppose the lower the resistance, the better the vape? Would a higher resistance draw the battery more or something?

I couldn't find any good tutorials/videos about cleaning the tank cartomizers. I wouldn't suspect them to clean any different than a Boge carto really, but they are a different size I think cuz there's no protective body on the carto?
What's the best way? Followup question; why are people using ethanol for atomizers, but water for cartomizers? Does the polyfill deteriorate in alcohol or something?

I tried cleaning the original carto I started with cuz it was cloggy... but boiling didn't do anything... So I switched to my new one, and after filling the tank with juice, accidentally hit the button and burned the polyfill :S Ruined. BUMMER!

I got 5 more cartos delivered the other day, so I'm good... And they're 3-hole punched, which has made a huge difference in overall consistency in vape, and flavor.

Sorry to get gross, but I have to ask...
Phlegm... I looked it up, read a bunch of things... but, it seems I get a lil phlegmy after a day's use... sometimes it's like real phlegm, green or brown from being old.. I suspect that's from my former smoking... But other times it's clear, and thicker than usual. Is that the VG? Is this causing harm to my lungs in any way? I haven't felt bad like I do when I smoke ciggs, but... you wanna feel safe, y'know?

I had a lot more questions the first 3 times I wrote this, but for some reason my session on the server expires within 10 minutes and it loses all my text... I give up, but at least I'm saying "HI!"

Welcome to the forum.

VG does that to me too. Others as well. Makes my chest feel heavy and my nostrils greasy, along with the phlegm. Gross enough? Not sure if it is dangerous, but my body tells me to lay off it.

I like a 70PG/30VG blend--easy on the attys and no phlegm.

One more thing. Never seen 1.25 cartos or attys. That is close to the self destruct cutoff on an Ego battery. They go nuts if the resistance goes below 1. Not much room for error. Try 1.5s for tobaccos and 1.7s for easy burning sweet or fruity flavors.
