Alright so I've just started out and my friend gave me his old novel double ego vape kit, NOVEL™ Double Ego CE4 E Cig Electronic Cigarette vape Big Luxury Starter kit w | eBay, and I have messed up the coil since I didn't know that if you let the liquid level get to low then the coil can burn.
So my question is do I need to replace just the coil? or anything else as well?
I have also attached a picture of the tank since I can't seem to unscrew it and I was wondering if I am maybe trying to unscrew the wrong bit??
Thank you for any answers and/or useful information

Hi and welcome,
I suggest you abandon the ego/CE-4.

A good kit(s) to get you started from a trusted vendor:

Innokin Endura T20-S Kit
Innokin Endura T20 Kit

Cheers

A more modern setup would be great but I'm not looking to spend a lot of money.

Well then those you linked to should work as long as the battery & clearo threading is compatible.
Might find old ce4 at local vape shop/ smoke shop, convenience store or gas station.

A friend bought one of those tanks at the local overpriced tobacco shop for $3. The CE4 tank is top coil and requires thin (high PG) ejuice to wick properly, and turning it upside down between drags helps.

Your batteries are standard eGo style, with an outer thread and an inner one. The outer thread can take any eGo thread tank such as the far superior EVOD. The "510" inner thread is intended mostly for charging and cigalike atomizers, but will accommodate almost any modern tank -- however the threads are weak for large units, and an atomizer rated below 1.5 ohms or so will either cause it to shut off, provide poor power, or overheat. I also prefer the kind of eGo battery that allows some control over (reduction of) voltage, because a lot of those first-gen "clearomizers" run a bit hot and burny otherwise.

While I suggest a more modern unit, those are good for backup (important!) or something to throw in your pocket.

Could try the aspire zelos mod. Adjustable wattage, internal battery but sturdy and well made (the mod) and it usually comes as a kit with a Nautilus 2 on top, which is a well-known and well-liked tank for starting out.

Others that come to mind would be getting a pico mod (small, fits well in the hand, can get internal or removable battery) and put another tank on top, like the ego mega V2, (only you want the Joytech CLR coils, not the coils that come with the tank. I'd get the 1.0 resistance to start). Great coil life and they are easily rebuildable and/or rewickable. The Ijoy elf MTL tank isn't bad either but it also can take the nautilus 2 coils, and has "fixed" many of the N2 "problems" like slightly more capacity, more adjustable airflow, and a much easier topfill. In my opinion the flavor is also better with that tank.

Any of these combinations would be better than you have now. Could use vapecrawler.com for pricing... You just enter the name of the device you want and it will show you various online options and pricing. If you want to get going more quickly I'd stay with US vendors at the moment as it's Chinese new year and many of them don't operate during that holiday, and it can take a while for things to arrive fast from China, even under optimal circumstances. Welcome to ECF, I hope you can find some better options for you, and yes, keep what you have as a backup if you ARE able to get any replacement heads for it, backups are important.

    Best of luck,

    Anna

It wasn't that long ago when the ce4 was the newest most advanced game changing clearo around.
Thousands upon thousands successfully quit smoking and stayed off cigs using them.
If you like what you're using and it works for you there is no reason to ' upgrade '.
If / when you want to take a next step the options are almost limitless.

You have to be careful there. A lot of counterfeits and fraud does happen. I got burned once. I'm not saying never get anything from ebay, and some manufacturers even have stores, which appear to be totally legitimate. It's just a matter of doing your research, but if you can find another way to purchase them, I would probably recommend that.

Evod tank is one of the best for a ego setup. Cheap now-a-days and have replaceable coils. You could likely get and evod tank and five coils for approx $10.

That would be a good 'next step'

Your location would help us give suggestions for alternatives, but you could also just go to eBay and look for ce4s to replace what you have. Around the time those were popular I much prefered the Vivi Novas, which you can probably also find on the bay.

...the ebay link and the Amazon link OP posted is UK :)
