Hi...Noobie here

Hello,

I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks and think this community is great. Let me introduce myself. I'm 52 and female. I've been a pack a day smoker for over 24 years. I've quit with nicotine gum, patches, cold turkey, you name it. Always wound up lighting up again. I vaped several years ago using cartridges and rechargeable cigalikes. Went through several brands but gave up because they were so unreliable and, to tell the truth, unsatisfying. In spite of the issues that lasted several months before I gave up and went back to analogs. 12 days ago I came back to vaping and have no intention of quitting this time. I will find what works best for me because there is so much more variety and better quality products now. I am using a Vision spinner and clearomizer I bought from a local vape store. I ordered a Vision mini Vivi Nova and have to say that I am not really impressed by it. I like the vapor and flavor from my clearomizers better. I will be looking for advise on the best flavors to order and I really want to try DIY flavors. Thanks for listening. It's great to be here!:)

Whoo hoo. Connecticut. Somewhere I have been!

I liked Vivi Novas (mini) for a time, but somehow I can't help feeling they are passing into history.

I replaced my 4 with iClear16s. (not the same capacity, but better for my tastes). I used Kanger T3S if I need to larger tank for a day out from home.

At home, I am in league with the mods gods and their shiny toys of wallet destruction. :)

Congrats! and welcome to the forum.

I started and quit e-cigs about five years ago, after a 2 week stint. I was not impressed with the cig-a-like, because i didn't find them satisfying nor convenient.

In December 2013, I decided to quit once and for all and started doing research, reading the forums and watching youtube to learn all i could about the new vape technology. It finally matured to the point that i had options and selections. I stopped smoking Dec. 20th and haven't looked back.

You will find that this is a journey of knowledge and enlightenment to so many flavors and vape products that are available.

Regarding your question about e-juice/flavors. Search the forum and you will see many daily offers from sponsor vendors at incredible prices. Get sample packs with various nicotine levels so you can begin to figure your flavor profile. Initially you will want to start with tobacco flavors that have other flavors mixed in... like vanilla, peach, butterscotch and such. You will never find a flavor that replicates the toxic burning cigarette you used to smoke. Don't worry once you figure out your nicotine level, you will notice all the other crazy flavors don't sound so bad.:) Your taste buds will adjust.

I'm currently enjoying Caribbean Breeze by lucky 7 vapes...

Good luck on your journey.

I've been watching the you tube videos for quite a while now as well. Then found this forum. I wanted to start inexpensive and simple. Also, it seems that for every favorable testimony about set up, there are just as many detractors. LOL.

My local vape shop mixes their own juices. I tried them all and thought most of them tasted very chemical-like and I was disappointed because they sounded so yummy. I liked Minty Marlboro and bought it because I wanted a menthol tobacco like flavor to help ease me off my cigs. That is what I am using the most and still like it. I also got a maple flavor. It's good but leaves an after taste that I don't care for. So I will definitely be looking for quality flavor vendors who offer some sample packs in small quantities for tasting before buying in any quantity. Limited budget and all. Nicotine strength is in need of tweeking as well. Thanks!

Welcome aboard!

I smoked 1pad for 20 years and also always ended up lighting up again after trying to quit with patches, gums, etc. I personally couldn't quit until I was introduced to vaping! Now quitting the cigs almost seems too easy!

Very easy, I agree. It's the physical hand to mouth act of smoking that makes it so hard for me to quit. What will I have with my morning coffee? What will I do while I'm driving? After eating? Right before going to bed? What will I do when I am angry or upset and need to go outside and inhale some nicotine? LOL. Vaping takes care of that.

Welcome!! I did the exact same thing as you (as you'll notice from the date with my name), and I keep seeing folks here saying they're now returning to vaping as we have. I'm enjoying the variety of simple, reliable equipment (and I'm not rebuilding anything since this time I don't HAVE to!!) and finding it easier than ever not to smoke. Enjoy!!!

There are people who love Vivi Novas, and people who hate them. Every device is like this. These devices are relatively cheap, and ridiculously cheap when compared to smoking - especially in a state like Connecticut, one of the most expensive states in the country for analogs (I think #8 out of 50).

I suggest you test out many different devices. Read up on what is available, buy a few, see what works for you. You might not save money in the beginning as you try new devices out, but you are still improving your health, so you still win big. And once you figure out what you like, you will in all likelihood have the post count you need to get confirmed for the Classifieds here on ECF, and you can sell whatever devices didn't work for you, and get some of your money back.

I use different devices for different juices. I put my VCV White Beard in my Ithaka, and taste nothing. In a Spheroid, it is delicious. My MM Maha Ras is the opposite - worthless in a Spheroid, great in an Ithaka.

Some of favorite juices come from Ahlusion, Velvet Cloud Vapor, Five Pawns, Grant's Vanilla Custard, Mad Murdock. As with devices, I suggest you try out many different juice vendors. Generally, I have found my favorite juices are not available in B&Ms - although, as the more popular brands ramp up production and distribution, this is changing. Read up on them, see what flavors seem to be the favorites among ECFers, and order a few. Many vendors sell sampler packs, a handful of small bottles, and some let you pick the flavors. Bonus: you can also sell juices you don't like in the Classifieds.

ECF is a treasure trove of information, and chock full of helpful folks - and a few jerks like me!

Very informative. Didn't know about the classifieds. That's a great idea. Maybe I'll do some shopping as well :). I saw lots of raves about great flavor using the Vivi Nova and that's why I ordered it. And the flavor was less than I was getting with my Ce4s. A different juice may make all the difference.
