Hey,
I have been lurking these forums for quite some time, only now have been motivated to make a new thread.
So I am relatively new to the e-smoking world. I have only just started really looking at buying one, and recently bought a Super black kit (amongst other things) from Totally Wicked, and am impatiently waiting for its arrival into Australia. It has made it worse that it still hasn't been released from Customs, according to Australia Post.
If it does get through, I will be a happy camper. If it doesn't, then I might have to look at other ways of getting one. They seem like a great product, and I am even more excited about all the different flavours, mods, types of e-cigs, everything like that. It makes me sick the way the Australian Government has treated them, and it also makes me sick reading everything about the FDA and all their bull$#!t. I am hoping that IF the FDA approves them, that the Australian government will re-consider them, but I sadly doubt that they will. They are very stubborn when it comes to backing down policies, etc.

So anyway, thanks for reading, and I look forward to contributing to this site as much as I can.

I dont know australian laws and this is my uneducated guess.
But I would imagine its just the juice that would be illegal. Surely they havent banned batterys and I cant imagine any law in place to ban heating elements which is pretty much all the atomizer is. And if you get an empty cartridge its plastic and filling.
If you can go somewhere and buy a water .... or a glass pipe then I cant see how they could stop the ecig without any chemicals.

I hope you get your package soon. I'm not familiar with Austrailian law, but there is a subforum for Austrailian users here:

Australian E-Smokers - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

Not sure if your Customs works like ours (probably similar), but "in Customs" does not necessarily mean that it's been siezed or that your package will even be inspected. It usually just means that the delivery carrier has delivered it to customs to enter the country. Several others have gotten their orders through Customs without any problems, so you probably will, too.

As far as the FDA goes, they really can't "approve" electronic cigarettes, because no manufacturer has submitted an application for that. Most believe that the device doesn't fall under the FDA's jurisdiction. But a lot of members here are advising us to stock up on supplies just in case they do get banned.

Our U.S. history tells us a prohibition won't work -- it will just go underground. I think instead our government will find a way to tax them to death, just like cigarettes.

Glad to have you in the forum. :)

I knew about the forum, it's just that this is the only place where I can make my own thread at the moment.
The only thing I am worried about is I have already for warnings from Customs about importing something as small as a gun shaped lighter. They seized that and sent me a warning. Just stupid things like that.

Thanks for all the info, though! Here's hoping it does make it through. It'd be even better if it gets to me in the next few days.
