Hi,
I'm completely new in this whole vaping thing. I started a week and a half ago, transitioning with apparently no problem from smoking cigarettes after 20 years...
So, I thought, this is great, let's give it a go... until I realised... I'm SOOOO ignorant! I know nothing!
I started with an ego-T with ec4s and, since I was finding its battery life so frustrating, I started researching. And researching. And researching. Until my head nearly blew up. Then I landed in a webshop where I just had to decide if I was a light or heavy smoker and I got some recommendations. I ordered the smallest device I could find among those recommendations, and now I'm about to panic; I'm not sure if I should sell the thing and go on with my short battery life ego-T, give the new one a go... OR WHAT.
I bought a istick40w with a mini nautilus aspire bvc 1.8 ohms. This was a kit.
I know what ohms are (or sort of, I know sub ohms make bigger clouds and it's something I really don't care about at this point), BUT, when I check the other specs of the mini nautilus, I read that it's to be used from 6 to 11 watts; then I read that it can be dangerous to use clearomizers that are not 'ready' to handle certain watts (and the istick is up to 40)...
-Is the mininautilus in the kit not really suitable for the istick?
-Can I use my old ec4s with this istick?
-do I have to change something in the mininautilus? that "bvc" thing? How often? Is using the mininautilus as expensive as it looks? (I've read about some people needing a change of whatever the component in the mininautilus every day...), cause the ec4s were expensive enough for me, at one per week.

Sorry for all these questions; I'll be doing some more research in the next days, now with the help of the forum (I just found it! :) ), but if anyone can point me in the right direction, I basically need to know if I start charging the istick or I shouldn't even bother to unpack it so it sells better...

Thank you!

Kaz.

The nautilus mini is going to work just fine with the mod you bought.
The mod your bought goes up to 40 watts but you can still use it at lower watts to suit better the nautilus mini.

Consider that the nautilus mini uses bvc coils in 2 different versions, the 1.6 and 1.8 ohm coils.
You don't have to change it everyday, but before using it, you have to prime it properly and avoid continous chain vaping (just let it rest a couple of seconds between a draw and the other).
If you smoke a lot, depending on the liquid you use, you should change the coils ( the "bvc thing") every week or two. Just when you feel that the flavour seems to be burnt.
I don't know where are u from, but you can order the coils (bvc things) from fasstech.com or many others websites around the world for a cheap price.
The nautilus mini utilize the same coils as his big brother, the nautilus.

No need to panic. You have picked a very good system kit. Just because the mod(istick 40) can do up to 40 watts doesn't mean you have to. And if you read on the coil(bcv) that the ohms recommended are at ?? doesn't mean you have to use it there. These are suggestions only......

The last poster is correct in his advice. When priming the coil for first time use, he means to drop a drop or three inside the coil (and I like to put a couple of drops in the side slits also). This helps the ejuice to get into the coil faster. Then fill the tank per the directions and allow to set for a few minutes. When starting a new coil put the watts at around 6 or so and take a small puff. Don't worry if nothing comes out. Just up the watts another few clicks and try again. This helps to prime the coil without burning it.

Once you start to get a good vape then stop upping the watts.

If the ejuice you use is clear then this coil can last for a few weeks. If you use a tobacco or dessert flavor(darker ejuices) then maybe a week to 2 weeks to a coil.

The directions to prime only refers to when you first use a new coil. After that when you refill your tank there is not need to go back through the procedure.

Tell us what type of ejuice you like.

Let us know how it goes.

The mini Nautilus is excellent on an iStick. It doesn't matter if it is 20w, 40w or 100w, you just can't turn up the power too high.
CE4 is an old-tech clearomizer and probably can't get up to 8w (although I don't remember exactly) whereas I routinely used mini Nautilus up to 15w.

Thank you, nebulaskin, that helped. :)
Isn't it a bit silly using a mod that reaches 40watts only up to 11 for the nautilus mini? Is it ok?
I live in Spain, but I bought everything from a French website.

Thank you, r77r7r!

So, the ce4s are useless with the istick, aren't they? The mod comes with a 501/eGo adapter that I'm still not sure what it is for.

I guess I'll unpack it then :w00t:

Not necessarily useless. The 510 part screws into the mod and the ce4's then screw on the other end.

Thank you, amazing! I was going to do some research on that priming thing. :D
I don't know what type I like yet, I've been using tobacco flavour ones, now testing some apple that came with the kit. I think I don't actually like any of them.
Mixing nicotine amounts, too, 12 is too much, 6 is about right, 8 seems to be better. I'm basically going crazy. I'm just starting. I even forget to vape at times, others I seem to vape like I'm smoking. It's all new and weird.

Glad it helped understanding..
Btw 40 watts isn't useless because maybe one day you're going to buy another tank, maybe a sub-ohm tank and you will require more watts.
For a 1.6ohm nautilus coil, you should stay between 10 and 14 for an optimal vaping experience (i own a normal nautilus and i vape it perfectly at that wattage).

It says 1.8 and between 6 and 11. What happens if I surpass that? Do I kill the coil/-?
Thank you :)

Yes, for the 1.8 you should stay on that range (or at least is suggested to stay there). The higher you go, the higher the risk to burn the coil.
With the 1.6 you can go a little bit higher.

I just tried the istick for the first time and it looks good! THANK YOU. :)
Plus, I had this new juice that I was finding too harsh on my throat (flavour wasn't too bad, but it felt like acidic or something) and I was liking it more whenever the eGo was running out of battery; I stuck the same clearomizer with the adapter and with a low wattage (3 to 4) it works great! (Is this correct?)

Harsh could be a result of the liquid, pg/vg ratio, nic mg/ml, nicotine quality & certain flavorings all can cause harsh on the throat.
Also the delivery device makes a difference ce4 types are not known for smooth flavorful vape.

There is no such thing as correct or optimal power to use. Start off at a low power setting work your way up taking a few vapes on each setting until you find what you like best, if you get a dry or harsh hit turn it down.
