Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I tried vaping back in 2009, I even joined the forum, but I quit right away because I got a terrible sore throat and sore mouth. I have been vaping over a week now and I am not having that problem this time. I have a very slight soreness on the roof of my mouth, but nothing like last time. I am not sure if is the equipment or the juice or what is the difference. This time I am using a juice that is 30%VG and 70%PG so maybe that is the difference.

This can make a HUGE difference. Make sure your equipment, atty or carto or whatever you are using, moist. I've seen one instance where someone burned the roof of their mouths because there was not enough vapor and it was too hot!

Dont' forget to drink LOTS of water! Vapeing DOES deydrate you!!!

Welcome back to the forums. Hope this time works out MUCH better for you!

Good points above. Yeah, the hardware working properly is a big factor.

I'll also mention that I've had food sensitivities (like getting hives with certain foods) and that has had an effect with vaping too. Got mouth sores from some juices. Turned out it was the VG that one vendor sells. Not all VG is the same quality, IMO. I switched to a different VG and it was fine again.

So...I DIY my juice so I know basically what ingredients go into it (more or less).

Anyway... it could be flavorings, PG, VG or poorly performing equipment. Real crap shoot. You have to experiment. Sorry, no easy answer!

Hi and welcome to ECF. I am curious as to what you were using before when that was occurring. I ran into a similar problem with my mouth suddenly becoming really sensitive to everything about 3 weeks into vaping. I figured it was something to do with not smoking cigarettes anymore and just continued vaping while increasing my water intake.

It has cleared up in the past week with only slight sensitivity now to spicy foods. Again, I just figure my taste buds are coming back to life.

About a year ago I was getting many sores including on the roof of the mouth. I was pretty sure it was not the PG since I had vaped PG eliquid for over a year prior to that. I do know that some people are allergic to PG. What I determined was it was some other ingredient in the eliquid I was using. Most probably one of the flavorings. Once I stopped using that particular eliquid and moved to another supplier, the sores went away. And all the eliquid I was using was about an 80/20 PG/VG ratio and yet one caused the sores and others did not.

So if you prefer a higher PG level of eliquid, you might want to explore a different supplier who uses different flavoring ingredients.

Thanks for posting as I am experiencing some of the same symptoms, although not as severe (essentially my tongue is just somewhat "numb", but no sores, etc.) I attributed this to my taste buds changing after so many years of smoking, but then I realized it really was numb. I'm being more careful where I 'aim' my inhales (not always at the same spot on my tongue) and increasing water intake, although I'm not clear if VG has the same dehydrating effect as PG? I'm using all VG.

Best of luck to you this time around!

FYI - numb tongue and flavor/taste-loss is a common effect and usually goes away after a bit. Hang in there.

I am now using a SLB KGO with a BOGE Cartomizer. I am using 30%pg/70%VG Banana Pudding flavor juice from Dark City Vapor(It tastes awesome). Back in 2009 I was using a 510 (that was back when the cart and atty were seperate) and some Cherry juice that was probably all pg(I don't remember exactly). I do know the KGO puts out more vapor than the old 510 did.
