Hi James, welcome to ECF :)

How did you come to vaping, and what are you using?

Hi David,

Thank you for asking :).

I began vaping around 3/4 years ago now, I had looked into it as a method of quitting smoking having already tried various other methods. To be honest I didn't want to quit but felt the need to because I had one very young daughter and a new born daughter and worried about having to change my clothes every time I went for a cigarette. I browsed the internet and found a cig-a-like type company and took the plunge. Whilst I enjoyed the item originally the cartridges made by the same company were very expensive and it was a difficult financial time with work and the 2 children. My interest waned. Then I saw a post about a Chinese seller on a football forum I use regularly and from the posters recommendation I ordered an Itazte mvp and 6 weeks later when it arrived I never looked back.

Honestly I didn't want to quite cigarettes, it was only by cramming myself so full of nicotine that I was not able to smoke that helped me to do so. This is obviously not a healthy way and would not recommend anyone else to do so. But it was very powerful that it could overcome my addiction to cigarettes but also my mind-set.

I gradually learned more about the sector and was absolutely amazed by the items available and never looked back.

Currently I am using a KBox with Arctic tank with Ry4 Liquid. Oh and I have a Diablo Mod sitting staring at me that tastes like hotspots.

I guess my one main annoyance is with being a fulltime vaper is that after the hundreds of liquids I have tasted, there are only 2 flavours that I can say I genuinely love and I have got no where near recreating them by my recipes.

Sorry for the essay, how about yourself?

Hey, don't apologize! I asked for it :)

So, an "old hand", just new to ECF :thumb:

I'm about 2 1/2 years into vaping - and was lucky to miss the cig-a-likes. Came in from RYO, which I'd been doing for years since WA's taxes on cigs are obscene... Had 2 B&Ms within a reasonable drive, went to one and got set up with a couple 650 eGos and CE5s. While I don't expect to ever go back to a fixed voltage battery, they (and the right nic level and flavors!) got me off cigs in a week. One of the lucky ones :) (The shop started me at 18, based on my smoking habit. Didn't work, I was a dual user that first week. Upped it to 24, and haven't looked back. Dropped back to 18 a few months in, and still there. No particular desire to go lower :) )

Pretty much all VV/VW tubes and boxes now, and rebuildables (Kayfuns, Subtanks and similar), although I do have a bunch of Spinner types and BC clearos for lighter weight times. Rebuild all those, too. Although I do have a few mechs stashed for any regulatory vapocalypse that may come at us...

Actually, nic - without the carcinogens of combusted tobacco - is relatively benign. And actually good for some conditions. Research is showing it has some benefits for things like cognitive disorder, colitis, and other things. Check CASAA's site for honest research results. And it's being shown to be about as "addictive" and harmful as coffee.

I missed out the tubes mostly unfortunately, are there any you can recommend?

Also I'm one of those that loves the idea's of rebuildables but doesn't love the patience and time needed to do them correctly. Although I have still put countless man hours into them.

While many of the regulated tubes are considered "old tech", if you're not a cloud chaser there are several that work well and reliably.

I have and SVD still going strong at 2 years, and the Sigelei S-ET is a good "copy" of that. (VapeNW has both at good prices.) Recently added and SVD2, which goes to higher power and lower Ω. The Tesla VV/VW, also "only" 15 watt max, with it's aluminum body and triangular shape, is actually one of my favorites - have 2 of those. And their newer Tesla VIII is nice as well, and higher powered. (Although I've not seen it at any US seller - Fastech...)

I don't find rebuilding to be really time intensive. Once you've built the coil you want, just snip out the fouled wick, dry burn, rewick and it's about like new. Depending on wire gauge, a coil can go many months before needing to be replaced. It's just the wick that needs that.
