So... i need to get my first 5 post over with, and i though starting a introduction would be a great start!

Hello fellow vapers! I'm known as "Spork" through most online social media. I have a few hobbies, gaming, building computers, i'm a audiophile, and a cloud/flavor chaser (what has brought me to this forum). I love mechanical mods, and I know plenty about how to safely use batteries (to save those the trouble of making sure i'm educated in such.) example: i got a Sony VCT5 with a .3 ohm build, that means i'm sitting a safe 14 amps. and vapin on 58.8 watts with a fully charged battery. xD

anywho I started smoking in high school, for only a year. Then a friend introduced me into one of those small e-cig kits. where i jumped to buy one. i was impressed at how it gave wonderful and exotic flavors. while still having that bad-a** rebellious "yea, i'm smoking" twist to it. anyhow i haven't picked up a cigarette for about a couple years now. As I've been moving up in the e-cig world.

a small timeline: Halo G6 starter kit -> Halo Triton kit -> innokin vtr -> some cheap clones of mechanical mods which is where i'm at now.

So i LOVE mechanical mods, and I doubt that i'll get into regulated mods, they're not as fun or challenging. (too safe)

so i guess this starts my adventure into these forums. which seems like a great community. I can't wait to pick your brains on ideas!

(by the way, sorry if it's all over the place. i'm flipping my sleeping schedule, dealing with 20 hours without sleep. i don't run well without sleep. thought this would be a interesting way to pass by time.)

Well, welcome to the community, Spork!

It sounds like you've got a pretty good handle on things, so I'm not gonna try to call you out on what you know or don't know. I've been vaping for about 5 years now, and am still pretty much where you are. I love my mechs and RDAs... I may eventually pick up a high wattage regulated box, but I'm not jumpin' outta my skin to get one.

So, what's your favorite mod/atty at the moment? Whatcha got that .3 ohm build inside of? If you're chasin' flavors, what's your favorite?

Sounds like you'll be a lot of fun to have around the boards, man... hope to see ya around a bit!

Well. I have the small selection of 3 different attys and the Magma clone which i adore, great flavor. and it never leaks! the IGO-T (first RDA i've owned) and i'm not a fan of it. xD and a IGO-W6 which my roommate uses. i have some sorta telescoping mod, quite abit of voltage drop. and a AR clone. which i love. but is in horrible shape. i'm thinking about getting a copper version of the AR mod.

the coil i have in this right now is my own version of the fused clapton coil. i have A1 28g in parallel with 32g spun around the parallel, 3 wraps around what'd i think would be equal to a 1/8th bit? not to sure there. It's firin' like a fire cracker.

edit: forgot to add flavors. man i'm all over the place with flavors. trying to find that one that's truly amazing. i've been vapin' lately this interesting Apple Jaks flavor by cyber liquids. taste like apple jacks. I think it's 70 vg 30 pg. and 12mg nicotine. i also have enjoying steam co. the gentleman's reserve. apparently aged in a oak barrel. defiantly carries the taste. and has a smooth bourbon in-hail, with a soft buttery almond ex-hail. but i've noticed with their e-juice some of their juice has a blend of other of their other offered flavors in it. makes me wonder if they're re-using the same oak barrel multiple times, causing flavors to mix. reluctant to buy from them again due to this. got any e-liquid you'd recommend?

If you get a chance, give the Hobo a try... flavor is on par or better than the Magma, with vapor production that is almost as good as my modified "cloud-chaser" Tobh... it is a wonderful atty, and I absolutely recommend getting one!

I've got a copper/carbon fiber Knight mod (Tobeco clone) that I absolutely love... very low voltage drop and low maintenance for a copper mod... very little tarnish to the copper. I've got the Hobo with dual coils, straight 26g Nichrome 60, 1.6mm ID, 7/6 wrap... measures at 0.23 ohms. VTC4s are all I run in it.
Also run my Orchid V2 quite a bit... great little tank. More airy than a Kayfun, flavor is very close to an RDA. Also, I use rayon for all of my wicks, so I go quite a while without having to rebuild/rewick anything...

I've heard about the Hobo and i really want to give it a try. I've also got the brass monkee on my wish list. i've heard it has great flavor as the hobo. but i'm ditching the brass on that though. I might pop on a pyrex top since i've heard brass contains lead. doesn't sound fun to in-hail.

carbon fiber knight mod? oh wow. that looks rather slick. though i do love the look of tarnish. but with the carbon fiber, tarnish would look tacky.

what flavors are you vapin'?

I'm loving the Knight... super slick and works every time I hit the fire button... on top of that it has a recessed fire button with a lock ring, so you'd have to be really not paying any attention at all to get it to auto-fire on ya... great mod overall

I've never even looked at the brass monkee... I'll have to check that one out.

I've mostly been buying juice from Nola Vape... fairly cheap, and most of the flavors I've tried are good. And they do 100%vg, so that's awesome. I'm mostly into fruit flavors... just don't get their Satsuma... that stuff is awful!!
Another great juice line is Teleos' Cloud Science... Alpha is my absolute favorite!

I'm getting ready to place an order tonight from Wizard Labs... gonna get back into DIY, 'cause I vape too much and it's gotten expensive. I kill a 30ml bottle every two days... even at $15 a bottle, that adds up fast... I figure I can DIY for about $30 a month... maybe less...

I'd probably be in the same boat. lol! if i wasn't stuck with a single VTC5. or it's a VTC4. not sure. it's green with that squareish label. it's a VTC something. any who. i've ordered 4 HE2's. so that should fix the itching for nicotine as i wait my battery to charge.

also I've been thinking about DIY e-liquid. but i'm not sure how limited to flavors i am or where to get them. plus i'm kinda vapin' bottle to bottle. buying at last minutes notice. with a very small budget.

If you're needing new "VTC" batteries, check these out: Xtar 30A
Those are the new VTC4s (there are no replacements for 5s yet). Sony doesn't produce them anymore, so Xtar has started making them. Same exact battery as the VTC4s. RTD is a good place to get them, also. No fear of getting knock-offs there.

If you want to get into DIY, check out Wizard Labs. Also head over to the DIY section of this forum... TONS of info there!
The only thing with DIY is the start-up cost is probably gonna hit ya for $100-$200 to get everything you need to start... nic base, pg, vg, flavor concentrates, bottles, syringes, beakers for mixing (a friend suggested just using Mason jars!) I figure that once I get everything I need to start mixing, it'll probably average out to about $30 a month to vape... I think I can live with that :D

So how well would a pure 100% vg juice hold flavor? and what flavors would you recommend from wizardlabs? also know of any online calculators for nic and vg to pg ratios? also after making your own e-juice, how long do you typically do steeping?

100% VG juice holds flavor just fine. As for flavors from Wizard Labs... I dunno. Just placed my first order last night, but I've heard good things about "The Flavor Apprentice" and "Capella" concentrates. I ordered a bunch of the TFA flavors... I'll just have to wait and see how they turn out.

For a calculator check out eJuice Me Up: Online Calculator

As for steeping, it depends on the flavors and other ingredients. Fruit flavors tend to require less steeping. Custards on the other hand tend to require more... Some fruits are good almost immediately. Custards can take 2-3 weeks or more...
