Hi there, name's Fran.

I've been toying with the idea of vaping for a while and finally pulled the trigger on an actual mod and tank.
I first got some blu ecigs, then a vape pen, now I've got a mod with a tank.

I'm not really sure what all im doing atm, though.
I got a Cool Fire IV mod with an Arctic tank by Horizon Tech. I'm using puffin ejuice 50/50 American Tobacco flavor atm.

I think I might be doing things wrong, or what not. seems really harsh and not the same experience as with my vape pen.

Got any starter tutorials or advice?

What are the resistance of your coils and what watts are you vaping at ?
Don't have that tank but have a similar styled one.
Did you put eliquid on the cotton in the coil ?
Before I filled the tank I did pour juice into the cotton part of it directly.

The display says it's at 0.26Ω ohm
I've tried it at 3.0V and up at 7.5V
I've also tried it at 6W up to 40W

Put eliquid on the outside of the coil head where the cotton is and some through the top.
Put tank togther with liquid in it then wait a couple of minutes.
Coils like these , well mostly any coil if you singe the cotton you can't get rid of the burnt taste.

Whats your nic level in the juice ? Sub ohm vaping is a lot stronger than what you were using before

Not sure exactly I don't have the bottle with me, but the cap is red, and I don't take big long hits trying to be like a fog machine or anything.

If you were on say 18mg nic with the vape pen , then something like this you would get the same feeling from 6mg or less.
Keeping in mind some people are different but thats the case for most people.
If it is the nic too high and not a coil or tank problem

occasionally you can just get bad coils.
Or if you didn't add sufficient juice to the cotton in the coil and get it soaked then vape you may have singed the cotton.
Or if your juice has a high vg content , and you vaped too quickly and watts high then it may have trouble keeping up.
Although these particular coils look to have plenty big juice holes.

Hmm, not sure.
Kinda harsh, but it doesn't seem like burning. Harsh like smoking a cig for the first time after a long time of not smoking. Made me caught and go "***..." the first few puffs.

Nic too high for that tank and coils would be most peoples first thought.
Also eliquid is made up of propylene glycol (pg), vegetable glycerine(vg) , flavours , nic , sometimes ethyl alcohol and some occasionally other things
The pg gives the throat hit and carries flavour a bit more and the vg gives the vapour.

People using sub ohm coils , dual coils - usually use lower nic levels , most 6mg - 3mg.
Also some people use more vg if they find high pg liquids too strong.
