Hi, E-cig Forum! For a period of 2 years, I was half-way into vaping, and then I basically quit 7 months ago. Now, I wish to delve deeper into using e-cigs and vaping, as it interests me and I believe I will find it as an enjoyable hobby.

I will probably need SOME assistance along the first few months, as I am not too knowledgeable about the elements surrounding vaping. For now, I have one pressing question:

1. If I wish to re-coil tanks myself whenever they get burnt out, do I just need some (nickel, titanium, steel, or etc.) wire and a pair of plyers?

howdy! and welcome!

re-coiling tools will somewhat depend on what you are re-coiling - when you say tanks, are you talking about re-building the original coils or a tank designed with a rebuildable deck? you will, at the least, need wire, a rod of some sort of the proper diameter (drill bits, precision screwdrivers, coil jigs have all been used, amongst others), tweezers (i use ceramic tip) for tweaking coils... and an ohm reader <--- very important

the type of wire you use will depend on the type of device you are using - for a standard build, generally a kanthal a1 wire is the most common... for a temp control device/ build, then nickel (ni200), titanium, or stainless steel (316L, 317L) depending on what device will support

Hello and welcome. :toast: That's pretty much close to all I use, except for a wire cutter. I use silica wicks and just wrap the wire around it to make a coil, but if your going to use cotton for wicking you might want to make the coil first, then thread the cotton through it, in which case you'll need something of the proper size to wrap the coil around, like a nail or coil mandrill or something.

I am talking about re-coiling on RBAs. Is an ohm reader that necessary? Also, will I have to acquire cotton (wicks?) aswell?

gotcha - and yes, you will need wicking as well - koh gen do (japanese pad style cotton - check amazon for muji cotton pads, work great), cotton bacon (what i tend to use in my drippers), even rayon are good wicking materials, depending on preference and build - lots of options, including silica as well as above poster mentioned

an ohm reader is just about essential if you want to build safely - pretty inexpensive as well ($10-$20)...

Alright, I will definitely look into that!

Do you know of any reliable online store that sells VG e-juice discreetly? (both on the statement and shipping) My fiancée and I both share a bank account together, and she couldn't imagine me having vaping as a hobby, so I'd rather not spill the beans to her..
