Very interesting.. there are also self-resetting fuses available too. With the find that boondoggle had with the ldo regulators running down to 3 volts, I need to see what they do if the source is lower than 3.0 volts, could be that they would be provide over-discharge protection as well as short circuit and overheating protection, all in one beast.. Only thing we'd have to worry about then is a unit sitting on with the atty heating up until the battery dies.... I have some unprotected 14500's, 18650's and cr2's.

I think I'll build a mod with a microswitch and ldo regulator, throw it in a box on an let it run and see if the reg stops working at 3.0 volts or it continues and blows up. Just need something that won't catch fire if it goes up in flames :)
