Ok, so I picked up one of these just for juice tasting. After buying some cheaper 510 atomizers, and making a mess with them, I learned that I apparently needed a 510-510 adapter and a drip shield to use them. That stuff is on order.

For this HH357, I sent a note to their support asking if I needed those other parts, and the reply was no, I did not. So it arrived, I blew out the primer per their directions, screwed it onto my Sieglei 50w mod, dripped in some juice, again per the directions.

I got some vapor out of it, but I had to suck so hard my face was imploding. I've seen on review vids that quick, more aggressive hits are needed for these, but this is unusable. I don't see how this gets any airflow when the holes near the threads are covered when screwed into the mod?

Not a big deal, I'm puffing away happily on my nautilus Mini, just wondering if I'm missing something?

You took a step back in the world of e-cig innovation. The OG 510 atties all had the limitation of the airflow from the 510 connector through those tiny holes. It wasn't such an obstacle for us 3-4 years ago. We were relegated to only using mouth to lung puffs.

With the advent of wide-open airflow on so many tanks and RDAs, the majority of vapers have transitioned away from the limited airflow of the OG 510 atty.

Give up on getting airflow like your Nautilus mini. The 510 atty is not capable. You can try mouth to lung puffs with some sense of the flavor you're tweaking, and get some sense of the flavor. The airflow and cloud production is just not going to be there, though.

As has been said, these attys are set up for low power and little air flow to suit, unlike what a lot of us are used to today. You also need a 510 connector in the mod with air channels in it.

People still use them but they vape at power levels that suit the device, typically I believe below 10 watts. For that power level they are a very good vape if you like that type of atty.

Have you tried it on another mod to see if the airflow problem is with how it screws in or with the atty? It shouldn't be that tight. You can try taking a needle and poking around in the air holes to see if there's something blocking it. Regarding the 510 to 510 and drip shield, you don't have to use them; although, if airflow is being blocked by the connection on the mod, a 510 to 510 would help, as Ryedan said. I started direct dripping before drip shields were invented and have never used one. If a little juice gets on the sides, I just wipe it off. Direct dripping can bit a bit messy anyway, since most of the attys used aren't sealed at the bottom. It doesn't cause a problem with the battery, since it's sealed, but you need to periodically take the atty off the mod and wipe the connection.

You may already know everything in my blog, but if not, it might be helpful: Drip, drip, drip...

Worst case scenario: you can send it to me and I will dispose of it properly. One can never be too careful.
