Hi everyone!

I was a smoker from about 13 to 20, quit when I married my gf of 6 years, then picked it back when I hit 30 (mid life crisis, yeah it's silly, but it didn't feel silly at the time).

37 now, and picked up vaping via logic disposables, then the rechargeable ones with the separate cartos. Found this forum and realized I was paying way too much ($20 for 5 cartos, which 2/5 were usually duds).

Still uncertain of what to get, I bought a starter kit from a local vape shop: Spinner II with a kanger pro tank 2 clone. I didn't know it was a clone at the time, but when I found out I went back to the shop and they replaced with a geniune kanger unitank - the worst tank ever.

Was vaping on Day Break by Nicquid, 12mg.

Fast forward 3 months and reading like crazy, I'm now using a iStick with a Pro Tank 3 and I couldn't be happier. I've been buying from Mt Baker Vapor and am very happy with their service, prices and juices. The juice prices are crazy cheap.

I'm still looking for "the one" juice for me, but I haven't found anything tgat quite tickles my fancy. I've tried about 5 different juices now, and they usually don't taste like anything unless i get a flavor shot (50/50 pg/vg). Then I heard about steeping.

One thing I don't understand: why is steeping necessary? IMO juice should be pre-steeped. What do you do in the meantime, vape on unsteeped juice?

I live in Chicago, where vaping is restricted the same as analogs, so I am having to go outside at work to vape - and it's been crazy cold. Being aprogrammer, the cold makes it difficult to type - plus now I'm back with the same smoker crowd. I tried to vape in the restroom (single private room), but the vapor doesn't dissipate quick enough. I made the mistake of asking HR the policy, and then I got an email from my boss stating not to vape in the building.

Anyway, hi! Thanks for the great community and resources.

Hi, Mort, and welcome!

Sorry to hear of your vape-unfriendly work place, but that does seem to be the norm. And while you don't get the visual feedback of the vapor, you might try just holding your breath after a draw. 5 - 10 seconds and when you exhale, often no evidence :)

Steeping.... flavor mixing of juice is similar to flavor mixing of food. Sometimes it benefits from some extra time for the flavors to meld. Sometimes it's great right after mixing. Depends on the flavors involved. Mt. Baker (and others) don't mix the blend until it's ordered, so sometimes steeping is beneficial. If your preferred flavors are in that category, just need to re-order before you need them. Or fall back on flavors from a local B&M, which have been pre-mixed and who knows how long they've been on the shelf? But you'll be paying a lot more per ml for those, and likely not have the same flavors available as Mt. Baker and other online suppliers.

Welcome mort! Yes loads of great info here. I've spent way to much time over the last month reading. I'm still looking for my one juice too. Not sure if I'll find it or not but the fun is in trying.

I vape my new juice as soon as I get it and not been into this game long enough to notice much difference once my juice has aged a bit.

That's too bad about your work situation. My situation is much better. I work in industrial screen printing so our shop always stinks. But I have my own office so I can freshen it up with tasty vapors.

Uh, regarding "one juice" or the mythical "all day vape" (ADV) ...

Why?

I don't eat only one food...

I have several toppers ready to go at all times, all with different flavors. Sometimes I like something rich and full, sometimes light and sweet. Being able to change flavors, if only to clear the palate, is one of the many things that make vaping so much better than smoking! Sure, I have my favorites - but that IS plural :)

Unlucky about not being able to vape at work I work in a factory and can get away with vaping at my machine. Also was vaping in the canteen none of my co workers mind. And my manager walked in just as I exhaled a huge cloud of vapour and didn't say a word :)
I am also looking for a really flavoursome juice. I found a site where 10ml bottles are a pound and am planning on working my way through to find the best. On cherry atm it's a nice vape but the flavour Is to subtle

Steeping is part of the process, and if you order a mix that is not already on the shelf you will get a fresh mix and it may require steeping depending on what's in it.

If you order from a juice company that has stuff already made up and you just pick what you want, that stuff is already steeped where necessary.
But if you order directly from company that's mixing on the spot and leaving it to you to let it steep, it might come out cheaper, but you got to know about the steeping.

The answer to the question boils down to $dollars$

Maybe it's because I'm just new to vaping and used to smoking the same brand of cigarettes. It's also convenient; cleaning the tank out each time I want to try a new flavor is kind of a pain.

That explains why MBV can price the juice so low.

Do folks usually use the beauty ring with the iStick or just screw the tank right on? Is there an advantage either way? I've been screwing the tank directly on.

I think you are talking about the 510(M)-to-510(F)/eGo(M) adapter.
That is for when you are using an eGo threaded tank such as many of the older CE4 types, the miniprotanks, the evods, and many tanks specifically designed to fit and work well on standard eGo batteries using the wider threading instead of the small 510 cigalikesized threads.

Yep, that's what I meant. Thanks.
