Certain nasty preservatives (Nitrates) are broken down into nitrites by the body and those nitrites affect the cellular Mitochondria. In other words, those nitrites are carcinogens and cause cancer.... I highly doubt you would ever find a nitrate used in e juice but other preservatives are used.....
