Just wanted to start of by saying hi and many thanks for the ton of info this forum has thrown up when I was starting out getting into vaping. Have slowly progressed over time, beginning my quitting of analogs by buying a greensmoke kit, then moved up to a EGO tank system which I enjoyed immensely and have now taken the next step up to my first mod, which is a LavaTube which I am really enjoying. However I don't drip and am not fond of clearomizers at all so would like to get a solid tank/carto combo to run on it.

This is where i need a little input if anybody can help. I would really like to use the 5ml SmokeTech DCT as it seems to be the only decent enough one in my current budget. However, the LavaTube I have is the chrome Lambo V1 which has the 2.5 amp cut off so running LR dual coil cartomizers would be pointless for me (and LR DC at 1.5 ohm is all I can seem to find here in the UK). Therefore can anybody suggest a good SR single coil carto that would fit properly in the SmokeTech DCT ? Ideally enjoy vaping at about between 5-5.5 volts so I guess 2.5-3 ohm carto would be best. Seems to be very hard to find higher ohm cartomizers in the UK?

Many thanks for anybody who can suggest one that would fit.

I recommend the Vivi Nova for the lavatube. If you get a few of those and learn how to rebuild the atomizer coils you'll be putting money in the bank. Couple those saving with learning how to DIY your own juice and your vaping costs will plummet to around 20 cents a day. Here's complete instructions, complete with video, right here in my blog - The Vaper's Handbook.

Where ever you can get the Smoktech dual coils, they should also sell the Smoktech single coil cartos. I'd been using those on my Smoktech DCT tanks for a couple of months. Reasonably happy with them, but often would suddenly get a burnt taste that I couldn't get rid of. Didn't believe it was a juice delivery issue, as I was able to keep the polyfill adequately moist.

Then I read here in the forums that dual coils drain your batteries faster than single coils, and without any objective advantage to warrant that loss. Also read the controversial claim that to power dual coils effectively, you need to give them at least 4.5v of amp. Since at the time I only had 3.7v mods, I decided to give the single coil Smoktechs a trial.

Glad I did. The frequent burnt taste has not surfaced in any of several tanks used in the last couple of weeks. I've noticed a definite moderate increase in battery life in my 14500 and 18650 batteries. Probably more vapor, too.

My opinion is most tanks are primarily the same. Their job is to hold juice and not leak. If you know what you are doing, they will all pretty much do that. The Smoktech DCT tanks make a good starter tank at a reasonable price. My recommendation would be to get the ones with the frosty tubes (made of polypropylene), which are immune to some juices that can crack or melt the clear polycarbonate tubes. Also, be sure to get a tank filler tool like the one from Big Daddy Vapor; these protect your end cap o-rings from being damaged by the carto's sharp edge, and prevents juice from getting into the air hole of the carto, resulting in flooding and leaking. Worth the investment.
