Great review as usual Mate.
If I didn't already have a ScrewDriver I'd probably buy a Prodigy. I know I could easily sell the SD but there is one negative I have with the Prodigy as opposed to the Screwdriver. It's size. I carry the SD in my pocket when ever I go out anywhere and don't even notice it whereas the Prodigy looks so big I think it would be very uncomfortable to carry it around in my pocket. If the price was in the $60-$75 range I could justify getting one and just using it at home and using the SD out and about but I'd beat myself up every time I thought of having spent over $300 on two ecigs.
Cheers!

You may want to think about the Protege then... smaller which will fit in your pocket nicely and will be less than $100. :D

Why?
First the Protégé does not exist yet and second when it does it will run on 3.6v which is what my ScrewDriver runs on. So the way I see it is the Protégé will be a different version of a ScrewDriver. I never said I didn't like my ScrewDriver. I do like it, a lot.

What liquid do you use for your reviews?

hi mate,

as far as im aware that is the 1st e-cig hardware review i have done where ive not used the carts that come with the starter kit.

i think its always important to show viewers the vapour and discuss the throat hit using the standard carts included in the kit as that is what the viewer would get if they purchased one.

but as the prodigy does not come with carts i therefore had to use my own juice. the e-liquid i used in this video was 11mg Totally Wicked menthol.

cheers,

scott

Scott does kind of blow it off to the side , and not directly into the camera. It just looks like really dense vapor

yes mate, i always did feel that i didnt blow it directly at the camera.......but i must admit that i do try and aim the smoke rings at the lens! lol

i do tend to be able to get good vapour from most e-cigs (except the gamucci micro! lol) even compared to other people who are sat next to me and vaping my own e-cig.
i often get my wife to try out new flavours that ive got for review and it frustrates the hell out of me when she takes a drag but on the exhale has hardly any vapour........if any!
but im currently making a promo vaping vid for a las vegas convention which she is also in and i had to teach her how to vape (not much point her being in the vid if she cant produce good vapour!).............now she tokes like a pro and can get just as much vapour as me! (almost!)

cheers,

scott

Scott, you mentioned that the Prodigy is not for people that do not want to drip. I realize that the maker of Prodigy is also a dripper, but I just don't think that this is a drip-only device. I have been using the 510 version of Prodigy exclusively since I got it, vaping all the time, but have not dripped -- I only top-off the cartridge as needed. The 510 cartridge with the straw-modification that is described elsewhere on this board can hold lots of liquid, actually more liquid than you drip into 901 atty.

hi mate,

i must admit that i am getting a lot of people write to me to say that they use the Prodigy just fine with carts on their own!

but at the end of the day i can only review it based on my own personal experience of the product. when i 1st got it i was using just carts and within a few hours i had gone thru a couple of atomisers. i contacted the manufacturer and was told that the atomiser must be kept very moist at all times and that i should add 4 - 5 drops of juice on a regular basis. since doing that i stopped getting atomiser problems and its performance increaded greatly.

and i was actually using 510 carts in the vid.

cheers,

Scott, I understand. I used to have the worst luck with atomizers when I started vaping (pre-Prodigy) -- they would last me at first no more than 3 or 4 days, which later improved to two weeks after I learned the ins and outs.

When I got the 510 Prodigy I used atomizer that I thought was about to die since it was in use already for almost two weeks. I am still using that same atomizer with Prodigy -- it is now going on one month! I am shocked by this myself because I don't do any special cleaning, vape all the time, don't bother with giving it time to cool off, didn't wipe any battery connections.

The only difference I can notice is that I take many short 2-second draws instead of the long draws you take in your video. And I never drip. Could that make a difference?

Great review I'm on the fence about getting a prodigy. I keep hearing great things so holding back is getting harder and harder.

hi mate,

if you do decide to get one then id say go for the 801 type as i believe the atomisers are better suited than the 901 type.

cheers,

scott

Thanks for the review. I ordered one today after using my Pure Smoker Pass thru for a week now. All I can say is that after vaping all night at high voltage it is real hard to get a decent hit while at work. It is frustrating at best. I guess you could say I am spoiled now. lol... So after being on the fence and kinda waiting on the Protege to come out I watched this video today and said "What the ....?" So I ordered a Prodigy today! I don't think I would have been happy with the Protege anyway because it is a 3 volt device. Have you been using the Prodigy for your vaping pleasure or do you like something else for your everyday vape? I have just about every device made (801/901/510/401/KR808) so I guess you could say I tried all the rest and now I want the BEST... I can always sell off these other devices or something like that. There is a swap shop on the ECF right? lol....
I must tell you that every friend of mine I always tell them to watch your reviews to learn from you like I did.
Keep up the good work.. I and my friends appreciate it very much!
Keep on vapin

hi keith,

the prodigy really does deliver the goods in just about every aspect you could wish from an e-cig and im sure you will be very happy with it!
i use the prodigy, 510 and stick as my main vapes and switch between them depending on my mood lol, but i quite often like to use the DSE084 as well as its such a great little e-cig imo.

glad you like my vids mate and i really appreciate the kind words :)

have a great day,

cheers,

scott

I really like the M403. I think it is similar to the 084 isn't it? Just the other day I was taking a smoke (or vape) break at work and I caught myself trying to flick off the ash. lol.... That is the most realistic sized e-cig. I actually have the 401 batteries also but don't use them much. I do think it will remain a regular in the rotation also. I have been having good luck with the KR808 lately. The cartomizers last a long time and so do the batteries. When I am out I usually have my 510, KR, and M403 with me. Now it looks like I need a way to carry a Prodigy. Have you found a good way of toting it around? I was thinking about a Mag light flash light Belt holder. Know what I am talking about? Take the atty off and use that so the PD is not in my pocket.
Anyway, take it easy.

Haha! I get the same thing from my girl. Too funny. I try and teach her my method to vaping and she doesn't want any part of learning my methods! Ohwell
