So the Ego W started out good, kinda had a plastic taste in the vapor but I figured that was because it was new out of the package. However after about 2 hours worth of use I started getting a horrible burning flavor from the clearomizer. It continued to get worse as I used it. So when I got home I switched to the other clearomizer, fresh filled, and immediately had the same problem. I tried priming it in intervals to not overheat the atomizer, that didn't help. I took apart the clearomizer, dumped the juice sadly, then rinsed it out clean and fresh and rinsed out the string or wick whichever its called. The clearomizer stopped smelling burned and smelled quite clean and fresh, I left it out to dry then put it all back together. Filled with juice again and immediately burned again.

From what I can conclude the burning is either 2 things. The rubber seal around the atomizer on the bottom of the cartridge, or the coil that wraps around the string at the top is burning/melting the material. I didn't see any physical sign of burning anywhere. I don't know how to fix this issue or if I'll have to buy new clearomizers. This is disappointing for somebody who wanted to give this a go and my first unit doesn't even work after spending 50 bucks. If I really have to buy new clearomizers I hope somebody could refer me to some working ones that will fit my device. I just spend yesterday with headaches and nausea thanks to this burning so I really need answers.

Well actually just after typing this I took the clearomizer apart again and found the coils did look dark, and sure enough upon slightly pulling the wick through the coil i found a burnt section inside, the coils are also dark like they've been cooked. I went and unraveled the part of the wick that melted out but then thanks to my stupid grip on it I broke it in half. So now I have a clearomizer with no wick and wasted money :(

Ok I get paid tomorrow so I'm thinking of ordering a cartomizer and scrapping clearomizers all together, but I want to utilize the batteries still. The battery I have is 1100 mAh but I couldn't find the voltage. I read that 3.7 volts is roughly what it is. The guy from vapor ally comments on his forum post that the 510 and 306 fit the battery however I don't know which kind to pick. I was looking at the 306 boge units and was unsure of either the 2.0 ohm or 2.8 ohm unit. Which one is the right ohms? Unless none of them are right. Point me in the right direction please!

Before you use a clearomizer, you need to pull up on the rubber stopper to give the wick some room for juice to flow in. Some people take the rubber stopper out and replace it with the rubber mouthpiece. There are videos on how to mod clearomizer to make them work better.

Sent from my easy chair using brain waves.

Do you mean the white stopper at the top where you can add the liquids using the needle? I tried dripping juice right on the wick where the coils wrap on it and still got a burned taste.

Jackel,
I empathize, dry hits are a PITA.

I think the wick is made up of ceramic fibers and atty coils don't get hot enough to melt glass. You could just be getting dry hits because of a dark juice (high amount of flavorants) has clogged the wick or coated the coil wires - a thorough cleaning followed by a dry burn will usually solve that problem. I hope you find something that works for you.

I have used Boge 2.0 cartos and gotten good performance from them using thick/dark juice. I prefer the ego clearomizer (stardust) with thinner, clear juices since they require less fiddling/topping off.

Happy vaping.

Ok I pulled up on the stopper and gave it plenty of room to wick, I even turned it upside down to let the juices flow directly on it. Still got a bad burning chemical tasting burn. I don't know if its a dry hit because of the chemical flavor... however the liquid is a lighter juice that is supposed to be ry4 that I got from freedomsmoke usa but it taste like nothing to me. I've been using the liquid fine in a cartomizer I refilled from a rechargeable unit I bought from the gas station. So I doubt its the liquid.

Here is some screenshots of the default ego clearomizer, I broke off the wick accidentally on the opened one.

I'm wondering if its the coil itself that is burning, like its made with cheap wire. It does look crispy dark. I mean its gotta be wicking fine because I can create large plumes of vapor, but it tastes just awful and gives you a headache like 5 min after inhaling. I'm at the point where I'm too afraid to inhale it im just testing it in my mouth now. Could this mean the batteries are too strong for the clearomizers that came with the unit? After all this I am seriously gonna say don't ever buy an ego w because so far its been crap.
