Hi!
New here
Would love to get your ideas -

I love geek bar pro disposables. Just hate that they're disposable...
L.A. pros are also pretty good, but same issue.

I've been using the voopoo vinci (small one) with an assortment of different liquids, but I feel like nothing comes close to being as good as the geek bars. Geek bar have more sour, tangy flavors. Icy too. Haven't found that in the 15 or so different liquids I've tried (multiple brands).
Also the, throat feel, I guess? Everything feels either too harsh or too soft...

Any ideas?
Liquids?
Should I change devices?

Thanks!

Welcome

I am restarting, with all the new devices out there.

I am using refillable pods, and then find juice that I like. I don't know all the names, but there are some you tubers with great reviews. Smok (what I use), Uwell, others, can provide an open system vs the closed system you are using. These also offer the advantage of learning to make your own juice. I have ordered and purchased several 100ml bottles of various vapetasia liquids, but have also ordered nic, and will be learning to DIY my own liquids (and avoid all the problems with current vape mail).

In the long run, you will save more money with Open systems (you refill the liquid) vs closed systems (you vape and toss). So, while those closed systems get you off the cigs (I actually did 13 days cold turkey this time), as you mature, you switch to different methods that save money and enhance your pleasure.

One section is brands connect.

Another is reviews: E-Cigarette Reviews

E-liquid reviews: E-Liquid Reviews

The Forum suppliers section is another hit. Start some research on reddit e-cigarette as well.

Here is DIY info (and, I found a few you tube channels, though for exact mixing, you will want more in depth research, and stick with some tried and true recipes) : DIY E-Liquid

I don't know much about how the Vinci compares to other pods (the Pod forum @BrotherBob linked to should be able to offer you more help there) , but it sounds like your problem is more about your juice than your device.

The icy feel comes from menthol. Flavours that include menthol are often named 'Icy', 'Cool', 'Chilled' or something like that, so that's what you want to look for there.

Next, there's the tangy flavour. Tangy juices do exist, but finding them tends to be a matter good descriptions, which aren't all that common, and trial and error. As you've no doubt found, a Strawberry-Kiwi juice can be anything from a sickly sweet candy flavour to a fruity, tangy one. Reading reviews can sometimes help, but for the most part it comes down to trying 14 different brands' versions until you find what you're looking for.

The 'throat feel' you're talking about is, I think, what we usually call 'throat hit' or TH. It's the catch in your throat as you inhale nicotine. It's affected by a number of factors, but the main ones are the amount and type of nicotine in the juice. There are two types of nicotine - salt nic and freebase or regular nic. Salt nic is designed to have lower throat hit at a given strength so it can be used in higher strengths.

I see the Geek Bar Pro uses salt nic and comes in 2% / 20 mg/ml and 5% / 50 mg/ml versions. Which are you using, and how does the strength of your ejuice compare? You don't always want your ejuice to be the same strength in different devices because the devices themselves can be more or less powerful, but it would be helpful to know where you're starting from.

In any case, the rules for throat hit are:
  • If it's not strong enough, increase the amount of nicotine and/or switch from salt nic to freebase
  • If it's too strong or harsh, lower the nicotine level and/or switch from freebase to salt nic
Finally, welcome to ECF! I hope we'll be able to help sort things out for you. Good luck!
