Hi everyone,

Thought I'd introduce myself as a new vaper (one week today cigarette free!).

I initially bought an eleaf Istick Mini 10w and the very next day went back to upgrade to the eleaf Istick 20w as I quickly realised I needed a battery that lasted longer. My partner then decided to try the Mini and has so far done five days off the roll ups and only vaping (astonishing as he was the one who couldn't even sit through a film at the cinema without popping out for a smoke).

I have a Davide Clearomiser with a 3ml capacity and he has an Aspire Mini with a 1.5ml (I think) capacity. Funnily enough they both suit us as I was an evening chain smoker whereas he was a little but often smoker. We have been using Kik liquids as they are the cheapest locally and I have a couple of Vampire Vape bottles as they were on offer when I bought the Mini.

So far we are very happy with the results these kits are providing although I do have a million questions! Our main one is replacing the mouth piece on the Aspire Mini for my partner - he smoked roll ups as thin as tooth picks and doesn't really like the size of the mouth piece, he wants something really small but so far I've yet to locate anything.

I'll save my questions for other more appropriate parts of the forum.

I plan to expand our e cig collection, mainly to provide us with back up units should we run out of battery life etc. I really like the Eleaf Isticks but obviously have never tried other makes.

Anyway, I shall now enjoy exploring the forum for advice and tips!

Welcome - it sounds like you might get on better with a flat-style driptip, which you can get for around USD$0.50-1 or so (they do 10-packs for around USD$2-3):

Welcome @Lucylucy

As an ex-roll-up smoker, it didn't take me long to get used to the vaping mouthpieces (the 'drip tips') on the cig-a-likes and then the more effective types of e-cigs (eGos & Mods).

If you are still keen to find a slim drip tip in a few days, I can recommend the Whistle type

FastTech - Gadgets and Electronics

as well as those @Continuity has already spotted.

The Davide is an old model tank. It used the sort of replaceable atomizers which I do not recommend any more. The smallest Aspire tank that uses modern coils is the Aspire K1. If his is not a K1, I would recommend looking at Aspire tanks (like the K1 or Nautilus) that use BVC coils.

Just watch out if you start shopping, there's a lot of old tech kit on the market. Kik sell lots of old tech kit as it happens. When they started out, they had big plans to sell CLONE hardware to the UK people at prices higher than the real thing. I notice they are basically selling now in bargain shops and actually, that's all they deserve. The liquids are absolutely dreadful too, but for 99p it's hard to complain.

Vampire (I think) charge £4.00 for 10ml. I tried most of their range and thought some of them were quite good, but they do use colouring. Colourings, like flavours, were generally only tested for food consumption. I don't know what sort of certification Vampire have for the ingredients.

£4 every few days is not a lot for ex-smokers, but it is worth pointing out you can buy liquid for £1 from the wildly named £1 e-liquid company. Most of my liquids are £5.40 for 30ml, not from the £1 shop. Soon, 30ml is to be illegal.

The Totally famous, Totally Wicked company charge up to £7.99 for some liquids.

Basically, you can spend a few hundred a year, or unknowingly spend thousands.

Either way, £4.99 is not the price of liquid. That's the price BLU (£4.99) want to charge you in Morrisons or the Co-op. Or Vapouriz (£4.99) or Ecigwizard (£4.80)

What a joke those companies are; worst of all, BLU are a tobacco company and support the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) which is responsible for the banning of large tanks, e-liquids over 10ml and liquid over 20mg.

You can ask here, anytime about anything. :thumb:

Good luck.

Hi and thanks for the replies - I'm a bit confused about coils now as I was sold the same replacement coils for both the Aspire and the Davide and the shop. Can you recommend any alternative 3ml tanks that would fit my Istick?

Thanks again

It is possible your shop is enlightened (doesn't sell old gear to it's customers) and you already have BVC coils in both tanks. That would be great. :)

Maybe they say on the packet or on the coil itself.
"Aspire BVC" and "Aspire Nautilus BVC" are similar tech, though not the same size and/or the same level of reliability (leaking, vapor production). When I fly to China, I use the small BVCs in K1 tanks as I don't take posh vaping gear.

The GS tank (Eleaf) is a 22mm/3ml tank, but I don't think it's better than the Nautilus tank. I do use it (a LOT) but only because I can bulk order the coils for £5 from Fasttech.

The Cubis tank (Joyetech) is a 22mm/3.5ml tank and is pretty good.

$17.10 Authentic Joyetech Cubis Tank Clearomizer - 3.5ml / 316 stainless steel + glass / 1ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

and the coils are also available from China.

$7.06 Authentic Joyetech Cubis Tank Kanthal Clapton Coil Head (5-Pack) 5-pack - 1.5ohm (8-20W) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I vape juices from onepoundeliquids as my ADVs - because they (like a lot of juice makers do) use quite a high percentage of flavourings, I often buy their high nic juices (18-24mg) and dilute them with my 60/40 VG/PG unflavoured mixer which I DIY. It really stretches the juices out, and when you're only paying £1 per 10ml, it makes vaping *really* cheap.

They also make some flavours in their 'Cloud' range which is high VG (70%?) and 6mg nic which can make good mixers for their other flavours which go from 6-24mg (6-12-18-24).

I also make all my own coils and wicks for my tanks (SXK Wine, Bellus, Orchid v6, Subtank Mini) which also helps keep costs right down, and I'm never stuck needing replacement heads.

Wow thankyou! I think I may have to invest! My resistance is showing as 2.1 on my Istick display, will the cubis tank reduce this?

Sorry still getting my head around resistance etc - I have looked into sub ohm devices but I really don't think I need one as this Istick meets my needs and I find it a really useable size (I have stupidly tiny hands haha)

Hi there, I went from using an innokin endura t22 to a coolfire 4 tc100, first venture into sub ohm vaping and iv never looked back, the flavour is awesome, but it's aimed at direct lung hit opposed to mouth to lung. There's no wrong or right way, only your way so do what your comfortable with, we'll done to u both for quitting the cigs

Resistance of the atomizer (ohms) is relevant to the power you want to vape at.
iStick 20w won't go under 1.0ohm. Anything between 1.0ohm and 1.5ohms is about right for most set-ups from 10w-20w, depending on the exact design of the coil.

Old atomizer heads (e.g. 1.8ohms) were hard to get more than 10w-12w from, but that was the due to not get enough liquid to the coil as you pushed the power.

Sub-ohm before all these clever new batteries/mods meant vaping at about 18w upwards.

I often use sub-ohm coils but vape them less than 18w.
Then again, I have a set-up upstairs that does 60w with a fresh battery.
