I actually found the forum from searching out Mooch's excellent battery information and test results.
I suppose I'd better say a bit about myself.
I smoked for 39 years, and was hand-rolling my own blend of tobacco - probably pretty strong!
I wanted to cut down, and hopefully stop, but couldn't find much local information - I needed to go into a vape shop and speak to someone, get advice, try stuff out if possible (it was) and see if I could find anything that worked for me. I use a wheelchair for everything over a few yards, although I can transfer on crutches, so I'm mostly housebound, and that was a challenge in itself!
Eventually, on the 6th February this year, I got my chance - a trip to the dentist took me close to a vape shop, so I got to visit and speak to a real person, try stuff out, and make my first purchase - an Aspire BVC device with a 1.8ml clearomizer and a battery of about 900mAh. As a starter kit, I got some juice - their "Havana Mild" seemed to give me the most satisfying taste, and I got a spare coil and spare juice, along with a charger & case.
I've smoked 9 cigarettes since, all in the first week - I'm not even sure what day my last one was, as I didn't know at the time it would be my last - some time in the week following 2017-02-06 anyway, so I'll use the 12th as my anniversary of choice.
Of course, I started wanting a bit more from my vaping, and quickly lost the taste for anything even vaguely like tobacco flavours (I still have a few bottles, that I doubt I'll ever use).
So I got a Kanger topbox mini starter kit, which looked (and was) pretty good value. Went from MTL to DL pretty soon after getting that.
Although I'm a pretty new vaper, I've had to hit the ground running in order to learn about and get what I need before the restrictions come in on 20th May (TPD) so I've had a pretty accelerated learning curve.
I now have the biggest collection I can afford of the stuff that I won't be able to get after that - 2x Uwell D2, additional Kanger toptank mini, Kanger protank 4, 2x UD Goliath V2, UD Igo W7, some more RTA/RDAs on the way, and a very cheap Kanger Dripbox squonker (60w unregulated, although it seems like it'll be an ok vape once I get a decent RDA on it). Oh, and a litre of 7.2% nicotine in PG concentrate in the freezer, with some other various mixing supplies. It should last a while, as I'm now down to just above 0.4% on DL from way above 2+% when I was smoking (although of course that was MTL, so can't directly compare). I find 0.6% too strong, and 0.3% doesn't do it for me quite, so I'm keeping it between 0.4 and 0.5% in mixing, erring on the lower strength if it makes the recipe easier.
I prefer temperature control on stainless 316L (partly because if you build with that, it'll work in anything, and is relatively safe in both power and TC modes). A good mate lent me his Yihi SX Mini M class that was gathering dust at the moment (he mostly uses dual cell mods now, so just about all his cells are married) and I've got the TCR set on that to 0.00088, which seems to work for SS316L, so must be either right or close! So I can test out builds with a 2nd (normal, non-squonk) mod while still having something to vape on while I'm doing it. Building, wicking and mixing are slow for me, as I don't have much feeling in my hands, and poor eyesight. I might look for one of those visors with magnification and lighting, and see if that helps - it should, as I'm typically jamming magnifiers and flash-lights around and in front of me to help.
I do wish I had time to get a decent TC squonker, but time and finance are against me on that.
Still, I guess I'll get through less juice dripping, so it's not all bad!
I'm much more interested in flavour than huge clouds - as long as there's enough vapour for me to replicate that experience from the cigs, I'm happy!
So I'm doing simple coil builds and starting on DIY juice already, which I guess is a fairly quick progression in under 4 months, but I was pushed along by TPD, with it's apparent aim to ban anything that would make vaping more attractive or convenient than cigarettes!
Anyway, I've listed what I've got in the way of kit (plus I have a VapeDroid C1D2 on the way), so further suggestions are welcome - especially for things that may make mixing and building easier with my physical difficulties.

Anyhow, I've probably waffled on enough about myself and my (lack of) vaping experience - it's great to find a forum with so much information and useful advice on it, so I hope to be around for quite a while yet!

I'm sure people will find ways to get around the new restrictions - it'll be like being back to the early days of home modding, which I've read about, although I wasn't vaping at the time), as it's sales and import that are nobbled, not what people can build themselves! How they think that'll make things safer is anyone's guess! If it got bad enough, some bright spark would be converting a fan heater with an aquarium on top into a room vape! How can they restrict that? So nicotine concentrate will be the bit that's hard to get around, at least inexpensively.
I think I blew what would have been my squonker budget on the VapeDroid, so it'll just be a few odds and ends for me now - deals are good though, as places try to get rid of remaining stock. I'm trying to keep in mind that there may be a good reason for some particular RTA/RDA being left on the shelf though, and checking reviews carefully.
Once I have enough mods to be able to risk one or two, I'm already wondering about how I can jam a DNA75 (maybe C) into an extension on the dripbox :) Got to be careful about soldering though - last time I tried any, I managed to make a lovely hole in my thumbnail, which hurt like hell afterwards, but my sensation is poor enough that it was the smell of burning that alerted me. So I may have to be a bit careful, or get some help in for that part.
Best plan at the moment is to put the electronics where the 18650 currently lives (so inside the present case) and bolt an extension on for a pair of parallel cells on the outside, if I can get hold of a suitable cell case. I won't even need to worry about balancing the charge/discharge that way (and yes, I've caught enough of Mooch's interviews and discussions on Youtube to know that it won't actually double the current limit, but it'll sure give the cells an easier life!). I can even give them lots of cooling that way (used to work in IT, so have fans and heatsinks lying around all over the place)!
If I can average down to 0.36% on the nicotine concentrate I have, which should be possible if I can brew up some satisfying flavours, I can make 22 litres of juice, even with a few wasted recipes (although I may trial recipes without nicotine, as it's a limited resource). That should last me a while!
I suppose the worry about losing tax revenue on tobacco at the same time as people (ex-smokers) living longer and drawing more in pensions was too tempting for the bean-counters who can tell you the price of anything but the value of nothing!

Welcome and glad you joined. RDA's are the most economical and are purported by purists to be the gold standard against which all other types of atomizers are measured. Could check into deep well RDA's such as the Magma RDA.

Thank you for the welcome everyone.
I know I still have a lot of reading to do, but I seem to have got off to a decent start (the fact that I found my way here looking for Mooch's battery test tables should show that!).
I was very lucky to have a good mentor in the very earliest stages (the mate who lent me his SX Mini Class M so I could vape & build at the same time, or compare flavours without having to wait for the device to cool enough to read the resistance accurately) - he was also the one who alerted me to the urgency of preparing for TPD restrictions, hence my accelerated study plan (but I tend to be like that with new interests anyway).
I only wish I'd started a bit earlier, so I could have had a bit more saved up to stock supplies - disability income doesn't extend to much, so all I really have is what I'm saving from dropping the stinkies, which at least is an additional incentive not to slip back to them.
I think my first area of study is likely to be DIY liquids, as getting a couple of regular daily staples will allow me to concentrate on other things while I experiment further - what I've tried so far has been ok, but not by any means exceptional. I seem to be managing adequate coiling and wicking, although pretty it certainly isn't!
All I really need on that is a consistent vaping experience, and I seem to be getting it on the RTAs and RDAs I've tried so far (sometimes after a few attempts), although I haven't yet tried all I've stocked up on (and more on the way :) ). Pretty builds can wait until after TPD though. To be honest, I find it surprising that I can build at all, given the lack of sensation in my hands and poor eyesight, so adequate may be the best I can hope for - and who but me cares if it takes me several hours? I'd only be sitting on my .... anyway, and TV is too boring or depressing!
My lack of ability to out and about makes it hard for me to pay it forward except online, so learning all I can is the best path towards that. At least it's a journey I can look forward to!
