Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I'm a totally new to the world of vaping, decided to try it on a whim after a coworker started and told me about it. At first I thought I'd alternate between analog cigs and vaping, mostly as a means to save money as I'm in scotland were cheapest cigs are £7 - £8 a pack! After getting my cheapo starter kit I challenged myself to see how long I could go without an analog.

I will be 3 weeks tomorrow analog free and determined to stay that way, considering how far I've come! A pretty massive achievement for me, from smoking a pack and a half a day for 11yrs and never trying or thinking about quitting.

This week has definitely been the hardest so far as I feel I'm withdrawing from some of the other chemicals in analogs, plus have made myself a little sick from chain vaping at times! Happy with what I'm doing though and glad to have found a helpful community to bother with any questions.

So hi!

Thanks! Kinda feel like I'm over the worst of it so far and am already really enjoying vaping. I was wondering, I recently got a bottle of 36mg liquid of RY4 to try. I really like the flavour but think the nic level is way too high as it makes me feel like I'm having a panic attack after like 1 draw of it! I'm mostly using 24mg or 18mg when I'm vaping a lot, the guy in the vape shop near me said if I mix the 36mg with the 18mg then it will be 24mg strength. Is that right?

Welcome and congratulations on quitting! They say the worst times come in threes; three weeks, three months, three years.

Hang in there! You can do it!!

Regarding the mixture of juice, yes you can do that. If you can find the same in 0 nicotine you can dilute it down even more.

Haha I'll end up with a phobia of the number 3! Yeh was thinking about getting a really low nic to mix it with, I can't mix it with what I have just now anyway as I don't think it would taste very nice with the flavours I have currently. I never realised this would be such a steep learning curve! I'm just lucky I'm a bit nerdy and enjoying learning all the different details, it all seems too much to take in sometimes so glad I joined here!

Yeah, as Lurch said above:

I remember the 3 weeks - ooh, not nice! But I did it, we all did it, you can do it! :thumb:

Now, with your "cheapo starter kit"... I do not know what you are using, but a decent setup does help when it comes to replacing cigarettes.
I would recommend an EVOD set (see here, sorry, link in German, but supplier is not ;) )

Yes that works fine :)
And - like it was said above - you can get a compatible flavor (vanilla or caramel go with all tobacco liquids, and vanilla goes with just about everything) in 0 mg nicotine, and mix your 36 "down" with that. In the tank of your Personal Vaporizer (PV).

Advice that I received - and still use happily once in a while - when you want the nicotine kick right now:
(works with most purchased hardware, works well with 18 mg nic, I would not try it with 36 though ;) ) :

- puff on your PV a few times
- draw the next drag looooong and deeep right into your lungs
- hold for a little while
- exhale with pleasure
- repeat 2 - 3 times
--> bingo: nicotine kick right now

One more piece of advice:
Did you like to smoke cigars or (sweet) cigarillos? You can mix the same flavor in your PV. Very satisfying indeed.
Cuban Supreme (cigarillo), or Tuscan Reserve (cigar) - mixed with Butterscotch (all by Flavor Art) = delicious! :)

You can do it, dear :) We all did. 100% vaper here since I started up my 1st e-cig on 4 Nov 2011 ;)

edit:
it all seems too much to take in sometimes

Not at all :)
Vaping is not rocket science ;) (Yeah, there are people who make it rocket science, but a person can vape very well indeed without being a rocket scientist - hey, I am a lady and a blonde, and not technically minded at all - and I vape quite happily :D )
Take it one step at a time, dear. Ask when you need help - most people on this forum are very nice and friendly and helpful.

We all had to learn at one time or another. None of us were born with a PV in our little hands ;)
You can do it! :thumb:

Week 4 is already a massive improvement! Woo :vapor: ! Plus I already upgraded! I got an itaste vv/vw v3 that is already don't a much better job than the ego, I was going to go with the EVOD but wanted to see what all the fuss was about with vv/vw.

I'm still working on the right liquid, I know I need a lower nic for night as I tend to chain vape. I'm still exploring what flavour I like, I think I'm going through this 'vapers tongue' right now as my liquids don't taste as nice as they did. Think I need a bigger rotation of flavors, I've only got 2 just now. I'm getting to grips with everything, the lingo, hardware ect. Just seems like a lot if you aren't prepared for how much of a big world this vaping thing is, It's been a pleasant surprise though!

Alright!
VV (variable voltage) means that you can adjust the voltage of your battery. This means that you can give more electric current or less electric current to your atomizer, depending on what atomizer you use and how strong you like the current to be. More current: more vapor. But careful: too much current = burnt taste.
Nice side effect: when the battery charge diminishes, the current provided by your battery goes down. Making for very little vapor. In a VV battery, you can then turn up the current and still use the battery for a little while before having to re-charge.

(sorry if I talk funny. I am from Germany and not a technically minded person. This is how I explain it in German - and this is also all I need to know about that ;) )

Hm... that need not be "vapers tongue".
As we stop smoking, our taste buds get .. uhm.. revitalized. And taste changes over time, especially with vaping. That liquid that tasted great when you started need not taste as great after a few weeks.
I do not know what kind of liquid you are using, but I would recommend Flavor Art liquids for a start. They taste of what it says on the bottle, and not of chemical factory, if you know what I mean. ;)

Oooh.. and there is a whole world of wonderful flavors out there.... *gets that starry eyed look* ;)
Caution: Shiny Acquisition Syndrome (the "horrible disease" that affects most vapers and makes them long for a new shiny vaping item as soon as they see it  ) is not limited to hardware ;)

By the way: you can mix liquids (liquid 1 with liquid 2) in the tank of your PV.
Tobacco and caramel, tobacco and vanilla, strawberry and cookie, caramel and cream... you get my drift.... If you purchase compatible liquids, you can always have a nice new flavor by mixing them in your tank. And if you purchase a liquid that goes with just about everything (like vanilla) in 0 nic, you can use it to "mix down" a stronger liquid whenever you wish. Go ahead and try it if you wish. As long as you are mixing liquid 1 with liquid 2, nothing can go wrong. (Ok, I would not try menthol with vanilla..... but I think you get my drift ;) )
