Hi Friends,

A bit about me...

I have been following ths site for a while,

I am a bit of an activist for vaping, CASAA member, follower of Dr Farsilanos, michael Siegel etc. it has big potential and I am fighting for it, as I think the powers that be would rather see us all die of from analogues and that doesnt sit well with me!

A bit about me , full time smoking since 16, 0.5 - 1 PAD (Im 33 now) Tried quitting with patches, sprays Cognitive Behavior Therapy etc, no luck, after a health scare in 2010 I read ALL the Allan Carr books, and I mean all, quit for 18 months, during that period I become a mental zombie, much the same as member Jensy discussed in a WTA thread I just couldnt get passed the depressive mental fog in my mind and it almost destroyed my marriage, career and life NO JOKE, I wonder if it is harder for those of us with an anxiety disorder?

At the moment I am down to 4 or 5 analogues a day, the rest of the time I have been vaping Blu cherry Crush full strength Nic, I know they are crappy and I hate they owned by Lorillard, but you gotta start somwhere? I tried V2 Cigs and they were very good however they left a film in my mouth and a bad taste after a few days so I thought Full VG juice would be better. I have noticed a light whistle in my throat and some strange tingling in my chest over the past weeks, my doc doesnt seem to think its anything but is keeping an eye out for COPD! , I have noticed on analogues I dont get this ( maybe its the cleansing process when cutting down?)

Tommorow I am going to a vape store in Adelaide and getting a proper kit, not sure which one yet, maybe an EVOD 2? also not sure how I will get Nic juice and possibly WTA juice, if need be in Australia due to our draconian laws!

I might even get something more technical as I like this side of things as an Industrial Designer, I have some cool designs myself that I would love to have built at a latter stage! later I want to get a cool E-Pipe aswell!

Speak soon
Anthony

Hello and welcome Anthony!

If you are interested in doing some reading about e-cigarettes (before your trip tomorrow) here are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

Hope you find this information handy. Good luck on your trip tomorrow!

Thanks Susan I will check it out! ( I must admit its so confusing for me!)

It's very confusing for beginners! There are so many good options available. Hopefully the blog posts will help answer some of your questions. When I first started using an e-cigarette (8 years ago) it was much simpler. But what was available was sub-par!

Hey Anthony... Welcome.. I live in Adelaide Australia too.... good to see our community is growing well. I have been vaping for 16 months now and glad to give up the stinkies!

Yasmin

Hi Yasmin,
Great to hear you have kept off the ciggies for an impressive amount of time!, just wondering if you have tried the vape store on good wood road, I was planning on heading down there and grabbing and evod2? To get me going,
Cheers
Anthony

No... I've not been to the store on Goodwood road... I've met a fello vaper who lives in Adelaide Hills.. she gave me the heads up on a few things about e-cigs.. batteries and clearomizers.. was a really good learning session.. friends of my daughter have an online store.. they are located in Adelaide at Pasadena.. so I've chatted to them some.
Starting on the journey of vaping is always difficult and hard to know what to chose.. but all I can suggest is that you try a few different models.. of batteries.. different voltage settings and also try out different clearomizers.. basically you have the top filled.. the bottom bells (fill from the bottom) and carto's... get one of each and see what suits you best.. same with e-juice.. try out a few different brands to find your taste.. like dekang or liqua.. there are so many out there.. but remember that what you may not like now you may like later down the track so don't be in a hurry to chuck something out you initially didn't like... there are just so many choices of so many brands and different models.. your collection will grow ... hehe.. as we can become serial vapers with a penchant to part with cash on these goods.. they are pretty.. lovely.. adorable.. he-man like (male stuff) and some .......med serious hardware out there.. but don't get too far ahead too quickly.. just start of small and build your way.. you don't want to get a rebuildable clearomizer/atomizer (they can be expensive) before your ready because you could very well break your new toy.. and yes.. they are new toys! We love to show off our gear so be warned when I tell you to go look at pics of veterans stuff.... one needs a bib for all the drooling you'll do.. and it'll send you off all over the place with the desire to buy.. buy.. buy!
Yep.. I kicked a 33 year smoking habit with the e-cigs... tried all the conventional methods and they just failed.. this has been the longest and easiest time I've been off the stinkies and plan to stay that way.

Chat soon

Hi Yasmin,
thanks for the great in depth advice! just got back from the store, they were really helpful!, I ended up purchasing a Kangertech EVOD 2 in silver, it is a very attractive piece! I also got some flavours, ADV 2, Phoney Pear and Odin's Raven! just need to charge the kit now and read the instructions, cant wait, have to get some nicotine juice though which sucks as they cant sell it in Australia! I really want to get an Epipe down the track I think that would be great!
Cheers

Hi Anthony,

I also have an anxiety disorder so you're not alone. Wheezing and stuff is quite normal when you start vaping - it's actually your system clearing out all the stuff from the analogue days. Stick with it! :)

It's good to be sceptical of things that are new - but remember they've been going for a while now and I have yet to read of serious health consequences for members of the vaping population. By contrast there is a wealth of evidence concerning the negative health consequences of smoking. I'm sure you'll find that vaping can replace smoking as your "go to" habit. I was lucky in that I loved it immediately and felt much better within three days of starting (this was in the dark ages when devices were very poor in comparison to those available today). For others the transition takes longer. They key thing is not to beat yourself up about it and go with what feels right to you. Good luck! :)

Hi Anthony, welcome to the forums. I experienced the wheezing in the beginning as well and was coughing up some nasty black phlegm. It went away after a couple of weeks, entirely.

Like you, I've quit cigarettes before... and my marriage took the brunt of it, so I totally get what you are saying. I also suffer from anxiety disorder. I often tell people THE STORY of when I quit cigarettes a couple of years ago (without vaping). I swear I thought about cigarettes every moment of the day, even dreaming about them when I slept. It was a real struggle.

Not so this time around. I am thankful for my success at quitting analogs. I hope you have the same experience as myself, good luck!
